1 Então o Senhor disse a Moisés:

— Corte duas tábuas de pedra, como as primeiras, e eu escreverei nelas as mesmas palavras que estavam nas primeiras tábuas, que você quebrou. 2 E prepare-se para amanhã, para que você suba, pela manhã, o monte Sinai e se apresente ali diante de mim no alto do monte. 3 Ninguém deverá subir com você, ninguém deverá aparecer em todo o monte; nem ainda ovelhas nem gado devem ser apascentados diante dele.

4 Então Moisés cortou duas tábuas de pedra, como as primeiras. E, levantando-se de madrugada, subiu o monte Sinai, como o Senhor lhe havia ordenado, levando nas mãos as duas tábuas de pedra.

5 O Senhor desceu na nuvem, esteve ali junto de Moisés e proclamou o nome do Senhor. 6 O Senhor passou diante de Moisés e proclamou:

— O Senhor! O Senhor Deus compassivo e bondoso, tardio em irar-se e grande em misericórdia e fidelidade; 7 que guarda a misericórdia em mil gerações, que perdoa a maldade, a transgressão e o pecado, ainda que não inocente o culpado, e visita a iniquidade dos pais nos filhos e nos filhos dos filhos, até a terceira e quarta geração!

8 E imediatamente Moisés curvou-se para a terra, adorou o Senhor 9 e disse:

— Senhor, se agora alcancei favor diante de ti, continua no meio de nós; porque este povo é teimoso. Perdoa a nossa iniquidade e o nosso pecado e toma-nos por tua herança.

10 Então o Senhor disse:

— Eis que eu faço uma aliança. Diante de todo o seu povo farei maravilhas que nunca foram feitas em toda a terra, nem entre nação alguma, de maneira que todo este povo, em cujo meio você está, veja a obra do Senhor; porque coisa terrível é o que faço com você.

11 — Observe o que hoje eu ordeno a vocês: eis que expulsarei da frente de vocês os amorreus, os cananeus, os heteus, os ferezeus, os heveus e os jebuseus. 12 Abstenham-se de fazer aliança com os moradores da terra para onde vocês vão, para que isso não seja uma armadilha no meio de vocês. 13 Pelo contrário, derrubem os altares deles, quebrem as suas colunas e cortem os postes da deusa Aserá. 14 Porque vocês não devem adorar outro deus; pois o nome do Senhor é Zeloso; sim, ele é Deus zeloso. 15 Não façam aliança com os moradores da terra, para não acontecer que, em se prostituindo eles com os deuses e lhes sacrificando, alguém os convide, e vocês comam dos seus sacrifícios. 16 Também para que não aconteça que vocês escolham para os seus filhos mulheres do meio das filhas deles, e estas, ao se prostituírem com os deuses que adoram, façam com que também os seus filhos se prostituam com esses deuses.

17 — Não façam deuses de metal para vocês.

18 — Celebrem a Festa dos Pães sem Fermento. Durante sete dias vocês comerão pães sem fermento, como ordenei a vocês. Façam isso no tempo indicado no mês de abibe, porque nesse mês vocês saíram do Egito. 19 Todo o primeiro filho que nascer é meu. Também de todo o seu gado, o primeiro filhote macho de vacas e ovelhas é meu. 20 Mas o jumento que for a primeira cria, esse vocês podem resgatar com um cordeiro; se vocês não o resgatarem, ele deverá ser desnucado. Vocês devem resgatar todos os primogênitos de seus filhos. Ninguém aparecerá diante de mim de mãos vazias.

21 — Seis dias vocês trabalharão, mas no sétimo dia vocês descansarão. Mesmo no tempo de arar e de colher vocês deverão descansar.

22 — Celebrem também a Festa das Semanas, que é a festa das primícias da colheita do trigo, e a Festa da Colheita no fim do ano.

23 — Três vezes por ano, todo homem deve aparecer diante do soberano Senhor, o Deus de Israel. 24 Porque expulsarei as nações de diante de vocês e aumentarei o seu território; ninguém cobiçará a sua terra quando vocês comparecerem na presença do Senhor, seu Deus, três vezes por ano.

25 — Não ofereçam o sangue do meu sacrifício com pão levedado. O sacrifício da Festa da Páscoa não deve ficar da noite para a manhã do dia seguinte. 26 Tragam as primícias dos primeiros frutos da terra à casa do Senhor, seu Deus. Não cozinhem o cabrito no leite da sua própria mãe.

