Te Kupu a te Atua i roto i Tāna Tama
1 He maha ngā wāhi, he maha ngā huarahi i kōrero ai te Atua i mua, arā ngā poropiti, ki ngā mātua, 2 i ēnei rā whakamutunga nā tāna Tama āna kōrero ki a tātou, ko tāna hoki tērā i mea ai māna ngā mea katoa, ko tāna kaihanga hoki tērā o ngā ao. 3 Ko ia te kānapatanga o tōna korōria, te tino āhua o tōna pūmautanga, e whakaū nei i ngā mea katoa ki te kupu o tōna kaha, ka oti i a ia ake anō te horoi ō tātou hara, nā noho ana ia i te ringa matau o te Nui i runga rawa.
4 Ā, meinga ana ia kia pai ake i ngā anahera, kia pērā me te ingoa i riro i a ia he nui atu i tō rātou.
Te Nui o te Tama a te Atua
5 Ki a wai hoki o ngā anahera tāna meatanga i mua,
"Ko koe tāku Tama,
nō nāianei koe i whakatupuria ai e ahau"?
Me tēnei anō,
"Ko ahau hei Matua ki a ia,
ko ia hei Tama ki ahau?"
6 I tāna kawenga mai anō hoki i te whānau mātāmua ki te ao, ka mea ia,
"Kia koropiko ngā anahera katoa a te Atua ki a ia."
7 Ko tāna kupu ia mō ngā anahera,
"Meinga ana e ia āna anahera hei wairua,
āna kaimahi hei mura ahi."
8 Mō te Tama ia, i kī ia,
"Pūmau tonu tōu torōna, e te Atua, ake, ake;
ā, ko te hēpeta o te tika te hēpeta o tōu kīngitanga.
9 I arohaina e koe te tika, i kinongia e koe te hara;
nō reira nui atu i tō ōu hoa
te whakawahinga a te Atua,
a tōu Atua, i a koe ki te hinu o te hari."
10 Me tēnei anō,
"Nāu, e te Ariki, i te tīmatanga i whakatakoto te whenua;
he mahi anō ngā rangi nā ōu ringa.
11 Ko ērā e hemo atu, ko koe ia e mau tonu:
ka tawhitotia katoatia hoki ērā me he kākahu.
12 Ka pōkaitia e koe, ānō he koheka,
ka whakaputaia kētia.
Ko koe tonu anō ia koe,
kāhore hoki he mutunga o ōu tau."
13 Ki tēhea hoki o ngā anahera tāna meatanga i mua,
"Hei tōku ringa matau koe noho ai,
kia meinga rā anō e ahau ōu hoariri
hei tūranga waewae mōu"?
14 He teka ianei he wairua kaimahi rātou katoa, he mea tonotono hei minita, he whakaaro ki te hunga mō rātou nei te ora?
1 God, having of old time spoken unto the fathers in the prophets by divers portions and in divers manners, 2 hath at the end of these days spoken unto us in his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds; 3 who being the effulgence of his glory, and the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4 having become by so much better than the angels, as he hath inherited a more excellent name than they. 5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time,
Thou art my Son,
This day have I begotten thee?
and again,
I will be to him a Father,
And he shall be to me a Son?
6 And when he again bringeth in the firstborn into the world he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. 7 And of the angels he saith,
Who maketh his angels winds,
And his ministers a flame of fire:
8 but of the Son he saith,
Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever;
And the sceptre of uprightness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity;
Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee
With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
10 And,
Thou, Lord, in the beginning didst lay the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the works of thy hands:
11 They shall perish; but thou continuest:
And they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 And as a mantle shalt thou roll them up,
As a garment, and they shall be changed:
But thou art the same,
And thy years shall not fail.
13 But of which of the angels hath he said at any time,
Sit thou on my right hand,
Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet?
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to do service for the sake of them that shall inherit salvation?
