1 Certo dia Pedro e João estavam subindo ao templo na hora da oração, às três horas da tarde.2 Estava sendo levado para a porta do templo chamada Formosa um aleijado de nascença, que ali era colocado todos os dias para pedir esmolas aos que entravam no templo.3 Vendo que Pedro e João iam entrar no pátio do templo, pediu-lhes esmola.4 Pedro e João olharam bem para ele e, então, Pedro disse: "Olhe para nós! "5 O homem olhou para eles com atenção, esperando receber deles alguma coisa.6 Disse Pedro: "Não tenho prata nem ouro, mas o que tenho, isto lhe dou. Em nome de Jesus Cristo, o Nazareno, ande".7 Segurando-o pela mão direita, ajudou-o a levantar-se, e imediatamente os pés e os tornozelos do homem ficaram firmes.8 E de um salto pôs-se de pé e começou a andar. Depois entrou com eles no pátio do templo, andando, saltando e louvando a Deus.9 Quando todo o povo o viu andando e louvando a Deus,10 reconheceu que era ele o mesmo homem que costumava mendigar sentado à porta do templo chamada Formosa. Todos ficaram perplexos e muito admirados com o que lhe tinha acontecido.11 Apegando-se o mendigo a Pedro e João, todo o povo ficou maravilhado e correu até eles, ao lugar chamado Pórtico de Salomão.12 Vendo isso, Pedro lhes disse: "Israelitas, por que isto os surpreende? Por que vocês estão olhando para nós, como se tivéssemos feito este homem andar por nosso próprio poder ou piedade?13 O Deus de Abraão, de Isaque e de Jacó, o Deus dos nossos antepassados, glorificou seu servo Jesus, a quem vocês entregaram para ser morto e negaram perante Pilatos, embora ele tivesse decidido soltá-lo.14 Vocês negaram publicamente o Santo e Justo e pediram que lhes fosse libertado um assassino.15 Vocês mataram o autor da vida, mas Deus o ressuscitou dos mortos. E nós somos testemunhas disso.16 Pela fé no nome de Jesus, o Nome curou este homem que vocês vêem e conhecem. A fé que vem por meio dele lhe deu esta saúde perfeita, como todos podem ver.17 "Agora, irmãos, eu sei que vocês agiram por ignorância, bem como os seus líderes.18 Mas foi assim que Deus cumpriu o que tinha predito por todos os profetas, dizendo que o seu Cristo haveria de sofrer.19 Arrependam-se, pois, e voltem-se para Deus, para que os seus pecados sejam cancelados,20 para que venham tempos de descanso da parte do Senhor, e ele mande o Cristo, o qual lhes foi designado, Jesus.21 É necessário que ele permaneça no céu até que chegue o tempo em que Deus restaurará todas as coisas, como falou há muito tempo, por meio dos seus santos profetas.22 Pois disse Moisés: ‘O Senhor Deus lhes levantará dentre seus irmãos um profeta como eu; ouçam-no em tudo o que ele lhes disser.23 Quem não ouvir esse profeta, será eliminado do meio do seu povo’.24 "De fato, todos os profetas, de Samuel em diante, um por um, falaram e predisseram estes dias.25 E vocês são herdeiros dos profetas e da aliança que Deus fez com os seus antepassados. Ele disse a Abraão: ‘Por meio da sua descendência todos os povos da terra serão abençoados’.26 Tendo Deus ressuscitado o seu Servo, enviou-o primeiramente a vocês, para abençoá-los, convertendo cada um de vocês das suas maldades".

1 One day Peter and John were going up to the Temple for the hour of prayer –the ninth hour– and, just then,2 some men were carrying there one who had been lame from birth, whom they were wont to place every day close to the Beautiful Gate (as it was called) of the Temple, for him to beg from the people as they went in.3 Seeing Peter and John about to go into the Temple, he asked them for alms.4 Peter fixing his eyes on him, as John did also, said, »Look at us.«5 So he looked and waited, expecting to receive something from them.6 »I have no silver or gold,« Peter said, »but what I have, I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ, the Nazarene– walk!«7 Then taking his hand Peter lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were strengthened.8 Leaping up, he stood upright and began to walk, and went into the Temple with them, walking, leaping, and praising God.9 All the people saw him walking and praising God;10 and recognizing him as the man who used to sit at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple asking for alms, they were filled with awe and amazement at what had happened to him.11 While he still clung to Peter and John, the people, awe-struck, ran up crowding round them in what was known as Solomon's Portico.12 Peter, seeing this, spoke to the people. »Israelites,« he said, »why do you wonder at this man? Or why gaze at us, as though by any power or piety of our own we had enabled him to walk?13 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our forefathers, has conferred this honour on His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to let Him go.14 Yes, you disowned the holy and righteous One, and asked as a favour the release of a murderer.15 The Prince of Life you put to death; but God has raised Him from the dead, and we are witnesses as to that.16 It is His name – faith in that name being the condition– which has strengthened this man whom you behold and know; and the faith which He has given has made this man sound and strong again, as you can all see.17 »And now, brethren, I know that it was in ignorance that you did it, as was the case with your rulers also.«18 But in this way God has fulfilled the declarations He made through all the Prophets, that His Christ would suffer.19 Repent, therefore, and reform your lives, so that the record of your sins may be cancelled, and that there may come seasons of revival from the Lord,20 and that He may send the Christ appointed beforehand for you–even Jesus.21 Heaven must receive Him until those times of which God has spoken from the earliest ages through the lips of His holy Prophets–the times of the reconstitution of all things.22 Moses declared, »`The Lord your God will raise up a Prophet for you from among your brethren as He has raised me. In all that He says to you, you must listen to Him.23 And every one, without exception, who refuses to listen to that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the People.'24 Yes, and all the Prophets, from Samuel onwards –all who have spoken– have also announced the coming of this present time.25 »You are the heirs of the Prophets, and of the Covenant which God made with your forefathers when He said to Abraham, `And through your posterity all the families of the world shall be blessed.'26 It is to you first that God, after raising His Servant from the grave, has sent Him to bless you, by causing every one of you to turn from your wickedness.«
