1 Naquele dia Débora e Baraque, filho de Abinoão, cantaram assim:
2 Louvem a Deus, o Senhor!
Os israelitas resolveram lutar,
e o povo se apresentou alegremente!
3 Ouçam, reis!
Prestem atenção, governadores!
Eu tocarei música e cantarei
ao Senhor, o Deus de Israel!
4 Ó Senhor Deus, quando saíste das montanhas de Seir,
quando vieste da região de Edom,
a terra tremeu, e as chuvas caíram do céu.
Sim, caiu muita água das nuvens.
5 As montanhas tremeram diante do Senhor, o Deus do monte Sinai,
diante do Senhor, o Deus de Israel.
6 Nos dias de Sangar, filho de Anate,
nos dias de Jael,
as estradas estavam desertas,
e os viajantes usavam os desvios.
7 Nas cidades de Israel não havia ninguém;
elas ficaram vazias até que você, Débora, veio,
para ser mãe de Israel.
8 Os israelitas escolheram novos deuses,
e então houve guerra no país.
E dos quarenta mil homens de Israel
nenhum carregava escudo ou lança!
9 O meu coração está com os comandantes de Israel,
com o povo que se ofereceu alegremente.
Louvem a Deus, o Senhor!
10 Falem disso, vocês que montam jumentos brancos,
sentados nas suas selas,
e os que viajam a pé.
11 Escutem! A multidão barulhenta em volta dos poços
está falando das vitórias do Senhor,
das vitórias do povo de Israel!
Então o povo do Senhor desceu para as suas cidades.
12 Levante-se, Débora, levante-se!
Levante-se! Cante uma canção! Levante-se!
Marche, Baraque, filho de Abinoão,
e leve presos os que o prenderam!
13 Então os que tinham fé foram para onde estavam os seus chefes,
e o povo de Deus, o Senhor, pronto para lutar,
foi encontrar-se com Baraque.
14 Eles saíram de Efraim e foram para o vale,
atrás da tribo de Benjamim e do seu povo.
De Maquir desceram os comandantes,
e de Zebulom vieram os oficiais.
15 Os chefes de Issacar foram com Débora.
Sim, a tribo de Issacar foi, e Baraque também.
Eles o seguiram até o vale.
Mas a tribo de Rúben estava dividida;
eles discutiram e não foram.
16 Por que resolveram ficar lá com as ovelhas?
Será que foi para ouvir os pastores chamarem o rebanho?
Sim, a tribo de Rúben estava dividida;
eles discutiram e não foram.
17 A tribo de Gade ficou a leste do rio Jordão,
e a tribo de Dã, nas pastagens.
A tribo de Aser parou perto do mar
e ficou na beira das praias.
18 Mas o povo de Zebulom e de Naftali
arriscou a sua vida no campo de batalha.
19 Os reis vieram e lutaram
em Taanaque, perto do riacho de Megido.
Os reis de Canaã lutaram,
mas não tomaram dos inimigos nenhuma prata.
20 Até as estrelas lutaram:
enquanto caminhavam pelo céu,
elas lutaram contra Sísera.
21 Os inimigos foram arrastados por uma enchente do rio Quisom,
o velho rio Quisom.
Eu marcharei, marcharei com firmeza!
22 Então os cavalos galoparam e galoparam,
socando a terra com os seus cascos.
23 "Amaldiçoem a cidade de Meroz",
diz o Anjo do Senhor;
"amaldiçoem, amaldiçoem os seus moradores,
pois eles não vieram ajudar o Senhor,
não vieram como soldados para lutar por ele."
24 A mais feliz das mulheres é Jael,
a mulher de Héber, o queneu.
Ela é a mais feliz das mulheres que vivem em barracas.
25 Sísera pediu água, porém ela lhe deu leite;
trouxe nata para ele numa linda taça.
26 Pegou a estaca com uma das mãos
e a marreta com a outra.
Deu um golpe em Sísera e esmagou a sua cabeça;
furou e quebrou a sua cabeça em pedaços.
27 Ele caiu de joelhos,
tombou e ficou estendido a seus pés.
A seus pés ele caiu de joelhos e tombou;
ele caiu morto no chão.
