1 Naquele dia Débora e Baraque, filho de Abinoão, cantaram assim:

2 Porque os chefes se puseram

à frente de Israel,

e o povo se ofereceu

voluntariamente,

bendigam o Senhor!

3 Escutem, ó reis!

Ouçam, ó príncipes!

Eu, eu mesma cantarei

ao Senhor;

salmodiarei ao Senhor,

Deus de Israel.

4 Quando tu, ó Senhor,

saíste de Seir,

marchando desde o campo

de Edom,

a terra estremeceu;

os céus gotejaram,

sim, até as nuvens gotejaram água.

5 Os montes tremeram

diante do Senhor,

e até o Sinai, diante do Senhor,

Deus de Israel.

6 Nos dias de Sangar,

filho de Anate,

nos dias de Jael,

cessaram as caravanas;

e os viajantes tomavam

desvios tortuosos.

7 Ficaram desertas

as aldeias em Israel,

ficaram desertas até que eu,

Débora, me levantei;

levantei-me por mãe em Israel.

8 Escolheram-se deuses novos;

então a guerra estava às portas;

não se via escudo nem lança

entre quarenta mil em Israel.

9 Meu coração está

com os comandantes de Israel,

que, voluntariamente,

10 Vocês que cavalgam

jumentas brancas,

que se assentam em juízo

e que andam pelo caminho,

falem disto.

11 À música dos distribuidores

de água,

lá entre os canais dos rebanhos,

falem dos atos de justiça

do Senhor,

das justiças a favor

de suas aldeias em Israel.

Então o povo do Senhor pôde

descer aos portões da cidade.

12 Desperte, Débora, desperte!

Desperte, acorde,

entoe um cântico!

Levante-se, Baraque,

filho de Abinoão,

e leve presos os que o prenderam.

13 Então desceu

o restante dos nobres,

o povo do Senhor em meu auxílio

contra os poderosos.

14 De Efraim, cujas raízes estão

na antiga região de Amaleque,

desceram guerreiros;

depois de você, ó Débora,

seguiu Benjamim com seus povos;

de Maquir desceram comandantes,

e, de Zebulom, os que levam

a vara de comando.

15 Também os príncipes de Issacar

foram com Débora;

Issacar seguiu Baraque,

em cujas pegadas

foi enviado para o vale.

entre os currais

e Dã, por que se deteve

junto a seus navios?

e repousou nas suas baías.

18 Zebulom é povo

que arriscou a sua vida,

bem como Naftali,

nas alturas do campo.

19 Vieram reis e lutaram.

Os reis de Canaã lutaram

em Taanaque,

junto às águas de Megido,

mas não levaram

nenhum despojo de prata.

20 Lá do céu as estrelas lutaram;

desde os lugares dos seus cursos

lutaram contra Sísera.

21 O ribeiro de Quisom os arrastou,

Quisom, o antigo ribeiro.

Avante, ó minha alma, firme!

22 Então os cascos dos cavalos

socavam pelo galopar,

o galopar dos seus guerreiros.

23 Amaldiçoem Meroz,

diz o Anjo do Senhor,

amaldiçoem duramente

os seus moradores,

porque não vieram

em socorro do Senhor,

em socorro do Senhor

e seus heróis.

24 Que a mais bendita

entre as mulheres seja Jael,

mulher de Héber, o queneu;

que seja a mais bendita

entre as mulheres

que vivem em tendas.

25 Sísera pediu água,

e ela lhe deu leite;

em taça de príncipes

lhe ofereceu nata.

26 Ela estendeu uma das mãos

e apanhou a estaca,

e, com a mão direita,

pegou o martelo

dos trabalhadores.

Golpeou Sísera,

rachou-lhe a cabeça,

furou e atravessou-lhe

as têmporas.

27 Aos pés dela ele se encurvou,

caiu e ficou estirado;

a seus pés se encurvou e caiu;

onde se encurvou, ali caiu morto.

28 A mãe de Sísera

olhava pela janela

e exclamava pela grade:

"Por que tarda em vir o seu carro?

Por que se demoram

os passos dos seus cavalos?"

29 As mais sábias das suas damas

respondem,

e até ela a si mesma respondia:

30 "Não é verdade que acharam

e estão repartindo os despojos?

Uma ou duas moças

para cada homem;

tecidos de várias cores para Sísera,

tecidos de várias cores

de bordados;

um ou dois tecidos bordados,

para o pescoço da esposa."

31 Assim, ó Senhor, pereçam

todos os teus inimigos!

Porém os que te amam

brilhem como o sol

quando se levanta

no seu esplendor.

E a terra ficou em paz durante quarenta anos.

1 Then Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam sang on that day, saying,2 That the leaders took the lead in Israel, that the people offered themselves willingly, bless ye LORD.3 Hear, O ye kings. Give ear, O ye rulers. I, [even] I, will sing to LORD. I will sing praise to LORD, the God of Israel.4 LORD, when thou went forth out of Seir, when thou marched out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, the heavens also dropped, yea, the clouds dropped water.5 The mountains quaked at the presence of LORD, even yon Sinai at the presence of LORD, the God of Israel.6 In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travelers walked through byways.7 The rulers ceased in Israel, they ceased, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.8 They chose new gods, then war was in the gates. Was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?9 My heart is toward the governors of Israel, who offered themselves willingly among the people. LORD came down for me against the mighty.14 Out of Ephraim, those whose root is in Amalek, after thee, Benjamin, among thy peoples, out of Machir, came down governors, and out of Zebulun those who handle the marshal's staff.15 And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah, as was Issachar, so was Barak, into the valley they rushed forth at his feet. By the watercourses of Reuben there were great resolves of heart.16 Why did thou sit among the sheepfolds, to hear the pipings for the flocks? At the watercourses of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.17 Gilead abode beyond the Jordan. And Dan, why did he remain in ships? Asher sat still at the haven of the sea, and abode by his creeks.18 Zebulun was a people who jeopardized their lives to the death, and Naphtali, upon the high places of the field.19 The kings came and fought. Then the kings of Canaan fought in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo. They took no gain of money.20 From heaven the stars fought; from their courses they fought against Sisera.21 The river Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, march on with strength.22 Then the horse hoofs stamped by reason of the prancings, the prancings of their strong ones.23 Curse ye Meroz, said the agent of LORD. Curse ye bitterly the inhabitants of it, because they did not come to the help of LORD, to the help of LORD against the mighty.24 Blessed above women shall Jael be, the wife of Heber the Kenite. Blessed shall she be above women in the tent.25 He asked water. She gave him milk. She brought him butter in a lordly dish.26 She put her hand to the tent-pin, and her right hand to the workmen's hammer. And with the hammer she smote Sisera; she struck through his head. Yea, she pierced and struck through his temples.27 At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay. At her feet he bowed, he fell. Where he bowed, there he fell down dead.28 Through the window she looked forth, and cried--the mother of Sisera through the lattice--Why is his chariot so long in coming? Why do the wheels of his chariots delay?29 Her wise ladies answered her, yea, she returned answer to herself,30 Have they not found, have they not divided the spoil? A damsel, two damsels to every man, to Sisera a spoil of dyed garments, a spoil of dyed garments embroidered, of dyed garments embroidered on both sides, on the necks of the spo31 So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD, but let those who love him be as the sun when he goes forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.