27 O Senhor disse ainda a Moisés:

— Escreva estas palavras, porque, segundo o teor destas palavras, fiz aliança com você e com Israel.

28 E Moisés esteve ali com o Senhor quarenta dias e quarenta noites. Não comeu pão nem bebeu água. E escreveu nas tábuas as palavras da aliança, as dez palavras.

29 Quando Moisés desceu do monte Sinai, tendo nas mãos as duas tábuas do testemunho, sim, quando desceu do monte, Moisés não sabia que a pele do seu rosto resplandecia, depois de Deus ter falado com ele. 30 Quando Arão e todos os filhos de Israel olharam para Moisés, eis que a pele do seu rosto resplandecia; e ficaram com medo de chegar perto dele. 31 Então Moisés os chamou. Arão e todos os chefes da congregação foram até ele, e Moisés lhes falou. 32 Depois, vieram também todos os filhos de Israel, aos quais Moisés ordenou tudo o que o Senhor lhe havia falado no monte Sinai. 33 Quando Moisés acabou de falar com eles, pôs um véu sobre o rosto. 34 Porém, quando Moisés vinha diante do Senhor para falar-lhe, removia o véu até sair; e, saindo, dizia aos filhos de Israel tudo o que lhe tinha sido ordenado. 35 Assim, os filhos de Israel viam o rosto de Moisés, viam que a pele do seu rosto resplandecia; porém Moisés cobria de novo o rosto com o véu até entrar para falar com o Senhor.

1 And LORD said to Moses, Hew thee two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write upon the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which thou broke.2 And be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me on the top of the mount.3 And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount, neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.4 And he hewed two tablets of stone like the first. And Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up to mount Sinai, as LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand two tablets of stone.5 And LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of LORD.6 And LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, LORD, LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth,7 keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and who will by no means clear [the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, upon the th8 And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.9 And he said, If now I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, let the Lord, I pray thee, go in the midst of us, for it is a stiff-necked people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.10 And he said, Behold, I make a covenant. Before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been wrought in all the earth, nor in any nation, and all the people among which thou are shall see the work of LORD, for it is an aw11 Observe thou that which I command thee this day. Behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.12 Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where thou go, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee.13 But ye shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and ye shall cut down their Asherim,14 for thou shall worship no other god. For LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.15 Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they play the harlot after their gods, and sacrifice to their gods, and [a man] calls thee and thou eat of his sacrifice,16 and thou take of their daughters to thy sons, and their daughters play the harlot after their gods, and make thy sons play the harlot after their gods.17 Thou shall make thee no molten gods.18 Thou shall keep the feast of unleavened bread. Seven days thou shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, at the time appointed in the month Abib, for in the month Abib thou came out from Egypt.19 All that opens the womb is mine, and all thy cattle that is male, the firstlings of cow and sheep.20 And the firstling of a donkey thou shall redeem with a lamb, and if thou will not redeem it, then thou shall break its neck. All the first-born of thy sons thou shall redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.21 Six days thou shall work, but on the seventh day thou shall rest; in plowing time and in harvest thou shall rest.22 And thou shall observe the feast of weeks, [even] of the first-fruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.23 Three times in the year all thy males shall appear before lord LORD, the God of Israel.24 For I will cast out nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders. Neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou go up to appear before LORD thy God three times in the year.25 Thou shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread, nor shall the sacrifice of the feast of the Passover be left to the morning.26 The first of the first-fruits of thy ground thou shall bring to the house of LORD thy God. Thou shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk.27 And LORD said to Moses, Write thou these words, for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.28 And he was there with LORD forty days and forty nights. He neither ate bread, nor drank water, and he wrote upon the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.29 And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tablets of the testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone by reason of his speaking wi30 And when Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.31 And Moses called to them. And Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him, and Moses spoke to them.32 And afterward all the sons of Israel came near, and he gave them in commandment all that LORD had spoken with him on mount Sinai.33 And when Moses was done speaking with them, he put a veil on his face.34 But when Moses went in before LORD to speak with him, he took the veil off, until he came out. And he came out, and spoke to the sons of Israel that which he was commanded.35 And the sons of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone. And Moses put the veil upon his face again until he went in to speak with him.
