Vestes limpas para o sumo sacerdote

1 Depois disso, ele me mostrou o sumo sacerdote Josué diante do anjo do Senhor, e Satanás, à sua direita, para acusá-lo. 2 O anjo do Senhor*3.2 Conforme a Versão Siríaca. O Texto Massorético e a Septuaginta trazem apenas Senhor. disse a Satanás:

— O Senhor o repreenda, Satanás! O Senhor, que escolheu Jerusalém, o repreenda! Este homem não parece um tição tirado do fogo?

3 Ora, Josué, vestido de roupas impuras, estava em pé diante do anjo. 4 O anjo disse aos que estavam diante dele:

— Tirem as roupas impuras dele.

Depois, disse a Josué:

— Veja, eu tirei de você o seu pecado e o vestirei com trajes nobres.

5 Então, eu disse:

— Coloquem um turbante limpo na cabeça dele.

Colocaram o turbante limpo nele e o vestiram, enquanto o anjo do Senhor permanecia ali.

6 O anjo do Senhor exortou Josué, dizendo:

7 — Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: "Se você andar nos meus caminhos e obedecer aos meus preceitos, governará a minha casa e também estará encarregado dos meus átrios, e eu darei a você um lugar entre estes que estão aqui. 8 Ouça bem, Josué, sumo sacerdote, e os seus companheiros sentados diante de você, homens que simbolizam coisas que virão:*3.8 Ou homens (que são) um presságio. trarei o meu servo, o Renovo. 9 Vejam a pedra que coloquei na frente de Josué! Ela tem sete olhos,*3.9 Ou faces. e eu gravarei nela uma inscrição", declara o Senhor dos Exércitos, "e removerei o pecado desta terra em um único dia". 10 "Naquele dia", declara o Senhor dos Exércitos, "cada um de vocês convidará o seu próximo para sentar-se debaixo da sua videira e debaixo da sua figueira".

1 And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of Jehovah, and Satan standing at his right hand to be his adversary. 2 And Jehovah said unto Satan, Jehovah rebuke thee, O Satan; yea, Jehovah that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? 3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the angel. 4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take the filthy garments from off him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with rich apparel. 5 And I said, Let them set a clean mitre upon his head. So they set a clean mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments; and the angel of Jehovah was standing by.

6 And the angel of Jehovah protested unto Joshua, saying, 7 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou also shalt judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee a place of access among these that stand by. 8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou and thy fellows that sit before thee; for they are men that are a sign: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch. 9 For, behold, the stone that I have set before Joshua; upon one stone are seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. 10 In that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, shall ye invite every man his neighbor under the vine and under the fig-tree.
