Isaías 63

O dia da vingança e da redenção

1 Quem é aquele que vem de Edom,

que vem de Bozra, com as roupas tingidas de vermelho?

Quem é aquele que, em um manto de esplendor,

avança a passos largos na grandeza da sua força?

"Sou eu, que falo com retidão,

poderoso para salvar."

2 Por que as tuas roupas estão vermelhas,

como as de quem pisa uvas no lagar?

3 "Sozinho pisei uvas no lagar;

ninguém das nações esteve comigo.

Eu as pisoteei na minha ira

e as pisei na minha indignação;

o sangue delas respingou na minha roupa,

e eu manchei toda a minha veste.

4 Pois o dia da vingança estava no meu coração,

e chegou o ano da minha redenção.

5 Olhei, e não havia ninguém que me ajudasse;

mostrei assombro, e não havia ninguém que me apoiasse.

Por isso, o meu braço me ajudou,

e a minha ira deu-me apoio.

6 Na minha ira, pisoteei as nações;

na minha indignação, eu as embebedei

e derramei na terra o sangue delas."

Oração e louvor

7 Trarei à lembrança os atos de amor leal do Senhor

e os seus feitos louváveis,

por tudo o que o Senhor fez por nós,

sim, de quanto bem ele fez ao povo de Israel,

conforme a sua compaixão

e a grandeza dos seus atos de amor leal.

8 "Sem dúvida, eles são o meu povo", disse ele;

"são filhos que não vão me trair";

assim, ele se tornou o Salvador deles.

9 Em toda a aflição do seu povo, ele também se afligiu,

e o anjo da sua presença os salvou.

No seu amor e na sua misericórdia, ele os resgatou;

foi ele que sempre os levantou

e os conduziu nos dias antigos.

10 Apesar disso, eles se revoltaram

e entristeceram o seu Espírito Santo.

Por isso, ele se tornou inimigo deles

e lutou pessoalmente contra eles.

11 Então, o seu povo recordou*63.11 Ou Que ele, porém, recorde o. os dias antigos,

o tempo de Moisés e a sua geração:

"Onde está aquele que os fez passar através do mar,

com o pastor do seu rebanho?

Onde está aquele que entre eles

pôs o seu Espírito Santo,

12 que conduziu o seu glorioso braço

à direita de Moisés,

que dividiu as águas diante deles

para alcançar renome eterno,

13 e os conduziu através das profundezas?

Como o cavalo no deserto,

eles não tropeçaram;

14 como o gado que desce à planície,

foi-lhes dado descanso pelo Espírito do Senhor".

Foi assim que guiaste o teu povo

para fazer-te um nome glorioso.

15 Olha dos altos céus,

da tua habitação elevada, santa e gloriosa.

Onde estão o teu zelo e o teu poder?

Retiveste a tua bondade e a tua compaixão por mim;

elas já nos faltam!

16 Entretanto, tu és o nosso Pai.

Abraão não nos conhece,

e Israel nos ignora;

tu, Senhor, és o nosso Pai;

desde a antiguidade, o teu nome é Redentor nosso.

17 Senhor, por que nos fazes andar longe dos teus caminhos

e endureces o nosso coração para não temermos a ti?

Volta, por amor dos teus servos,

por amor das tribos que são a tua herança!

18 Por pouco tempo, o teu povo santo possuiu o teu santo lugar;

depois, os nossos inimigos pisotearam o teu santuário.

19 Tornamo-nos como aqueles que jamais governaste,

como aqueles que nunca foram chamados pelo teu nome.

1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, marching in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. 2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winevat? 3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no man with me: yea, I trod them in mine anger, and trampled them in my wrath; and their lifeblood is sprinkled upon my garments, and I have stained all my raiment. 4 For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. 5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my wrath, it upheld me. 6 And I trod down the peoples in mine anger, and made them drunk in my wrath, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.

7 I will make mention of the lovingkindnesses of Jehovah, and the praises of Jehovah, according to all that Jehovah hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. 8 For he said, Surely, they are my people, children that will not deal falsely: so he was their Saviour. 9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

10 But they rebelled, and grieved his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and himself fought against them. 11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit in the midst of them? 12 that caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses? that divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name? 13 that led them through the depths, as a horse in the wilderness, so that they stumbled not? 14 As the cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of Jehovah caused them to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

15 Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where are thy zeal and thy mighty acts? the yearning of thy heart and thy compassions are restrained toward me. 16 For thou art our Father, though Abraham knoweth us not, and Israel doth not acknowledge us: thou, O Jehovah, art our Father; our Redeemer from everlasting is thy name. 17 O Jehovah, why dost thou make us to err from thy ways, and hardenest our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance. 18 Thy holy people possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary. 19 We are become as they over whom thou never barest rule, as they that were not called by thy name.
