*1 — Pois certamente vem o dia, ardente como uma fornalha. Todos os arrogantes e todos os malfeitores serão como palha, e aquele dia, que está chegando, ateará fogo neles — diz o Senhor dos Exércitos. — Não sobrará raiz ou galho algum para eles. 2 Mas, para vocês que temem o meu nome, o sol da justiça se levantará trazendo cura nas suas asas. E vocês sairão e saltarão como bezerros bem alimentados. 3 Depois, esmagarão os ímpios, que serão como pó sob as solas dos seus pés, no dia em que eu agir — diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.

4 — Lembrem-se da lei de Moisés, meu servo, dos estatutos e das ordenanças que lhe dei em Horebe para todo o povo de Israel.

5 — Vejam, eu enviarei a vocês o profeta Elias antes que venha o grande e temível dia do Senhor. 6 Ele fará que o coração dos pais se volte para os seus filhos, e o coração dos filhos, para os seus pais; do contrário, eu virei e castigarei a terra separando-a para destruição.*

"Not a root or a branch will be left to them. 2 But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves. 3 Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act," says the Lord Almighty.

4 "Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.

5 "See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction."
