1 Então a palavra do Senhor veio a Jeú, filho de Hanani, contra Baasa, dizendo:

2 — Eu o levantei do pó e fiz com que você se tornasse chefe sobre o meu povo de Israel, mas você tem andado no caminho de Jeroboão e tem feito o meu povo de Israel pecar, irritando-me com os seus pecados. 3 Por isso, Baasa, vou exterminar você e os seus descendentes e vou fazer com a sua casa o que fiz com a casa de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate. 4 Se alguém da casa de Baasa morrer na cidade, os cães o comerão; e se alguém morrer no campo, as aves do céu o comerão.

5 Quanto aos demais atos de Baasa, ao que fez e ao seu poder, não está tudo escrito no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel? 6 Baasa morreu e foi sepultado em Tirza. E Elá, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

7 Assim, por meio do profeta Jeú, filho de Hanani, a palavra do Senhor veio contra Baasa e contra a sua descendência, por todo o mal que ele havia feito aos olhos do Senhor, irritando-o com as suas obras e fazendo-se igual à casa de Jeroboão, e também porque matou a casa de Jeroboão.

8 No vigésimo sexto ano do reinado de Asa, rei de Judá, Elá, filho de Baasa, começou a reinar sobre Israel em Tirza; e reinou dois anos. 9 Zinri, seu servo, comandante da metade dos carros de guerra, conspirou contra ele. Elá estava em Tirza, bebendo e embriagando-se na casa de Arsa, seu encarregado em Tirza. 10 Zinri entrou na casa, atacou Elá e o matou, no vigésimo sétimo ano do reinado de Asa, rei de Judá. E Zinri reinou em lugar de Elá.

11 Logo que começou a reinar e se assentou no trono, Zinri matou todos os descendentes de Baasa; não lhe deixou nenhum do sexo masculino, nem dos parentes, nem dos seus amigos. 12 Assim, Zinri exterminou todos os descendentes de Baasa, segundo a palavra do Senhor, anunciada por meio do profeta Jeú, contra Baasa, 13 por todos os pecados que Baasa e o seu filho Elá cometeram, e pelos pecados que fizeram Israel cometer, irritando o Senhor, Deus de Israel, com os seus ídolos.

14 Quanto aos demais atos de Elá e a tudo o que ele fez, não está tudo escrito no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel?

15 No vigésimo sétimo ano do reinado de Asa, rei de Judá, Zinri reinou sete dias em Tirza. O povo estava acampado contra Gibetom, cidade que pertencia aos filisteus. 16 O povo que estava acampado ouviu dizer: "Zinri conspirou contra o rei e o matou." Por isso, naquele mesmo dia, no arraial, todo o Israel constituiu rei sobre Israel a Onri, comandante do exército. 17 Onri saiu de Gibetom, estando todo o Israel com ele, e sitiou Tirza. 18 Quando Zinri viu que a cidade havia sido tomada, foi para a fortaleza do palácio real, pôs fogo no palácio real e morreu, 19 por causa dos pecados que havia cometido, fazendo o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor, andando no caminho de Jeroboão e no pecado que havia cometido, e fazendo Israel pecar.

20 Quanto aos demais atos de Zinri e à conspiração que fez, não está tudo escrito no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel?

21 Então o povo de Israel se dividiu em dois partidos: metade do povo seguia Tibni, filho de Ginate, para o fazer rei, e a outra metade seguia Onri. 22 Mas o povo que seguia Onri prevaleceu contra o que seguia Tibni, filho de Ginate. Tibni morreu, e Onri passou a reinar. 23 No trigésimo primeiro ano do reinado de Asa, rei de Judá, Onri começou a reinar sobre Israel e reinou doze anos. Em Tirza, reinou seis anos. 24 De Semer ele comprou o monte de Samaria por sessenta e oito quilos de prata e o fortificou. E à cidade que edificou sobre o monte chamou de Samaria, nome oriundo de Semer, dono do monte.