28 A mãe de Sísera olhou pela janela da sua casa;
olhou bem, pela grade da janela, e disse:
"Por que o seu carro demora tanto para chegar?
Por que os seus cavalos andam tão devagar?"
29 As suas acompanhantes mais sábias respondiam,
e ela repetia para si mesma:
30 "Eles devem estar dividindo as coisas que tomaram:
uma ou duas moças para cada soldado,
roupas luxuosas para Sísera
e panos bordados para o pescoço da rainha."
31 Assim, ó Senhor Deus, morram todos os teus inimigos,
porém que os teus amigos brilhem
como a forte luz do sol nascente!
E houve paz no país durante quarenta anos.

1 Then Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam sang on that day, saying,2 "Because the leaders took the lead in Israel,because the people offered themselves willingly,be blessed, Lord!3 "Hear, you kings!Give ear, you princes!I, even I, will sing to the Lord.I will sing praise to the Lord, the God of Israel.4 "Lord, when you went forth out of Seir,when you marched out of the field of Edom,the earth trembled, the sky also dropped.Yes, the clouds dropped water.5 The mountains quaked at the presence of the Lord,even Sinai, at the presence of the Lord, the God of Israel.6 "In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath,in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied.The travelers walked through byways.7 The rulers ceased in Israel.They ceased until I, Deborah, arose;Until I arose a mother in Israel.8 They chose new gods.Then war was in the gates.Was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?9 My heart is toward the leaders of Israel,who offered themselves willingly among the people.Bless the Lord!10 "Speak, you who ride on white donkeys,you who sit on rich carpets,and you who walk by the way.11 Far from the noise of archers, in the places of drawing water,there they will rehearse the righteous acts of the Lord,the righteous acts of his rule in Israel."Then the people of the Lord went down to the gates.12 'Awake, awake, Deborah!Awake, awake, utter a song!Arise, Barak, and lead away your captives, you son of Abinoam.'13 "Then a remnant of the nobles and the people came down.The Lord came down for me against the warriors.14 Those whose root is in Amalek came out of Ephraim,after you, Benjamin, among your peoples; out of Machir leaders came down, and out of Zebulun those that handle the staff of office.15 And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah.As was Issachar, so was Barak.They rushed into the valley at his feet.By the watercourses of Reuben,there were great resolves of heart.16 Why did you sit among the sheepfolds,to hear the whistling for the flocks?At the watercourses of ReubenThere were great searchings of heart.17 Gilead lived beyond the Jordan.Why did Dan remain in ships?Asher sat still at the haven of the sea,and lived by his harbors.18 Zebulun was a people that risked their lives even to death;Naphtali also, on the high places of the field.19 The kings came and fought,then the kings of Canaan fought at Taanach by the waters of Megiddo.They took no plunder of silver.20 From the sky the stars fought.From their courses, they fought against Sisera.21 The river Kishon swept them away,that ancient river, the river Kishon.My soul, march on with strength.22 Then the horse hoofs stamped because of the prancings,the prancings of their strong ones.23 Curse Meroz, said the angel of the Lord.Curse bitterly its inhabitants,because they did not come to help the Lord,to help the Lord against the mighty.24 Jael shall be blessed above women,the wife of Heber the Kenite;blessed shall she be above women in the tent.25 He asked for water.She gave him milk.She brought him butter in a princely bowl.26 She put her hand to the tent peg,and her right hand to the workmen's hammer.With the hammer she struck Sisera.She struck through his head.Yes, she pierced and struck through his temple.27 At her feet he collapsed, he fell, he lay.At her feet he collapsed, he fell.Where he collapsed, there he fell down dead.28 Through the window she looked out, and cried:Sisera's mother looked through the lattice.Why is his chariot so long in coming?Why are the hoofbeats of his chariots delayed?29 Her wise ladies answered her;indeed, she answers herself,30 'Have they not found, have they not divided the spoil?A lady, two ladies to every man;to Sisera a spoil of dyed garments,A spoil of dyed garments embroidered,Of dyed garments embroidered on both sides, for the neck of the plunderer?'31 "So let all your enemies perish, Lord,but let those who love him be as the sun when it rises forth in its strength."And the land had rest forty years.
