1 "Niin, siitä vapisee sydämeni

ja hypähtää paikoiltansa.

2 *Ps. 29:3Kuulkaa, kuulkaa hänen äänensä pauhinaa

ja kohinaa, joka käy hänen suustansa.

3 Hän laskee sen kaikumaan kaiken taivaan alla,

lähettää leimauksensa maan ääriin asti.

4 Sen kintereillä ärjyy ääni,

hän korottaa väkevän äänensä jylinän,

eikä hän säästä salamoitaan,

äänensä raikuessa.

5 *Job 5:9; Job 9:10; Ps. 147:15Ihmeellisesti Jumala korottaa äänensä jylinän,

hän tekee suuria tekoja, joita emme käsittää taida.

6 Sillä hän sanoo lumelle: 'Putoa maahan',

samoin sadekuurolle, rankkasateittensa ryöpylle.

7 Niin hän kytkee jokaiselta kädet,

että kaikki ihmiset hänen tekonsa tietäisivät.

8 Pedot vetäytyvät piiloon

ja pysyvät luolissansa.

9 *Job 9:9; Ps. 135:7Tähtitarhasta tulee tuulispää,

pohjan ilmalta pakkanen.

10 *Job 38:29Jumalan henkäyksestä syntyy jää,

ja aavat vedet ahdistuvat.

11 Hän myös kuormittaa pilvet kosteudella

ja hajottaa välähtelevät ukkosvaarunsa.

12 *Ps. 148:8Ne vyöryvät sinne tänne hänen ohjauksestaan,

tehdäkseen maanpiirin päällä

kaiken, mitä hän niille määrää.

13 Hän antaa niiden osua

milloin maalle vitsaukseksi, milloin siunaukseksi.

14 Ota tämä korviisi, Job;

pysähdy ja tarkkaa Jumalan ihmetöitä.

15 Tiedätkö, kuinka Jumala niillä tekonsa teettää

ja kuinka hän antaa pilviensä leimausten loistaa?

16 Käsitätkö pilvien punnituksen,

hänen ihmeensä, joka on kaikkitietävä?

17 Sinä, jonka vaatteet kuumenevat,

kun maa on raukeana etelän helletuulesta,

18 kaarrutatko sinä hänen kanssansa taivaan,

joka on vahva kuin valettu kuvastin?

19 Neuvo, mitä meidän on hänelle sanottava;

pimeydessämme emme voi tuoda esiin mitään.

20 Olisiko hänelle ilmoitettava,

että tahtoisin puhua?

Kukapa vaatisi omaa tuhoansa!

21 Ja nyt: ei voida katsella valoa,

joka kirkkaana loistaa,

kun tuuli on puhaltanut puhdistaen taivaan.

22 Pohjoisesta tulee kultainen hohde;

Jumalan yllä on peljättävä valtasuuruus.

23 Kaikkivaltiasta emme saata käsittää,

häntä, joka on suuri voimassa,

joka ei oikeutta ja täydellistä vanhurskautta polje.

24 Sentähden peljätkööt häntä ihmiset;

hän ei katso keneenkään,

joka on omasta mielestään viisas."

14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God. 15 Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine? 16 Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge? 17 How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind? 18 Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass? 19 Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness. 20 Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up.

21 And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them. 22 Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.*37.22 Fair…: Heb. Gold 23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict. 24 Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.
