1 Palavra que foi dita a Jeremias da parte do Senhor:
2 — Assim diz o Senhor, Deus de Israel: Escreva num livro todas as palavras que eu lhe falei. 3 Porque eis que vêm dias, diz o Senhor, em que mudarei a sorte do meu povo de Israel e de Judá, diz o Senhor. Farei com que voltem para a terra que dei aos seus pais, e eles a possuirão.
4 São estas as palavras que o Senhor falou a respeito de Israel e de Judá:
5 Assim diz o Senhor:
"Ouvimos um grito de terror,
um grito de medo e não de paz.
6 Perguntem e vejam se um homem
pode dar à luz uma criança?
Por que, então,
vejo todos esses homens
com as mãos na cintura,
como se fossem uma mulher
que está dando à luz?
E por que se tornaram pálidos
todos os rostos?
7 Ah! Que grande é aquele dia,
e não há outro semelhante!
É tempo de angústia para Jacó,
mas ele será salvo dela."
8 — Naquele dia, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, eu quebrarei o jugo que está sobre o pescoço de vocês e despedaçarei as correias. E nunca mais estrangeiros irão escravizar este povo, 9 que servirá ao Senhor, seu Deus, e também a Davi, que lhes darei como rei.
10 "Portanto, não tenha medo,
meu servo Jacó",
diz o Senhor,
"nem se atemorize, ó Israel.
Pois eis que eu o livrarei
dessa terra distante
e salvarei a sua descendência
da terra do exílio.
Jacó voltará e ficará tranquilo
e sossegado;
e não haverá quem o atemorize.
11 Porque eu estou com você
para salvá-lo",
diz o Senhor.
"Por isso, destruirei
completamente
todas as nações
por onde o espalhei.
A você eu não destruirei
completamente,
mas castigarei em justa medida;
de modo nenhum
deixarei você impune."
12 Porque assim diz o Senhor:
"A sua ferida é incurável,
o seu ferimento é grave.
13 Não há quem defenda
a sua causa;
não há remédio nem cura
para a sua ferida.
14 Todos os seus amantes
se esqueceram de você;
já não perguntam por você.
Porque eu a feri
como se você fosse um inimigo;
o castigo foi cruel,
por causa da grandeza
da sua maldade
e da multidão dos seus pecados.
15 Por que você grita
por causa da sua ferida?
Essa sua dor é incurável.
Por causa da grandeza
de sua maldade
e da multidão dos seus pecados
é que eu fiz estas coisas.
16 Por isso, todos os que a devoram
serão devorados,
e todos os seus inimigos
serão levados,
cada um deles para o cativeiro.
Aqueles que a despojam
serão despojados,
e entregarei ao saque
todos os que a saqueiam.
17 Porque restaurarei a sua saúde
e curarei as suas feridas",
diz o Senhor.
"Porque chamaram você
de repudiada, dizendo:
‘É Sião, ninguém mais
pergunta por ela.’"
18 Assim diz o Senhor:
"Eis que restaurarei a sorte
das tendas de Jacó
e me compadecerei
das suas moradas.
A cidade será reedificada
sobre o seu montão de ruínas,
e o palácio será habitado outra vez.
19 De lá sairão ações de graças
e os gritos dos que se alegram.
Eu os multiplicarei,
e não serão diminuídos;
eu os glorificarei,
e não serão desprezados.
20 Os seus filhos serão
como antigamente,
e a sua congregação será firmada
diante de mim;
e castigarei
todos os seus opressores.
21 O seu príncipe procederá deles,
do meio deles sairá aquele
que há de reinar.
Farei com que ele se aproxime,
e ele chegará perto de mim;
pois quem por si mesmo ousaria
aproximar-se de mim?" —
diz o Senhor.
22 "Vocês serão o meu povo,
e eu serei o seu Deus."
23 Eis a tempestade do Senhor!
O furor saiu,
uma tempestade passou
sobre a cabeça dos ímpios.
24 O furor da ira do Senhor
não se desviará
até que ele execute e cumpra
os desígnios do seu coração.
Nos últimos dias,
vocês entenderão isso.

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from LORD, saying,2 Thus speaks LORD, the God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken to thee in a book.3 For, lo, the days come, says LORD, that I will turn again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, says LORD, and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.4 And these are the words that LORD spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah.5 For thus says LORD: We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.6 Ask ye now, and see whether a man travails with child. Why do I see every man with his hands on his loins as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?7 Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it. It is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.8 And it shall come to pass in that day, says LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds. And strangers shall no more make him their bondman,9 but they shall serve LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up to them.10 Therefore fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, says LORD, nor be dismayed, O Israel. For, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity, and Jacob shall return, and shall be quiet and at ease, and none11 For I am with thee, says LORD, to save thee. For I will make a full end of all the nations where I have scattered thee, but I will not make a full end of thee. But I will correct thee in measure, and will in no way leave thee unpun12 For thus says LORD, Thy hurt is incurable, and thy wound grievous.13 There is none to plead thy cause, that thou may be bound up; thou have no healing medicines.14 All who love thee have forgotten thee; they seek thee not. For I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of thine iniquity, because thy sins were increased.15 Why do thou cry for thy hurt? Thy pain is incurable, for the greatness of thine iniquity. Because thy sins were increased, I have done these things to thee.16 Therefore all those who devour thee shall be devoured, and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity. And those who despoil thee shall be a spoil, and all who prey upon thee I will give for a prey.17 For I will restore health to thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, says LORD, because they have called thee an outcast, [saying], It is Zion, whom no man seeks after.18 Thus says LORD: Behold, I will turn again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have compassion on his dwelling-places. And the city shall be built upon its own hill, and the palace shall be inhabited after its own manner.19 And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of those who make merry. And I will multiply them, and they shall not be few. I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.20 Their sons also shall be as formerly, and their congregation shall be established before me. And I will punish all who oppress them.21 And their prince shall be of themselves, and their ruler shall proceed from the midst of them. And I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach to me. For who is he who has had boldness to approach to me? says LORD.22 And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.23 Behold, the tempest of LORD--wrath--has gone forth, a sweeping tempest. It shall burst upon the head of the wicked.24 The fierce anger of LORD shall not return until he has executed, and till he has performed the intents of his heart. In the latter days ye shall understand it.
