Marcos 11

A entrada triunfal

1 Quando se aproximaram de Jerusalém e chegaram a Betfagé e Betânia, junto ao monte das Oliveiras, Jesus enviou dois dos seus discípulos, 2 dizendo-lhes:

— Vão ao povoado que está diante de vocês; ao entrarem, encontrarão um jumentinho amarrado, no qual ninguém jamais montou. Desamarrem-no e o tragam aqui. 3 Se alguém lhes perguntar: "Por que vocês estão fazendo isso?", digam-lhe: "O Senhor precisa dele e em breve o devolverá".

4 Eles partiram e encontraram um jumentinho na rua, amarrado a um portão, e o desamarraram. 5 Então, alguns dos que ali estavam lhes perguntaram:

— O que vocês estão fazendo, desamarrando esse jumentinho?

6 Os discípulos responderam como Jesus lhes tinha dito, e eles os deixaram ir. 7 Trouxeram o jumentinho a Jesus, colocaram sobre ele os seus mantos, e Jesus montou nele. 8 Muitos estenderam os seus mantos pelo caminho, e outros espalharam ramos que haviam cortado nos campos. 9 Os que iam adiante dele e os que o seguiam gritavam:

"Hosana!*11.9 Expressão hebraica que significa Salve! e que se tornou uma exclamação de louvor; também no versículo 10.

"Bendito é o que vem em nome do Senhor!*11.9 Sl 118.25,26.

10 "Bendito é o reino vindouro de Davi, nosso pai!

"Hosana nas alturas!".

11 Jesus entrou em Jerusalém e dirigiu-se ao templo. Observou tudo à sua volta e, como já era tarde, foi para Betânia com os Doze.

Jesus purifica o templo

12 No dia seguinte, quando estavam saindo de Betânia, Jesus teve fome. 13 Ao observar a certa distância uma figueira com folhas, foi ver se encontraria nela algum fruto. Aproximando-se dela, nada encontrou, a não ser folhas, porque não era tempo de figos. 14 Então, Jesus disse à figueira:

— Ninguém mais coma do seu fruto.

Os seus discípulos ouviram-no dizer isso.

15 Chegando a Jerusalém, Jesus entrou no templo e começou a expulsar os que estavam vendendo e comprando. Derrubou as mesas dos cambistas e as cadeiras dos que vendiam pombas 16 e não permitia que ninguém carregasse mercadorias pelo templo. 17 Ele os ensinava, dizendo:

— Não está escrito:

"A minha casa será chamada casa de oração

para todos os povos"?*11.17 Is 56.7.

— Mas vocês fizeram dela um "covil de ladrões".*11.17 Jr 7.11.

18 Os chefes dos sacerdotes e os mestres da lei ouviram essas palavras e começaram a procurar uma forma de matá-lo, pois o temiam, visto que toda a multidão estava maravilhada com o seu ensino.

19 Ao cair da tarde, eles*11.19 Há manuscritos que trazem ele saiu. saíram da cidade.

A figueira seca

20 De manhã, ao passarem, viram a figueira seca desde as raízes. 21 Pedro, lembrando-se, disse a Jesus:

— Rabi!*11.21 Isto é, Mestre. Vê! A figueira que amaldiçoaste secou!

22 Jesus respondeu:

— Tenham fé*11.22 Há manuscritos que trazem Se vocês tiverem fé. em Deus. 23 Em verdade lhes digo que, se alguém disser a este monte: "Levante-se e atire-se no mar", e não duvidar no seu coração, mas crer que acontecerá o que diz, assim lhe será feito. 24 Portanto, eu digo que tudo o que pedirem em oração, creiam que receberão, e assim sucederá. 25 Quando estiverem orando, se tiverem alguma coisa contra alguém, perdoem-no, para que também o Pai celestial perdoe as transgressões de vocês. 26 *11.26 Há manuscritos que acrescentam Mas, se não perdoarem, também o seu Pai, que está nos céus, não perdoará os pecados de vocês. Veja Mt 6.15.

A autoridade de Jesus é questionada

27 Chegaram novamente a Jerusalém e, quando Jesus estava passando pelo templo, aproximaram-se dele os chefes dos sacerdotes, os mestres da lei e os líderes religiosos, que lhe perguntaram:

28 — Com que autoridade você faz estas coisas? Quem lhe deu autoridade para fazê-las?

29 Jesus respondeu:

— Eu também farei uma pergunta. Respondam-me, e eu direi com que autoridade faço estas coisas. 30 O batismo de João era do céu ou dos homens? Digam-me!

31 Eles discutiam entre si, dizendo:

— Se dissermos: "Do céu", ele perguntará: "Então, por que vocês não creram nele?". 32 Mas, se dissermos: "Dos homens", seria motivo para temer o povo.

Isso porque todos realmente consideravam que João era um profeta.

33 Por isso, responderam a Jesus:

— Não sabemos.

Jesus, então, disse:

— Tampouco direi com que autoridade faço estas coisas.

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King

1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, 2 saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.3 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’ "

4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, 5 some people standing there asked, "What are you doing, untying that colt?" 6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. 7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,

"Hosanna!*11:9 A Hebrew expression meaning "Save!" which became an exclamation of praise; also in verse 10"

"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!"*11:9 Psalm 118:25,26

10 "Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!"

"Hosanna in the highest heaven!"

11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.

Jesus Curses a Fig Tree and Clears the Temple Courts

12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14 Then he said to the tree, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard him say it.

15 On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, 16 and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. 17 And as he taught them, he said, "Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’*11:17 Isaiah 56:7? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’*11:17 Jer. 7:11"

18 The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.

19 When evening came, Jesus and his disciples*11:19 Some early manuscripts came, Jesus went out of the city.

20 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. 21 Peter remembered and said to Jesus, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!"

22 "Have faith in God," Jesus answered. 23 "Truly*11:22,23 Some early manuscripts "If you have faith in God," Jesus answered, 23 "trulyI tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."26 *11:26 Some manuscripts include here words similar to Matt. 6:15.

The Authority of Jesus Questioned

27 They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him. 28 "By what authority are you doing these things?" they asked. "And who gave you authority to do this?"

29 Jesus replied, "I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.30 John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin? Tell me!"

31 They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’ 32 But if we say, ‘Of human origin’ …" (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.)

33 So they answered Jesus, "We don’t know."

Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things."
