1 Ele lhes deu vida, quando vocês estavam mortos em suas transgressões e pecados, 2 nos quais vocês andaram noutro tempo, segundo o curso deste mundo, segundo o príncipe da potestade do ar, do espírito que agora atua nos filhos da desobediência. 3 Entre eles também nós todos andamos no passado, segundo as inclinações da nossa carne, fazendo a vontade da carne e dos pensamentos; e éramos por natureza filhos da ira, como também os demais.

4 Mas Deus, sendo rico em misericórdia, por causa do grande amor com que nos amou, 5 e estando nós mortos em nossas transgressões, nos deu vida juntamente com Cristo — pela graça vocês são salvos — 6 e juntamente com ele nos ressuscitou e com ele nos fez assentar nas regiões celestiais em Cristo Jesus. 7 Deus fez isso para mostrar nos tempos vindouros a suprema riqueza da sua graça, em bondade para conosco, em Cristo Jesus.

8 Porque pela graça vocês são salvos, mediante a fé; e isto não vem de vocês, é dom de Deus; 9 não de obras, para que ninguém se glorie. 10 Pois somos feitura dele, criados em Cristo Jesus para boas obras, as quais Deus de antemão preparou para que andássemos nelas.

11 Portanto, lembrem-se de que no passado vocês eram gentios na carne, chamados incircuncisão por aqueles que se intitulam circuncisão, que é feita na carne por mãos humanas. 12 Naquele tempo vocês estavam sem Cristo, separados da comunidade de Israel e estranhos às alianças da promessa, não tendo esperança e sem Deus no mundo.

13 Mas agora, em Cristo Jesus, vocês, que antes estavam longe, foram aproximados pelo sangue de Cristo. 14 Porque ele é a nossa paz. De dois povos ele fez um só e, na sua carne, derrubou a parede de separação que estava no meio, a inimizade. 15 Cristo aboliu a lei dos mandamentos na forma de ordenanças, para que dos dois criasse em si mesmo uma nova humanidade, fazendo a paz, 16 e reconciliasse ambos em um só corpo com Deus, por meio da cruz, destruindo a inimizade por meio dela. 17 E, quando veio, Cristo evangelizou paz a vocês que estavam longe e paz também aos que estavam perto; 18 porque, por meio dele, ambos temos acesso ao Pai em um só Espírito.

19 Assim, vocês não são mais estrangeiros e peregrinos, mas concidadãos dos santos e membros da família de Deus, 20 edificados sobre o fundamento dos apóstolos e profetas, sendo ele mesmo, Cristo Jesus, a pedra angular. 21 Nele, todo o edifício, bem-ajustado, cresce para ser um santuário dedicado ao Senhor. 22 Nele também vocês estão sendo edificados, junto com os outros, para serem morada de Deus no Espírito.

1 Even you, who were dead in trespasses and sins2 in which ye once walked according to the era of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the sons of disobedience.3 Among whom we also all once behaved in the lusts of our flesh, doing the intentions of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath as also the others.4 But God, being rich in mercy, through his great love that he loved us,5 even us being dead in the transgressions, he made alive together with the Christ (ye are saved by grace),6 and raised us up together, and seated us together in the heavenly things in Christ Jesus.7 So that in the coming ages he might show the transcending wealth of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.8 For ye are saved by grace through faith, and this a gift of God, not from you,9 not from works, so that not any man may boast.10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God preordained that we should walk in them.11 Remember therefore that once ye, the Gentiles in flesh, who are called uncircumcision by that which is called circumcision (in flesh, made by hands),12 that ye were at that time independent of Christ, alienated from the citizenship of Israel, and alien of the covenants of the promise, having no hope and godless in the world.13 But now in Christ Jesus ye, being formerly far off, became near in the blood of the Christ.14 For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the dividing wall of partition,15 having abolished in his flesh the enmity--the law of the commandments in ordinances--so that he might create in himself the two into one new man, making peace,16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, having slain the enmity by it.17 And after coming he preached good-news, peace to you, to those far off and to those near,18 because through him we both have the access in one Spirit to the Father.19 So then ye are no more alien and foreign, but fellow citizens of the sanctified, and belonging to the household of God.20 Which was built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief corner,21 in whom the whole building joined together grows into a holy temple in Lord,22 in whom ye also are built together in Spirit into a habitation of God.
