1 Puis l'Esprit m'éleva, et me mena à la porte Orientale de la maison de l'Eternel qui regarde vers l'Orient; et voici vingt-cinq hommes à l'entrée de la porte; et je vis au milieu d'eux Jaazanja fils de Hazur, et Pélatja fils de Bénaja, les principaux du peuple.

2 Et il me dit : fils d'homme, ceux-ci sont les hommes qui ont des pensées d'iniquité, et qui donnent un mauvais conseil dans cette ville;

3 En disant : ce n'est pas une chose prête; qu'on bâtisse des maisons; elle est la chaudière, et nous [sommes] la chair.

4 C'est pourquoi prophétise contre eux, prophétise, fils d'homme.

5 L'Esprit donc de l'Eternel tomba sur moi, et me dit : parle. Ainsi a dit l'Eternel : vous parlez ainsi, maison d'Israël, et je connais toutes les pensées de votre esprit.

6 Vous avez multiplié vos gens tués dans cette ville; et vous avez rempli ses rues de gens que vous avez mis à mort.

7 C'est pourquoi, ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel : les gens que vous avez fait mourir, et que vous avez mis au milieu d'elle, sont la chair, et elle est la chaudière, mais je vous tirerai hors du milieu d'elle.

8 Vous avez eu peur de l'épée, mais je ferai venir l'épée sur vous, dit le Seigneur l'Etemel.

9 Et je vous tirerai hors de la ville, je vous livrerai entre les mains des étrangers, et j'exécuterai mes jugements contre vous.

10 Vous tomberez par l'épée; je vous jugerai dans le pays d'Israël; et vous saurez que je suis l'Eternel.

11 Elle ne vous sera point une chaudière, et vous ne serez point au dedans d'elle comme la chair; je vous jugerai dans le pays d'Israël.

12 Et vous saurez que je suis l'Eternel; car vous n'avez point marché dans mes statuts, et vous n'avez point suivi mes ordonnances; mais vous avez agi selon les ordonnances des nations qui sont autour de vous.

13 Or il arriva comme je prophétisais, que Pélatja fils de Bénaja mourut; alors je me prosternai sur mon visage, et je criai à haute voix, et dis : ah! ah! Seigneur Eternel! t'en vas-tu consumer [entièrement] le reste d'Israël?

14 Et la parole de l'Eternel me fut [adressée], en disant :

15 Fils d'homme, tes frères, tes frères, les hommes de ta parenté, et tous ceux de la maison d'Israël entièrement [sont ceux] auxquels les habitants de Jérusalem ont dit : éloignez-vous de l'Eternel, la terre nous a été donnée en héritage.

16 C'est pourquoi dis-leur : ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel : quoique je les aie éloignés entre les nations, et que je les aie dispersés par les pays, je leur ai pourtant été comme un petit Sanctuaire dans les pays auxquels ils sont venus.

17 C'est pourquoi dis-leur : ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel : aussi je vous recueillerai d'entre les peuples, et je vous rassemblerai des pays auxquels vous avez été dispersés, et je vous donnerai la terre d'Israël.

18 Et ils y entreront, et ôteront hors d'elle toutes ses infamies, et toutes ses abominations.

19 Et je ferai qu'ils n'auront qu'un cœur, et je mettrai au dedans d'eux un esprit nouveau; j'ôterai le cœur de pierre hors de leur chair, et je leur donnerai un cœur de chair.

20 Afin qu'ils marchent dans mes statuts; qu'ils gardent mes ordonnances, et qu'ils les fassent; et ils seront mon peuple, et je serai leur Dieu.

21 Mais quant à ceux dont le cœur va après le désir de leurs infamies et de leurs abominations, quant à ceux-là, je ferai tomber sur leur tête les peines que mérite leur conduite, dit le Seigneur l'Eternel.

22 Puis les Chérubins élevèrent leurs ailes, et les roues qui étaient vis-à-vis d'eux [s'élevèrent aussi], et la gloire aussi du Dieu d'Israël qui était sur eux par dessus.

23 Et la gloire de l'Eternel s'éleva du milieu de la ville, et s'arrêta sur la montagne qui est à l'Orient de la ville.

24 Puis l'Esprit m'enleva, et me transporta en Caldée, vers ceux qui avaient été emmenés captifs, [le tout] en vision par l'Esprit de Dieu. Et la vision que j'avais vue disparut de devant moi.

25 Alors je dis à ceux qui avaient été emmenés captifs toutes les choses que l'Eternel m'avait fait voir.

1 Moreover the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD’S house, which looks eastward: and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.

2 Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise iniquity, and give wicked counsel in this city:

3 Who say, It is not near for us to build houses: this city is the caldron, and we are the flesh.

4 Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man.

5 And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus says the LORD; Thus have you said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, all of them.

6 You have multiplied your slain in this city, and you have filled its streets with the slain.

7 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron: but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it.

8 You have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you, says the Lord GOD.

9 And I will bring you out of its midst, and deliver you into the hands of foreigners, and will execute judgments among you.

10 You shall fall by the sword; I will judge you at the border of Israel; and you shall know that I am the LORD.

11 This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall you be the flesh in its midst; but I will judge you at the border of Israel:

12 And you shall know that I am the LORD: for you have not walked in my statutes, neither executed my judgments, but have done after the manners of the nations that are round about you.

13 And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then I fell down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord GOD! will you make a full end of the remnant of Israel?

14 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

15 Son of man, your brethren, even your brethren, the men of your kindred, and all the house of Israel entirely, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the LORD: unto us is this land given in possession.

16 Therefore say, Thus says the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the nations, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.

17 Therefore say, Thus says the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.

18 And they shall come there, and they shall take away all its detestable things and all its abominations from there.

19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh:

20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

21 But as for them whose heart walks after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, says the Lord GOD.

22 Then did the cherubim lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

23 And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.

24 Afterwards the Spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.

25 Then I spoke unto them of the captivity all the things that the LORD had shown me.
