1 Antigamente, Deus falou, muitas vezes e de muitas maneiras, aos pais, pelos profetas, 2 mas, nestes últimos dias, nos falou pelo Filho, a quem constituiu herdeiro de todas as coisas e pelo qual também fez o universo. 3 O Filho, que é o resplendor da glória de Deus e a expressão exata do seu Ser, sustentando todas as coisas pela sua palavra poderosa, depois de ter feito a purificação dos pecados, assentou-se à direita da Majestade, nas alturas, 4 tendo-se tornado tão superior aos anjos quanto herdou mais excelente nome do que eles.

5 Pois a qual dos anjos Deus em algum momento disse:

"Você é meu Filho,

hoje eu gerei você"?

E, outra vez:

"Eu lhe serei Pai,

e ele me será Filho"?

6 E, novamente, ao introduzir o Primogênito no mundo, diz:

"E todos os anjos de Deus

o adorem."

7 Ainda, quanto aos anjos, diz:

"Aquele que a seus anjos

faz ventos,

e a seus ministros,

labareda de fogo."

8 Mas, a respeito do Filho, diz:

"O teu trono, ó Deus,

é para todo o sempre;

cetro de justiça

é o cetro do teu reino.

9 Amaste a justiça

e odiaste a iniquidade;

por isso, Deus, o teu Deus,

te ungiu com o óleo de alegria

como a nenhum

dos teus companheiros."

10 Diz ainda:

"No princípio, Senhor, lançaste

os fundamentos da terra,

e os céus são obra das tuas mãos.

11 Eles perecerão,

mas tu permaneces;

todos eles envelhecerão

como veste;

12 como manto tu os enrolarás,

e, como roupas,

serão igualmente mudados.

Tu, porém, és o mesmo,

e os teus anos jamais terão fim."

13 Ora, a qual dos anjos Deus em algum momento disse:

"Sente-se à minha direita,

até que eu ponha os seus inimigos

por estrado dos seus pés"?

14 Não são todos eles espíritos ministradores, enviados para serviço a favor dos que hão de herdar a salvação?

1 God, who formerly spoke in many portions and in many ways to the fathers by the prophets, spoke to us in these last days by a Son,2 whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the ages.3 Who, being the radiance of his glory, and the exact image of his essence, and upholding all things by the word of his power, having made purification of our sins through himself, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in the4 Having become so much better than the heavenly agents, as he has inherited a more excellent name than they.5 For to which of the heavenly agents did he ever say, Thou are my Son, today I have begotten thee? And again, I will be to him for a Father, and he will be to me for a Son?6 And again when he brings the firstborn into the world he says, And let all the agents of God worship him.7 And indeed toward the heavenly agents he says, He who makes his agents spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.8 But toward the Son, Thy throne, O God, is into the age of the age. The scepter of thy kingdom is a scepter of straightness.9 Thou have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness. Because of this, God, thy God, anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy companions.10 And thou, Lord, at the beginnings founded the earth, and the heavens are the works of thy hands.11 They will perish, but thou are permanent. And they will all become old as a garment.12 And thou will roll them up as a mantle, and they will be changed. But thou are the same, and thy years will not cease.13 But to which of the heavenly agents has he ever said, Sit thou by my right hand until I place thine enemies a footstool of thy feet?14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth for service for the sake of those who are going to inherit salvation?