25 Onri fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor; fez pior do que todos os reis que vieram antes dele. 26 Andou em todos os caminhos de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, bem como nos pecados que este levou Israel a cometer, irritando o Senhor, Deus de Israel, com os seus ídolos.

27 Quanto aos demais atos de Onri, ao que fez e ao poder que manifestou, não está tudo escrito no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel? 28 Onri morreu e foi sepultado em Samaria. E Acabe, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

29 Acabe, filho de Onri, começou a reinar sobre Israel no trigésimo oitavo ano do reinado de Asa, rei de Judá. E Acabe, filho de Onri, reinou sobre Israel, em Samaria, vinte e dois anos. 30 Acabe, filho de Onri, fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor, mais do que todos os reis que vieram antes dele. 31 Como se fosse pouca coisa andar nos pecados de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, Acabe foi mais longe e tomou por mulher Jezabel, filha de Etbaal, rei dos sidônios; e foi, serviu Baal e o adorou. 32 Levantou um altar a Baal, no templo de Baal que tinha edificado em Samaria. 33 Acabe fez também um poste da deusa Aserá, de maneira que cometeu mais abominações para irritar o Senhor, Deus de Israel, do que todos os reis de Israel que vieram antes dele.

34 Em seus dias, Hiel, o betelita, edificou Jericó. Quando ele lançou os alicerces da cidade, morreu Abirão, seu filho primogênito; e, quando colocou os portões, morreu Segube, seu filho mais novo, segundo a palavra do Senhor, anunciada por meio de Josué, filho de Num.

1 Yahweh’s word came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying, 2 "Because I exalted you out of the dust and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins, 3 behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat. 4 The dogs will eat Baasha’s descendants who die in the city; and he who dies of his in the field, the birds of the sky will eat."

5 Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 6 Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah; and Elah his son reigned in his place.

7 Moreover Yahweh’s word came by the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha and against his house, both because of all the evil that he did in Yahweh’s sight, to provoke him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam, and because he struck him.

8 In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah the son of Baasha began to reign over Israel in Tirzah for two years. 9 His servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him. Now he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah; 10 and Zimri went in and struck him and killed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his place.

11 When he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, he attacked all the house of Baasha. He didn’t leave him a single one who urinates on a wall among his relatives or his friends. 12 Thus Zimri destroyed all the house of Baasha, according to Yahweh’s word which he spoke against Baasha by Jehu the prophet, 13 for all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, which they sinned and with which they made Israel to sin, to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities. 14 Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

15 In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned seven days in Tirzah. Now the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines. 16 The people who were encamped heard that Zimri had conspired, and had also killed the king. Therefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the army, king over Israel that day in the camp. 17 Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah. 18 When Zimri saw that the city was taken, he went into the fortified part of the king’s house and burned the king’s house over him with fire, and died, 19 for his sins which he sinned in doing that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did to make Israel to sin. 20 Now the rest of the acts of Zimri, and his treason that he committed, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

21 Then the people of Israel were divided into two parts: half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king, and half followed Omri. 22 But the people who followed Omri prevailed against the people who followed Tibni the son of Ginath; so Tibni died, and Omri reigned. 23 In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri began to reign over Israel for twelve years. He reigned six years in Tirzah. 24 He bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver; and he built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, Samaria, after the name of Shemer, the owner of the hill. 25 Omri did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and dealt wickedly above all who were before him. 26 For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sins with which he made Israel to sin, to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities. 27 Now the rest of the acts of Omri which he did, and his might that he showed, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 28 So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria; and Ahab his son reigned in his place.

29 In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab the son of Omri began to reign over Israel. Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years. 30 Ahab the son of Omri did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight above all that were before him. 31 As if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he took as wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal and worshiped him. 32 He raised up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. 33 Ahab made the Asherah; and Ahab did more yet to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him. 34 In his days Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho. He laid its foundation with the loss of Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to Yahweh’s word, which he spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.
