1 And Dauid saide, This is the house of the Lord God, and this is the altar for the burnt offring of Israel. 2 And Dauid commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the lande of Israel, and he set masons to hewe and polish stones to builde the house of God. 3 Dauid also prepared much yron for the nayles of the doores and of the gates, and for the ioynings, and abundance of brasse passing weight, 4 And cedar trees without nomber: for the Zidonians and they of Tyrus brought much cedar wood to Dauid. 5 And Dauid saide, Salomon my sonne is yong and tender, and we must builde an house for the Lord, magnificall, excellent and of great fame and dignitie throughout all countreyes. I will therefore nowe prepare for him. So Dauid prepared very much before his death. 6 Then he called Salomon his sonne, and charged him to builde an house for the Lord God of Israel. 7 And Dauid said to Salomon, My sonne, I purposed with my selfe to builde an house to the Name of the Lord my God, 8 But the worde of the Lord came to me, saying, Thou hast shed much blood, and hast made great battels: thou shalt not builde an house vnto my Name: for thou hast shead much blood vpon the earth in my sight. 9 Beholde, a sonne is borne to thee, which shalbe a man of rest, for I will giue him rest from all his enemies rounde about: therefore his name is Salomon: and I will sende peace and quietnes vpon Israel in his dayes. 10 Hee shall builde an house for my Name, and he shalbe my sonne, and I will be his father, and I will establish the throne of his kingdome vpon Israel for euer. 11 Nowe therefore my sonne, the Lord shalbe with thee, and thou shalt prosper, and thou shalt builde an house to the Lord thy God, as he hath spoken of thee. 12 Onely the Lord giue thee wisedome and vnderstanding, and giue thee charge ouer Israel, euen to keepe the Lawe of the Lord thy God. 13 Then thou shalt prosper, if thou take heede to obserue the statutes and the iudgements which the Lord commanded Moses for Israel: be strong and of good courage: feare not, neither bee afraide. 14 For beholde, according to my pouertie haue I prepared for the house of the Lord an hundreth thousand talents of golde, and a thousand thousande talents of siluer, and of brasse and of yron passing weight: for there was abundance: I haue also prepared timber and stone, and thou mayest prouide more thereto. 15 Moreouer thou hast workmen with thee enough, hewers of stone, and workemen for timber, and all men expert in euery worke. 16 Of golde, of siluer, and of brasse, and of yron there is no nomber: Vp therefore, and be doing, and the Lord wilbe with thee. 17 Dauid also commanded all the princes of Israel to helpe Salomon his sonne, saying, 18 Is not the Lord your God with you, and hath giuen you rest on euerie side? for hee hath giuen the inhabitants of the land into mine hand, and the land is subdued before the Lord and before his people. 19 Nowe set your hearts and your soules to seeke the Lord your God, and arise, and builde the Sanctuarie of the Lord God to bring the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, and the holy vessels of God into the house built for the Name of the Lord.

1 Disse Davi: Esta é a casa de Deus Jeová, e este é o altar do holocausto para Israel.

2 Davi ordenou que se ajuntassem os estranhos que se achavam na terra de Israel; e encarregou pedreiros que preparassem pedras lavradas para se edificar a casa de Deus.

3 Aparelhou Davi ferro em abundância para os pregos das portas e para as junturas; como também bronze em abundância, e que não foi pesado;

4 e madeira de cedro, inumerável; porque os sidônios e os de Tiro traziam a Davi madeira de cedro em abundância.

5 Disse Davi consigo: Meu filho Salomão é ainda moço e tenro, e a casa que se há de edificar para Jeová, deve ser magnificentíssima, digna de fama e de glória em todos os países. Começar-lhe-ei os preparos. Assim Davi antes da sua morte fez grandes preparos.

6 Então chamou a seu filho Salomão, e ordenou-lhe que edificasse uma casa a Jeová, Deus de Israel.

7 Disse Davi a seu filho Salomão: Quanto a mim, foi a minha intenção edificar uma casa ao nome de Jeová meu Deus.

8 A palavra, porém, de Jeová veio a mim, dizendo: Tens derramado muito sangue, e tens feito grandes guerras; não edificarás casa ao meu nome, porque tens derramado muito sangue sobre a terra na minha presença.

9 Eis que te nascerá um filho, que será homem de repouso; dar-lhe-ei repouso de todos os seus inimigos ao redor. Será chamado Salomão, e darei paz e descanso a Israel nos seus dias.

10 Ele edificará uma casa ao meu nome: ele será meu filho, e eu serei seu pai; estabelecerei o trono do seu reino sobre Israel para sempre.

11 Agora, meu filho, seja Jeová contigo; prospera e edifica a casa de Jeová teu Deus, como ele falou a respeito de ti.

12 Pelo menos te dê Jeová prudência e entendimento, e te instrua acerca de Israel, para que assim guardes a lei de Jeová teu Deus.

13 Então serás próspero, se cuidares em cumprir os estatutos e os juízos, que Jeová mandou a Moisés acerca de Israel. Esforça-te, e tem bom ânimo; não tenhas medo, nem te desalentes.

14 Eis que com duro trabalho preparei para a casa de Jeová cem mil talentos de ouro e um milhão de talentos de prata, e de bronze e de ferro que não se podem pesar, porque é em abundância: madeira também e pedra preparei: podes aumentá-los.

15 Além disso tens trabalhadores em abundância, pedreiros e carpinteiros; e todos os que são peritos em toda a sorte de obra.

16 O ouro, a prata, o bronze e o ferro são inumeráveis. Levanta-te e mete mão à obra, e seja Jeová contigo.

17 Também Davi ordenou a todos os príncipes de Israel que ajudassem a seu filho Salomão, dizendo:

18 Não está convosco Jeová vosso Deus? e não vos deu descanso por todos os lados? Entregou-me nas mãos os habitantes da terra; e a terra está subjugada diante de Jeová e diante do seu povo.

19 Disponde o vosso coração e a vossa alma para buscardes a Jeová vosso Deus; levantai-vos, e edificai o santuário de Deus Jeová, para que a arca da aliança de Jeová e os vasos sagrados de Deus sejam trazidos para a casa que se há de edificar ao nome de Jeová.
