1 Portanto, irmãos, rogo-lhes pelas misericórdias de Deus que se ofereçam em sacrifício vivo, santo e agradável a Deus; este é o culto racional de vocês.2 Não se amoldem ao padrão deste mundo, mas transformem-se pela renovação da sua mente, para que sejam capazes de experimentar e comprovar a boa, agradável e perfeita vontade de Deus.3 Pois pela graça que me foi dada digo a todos vocês: ninguém tenha de si mesmo um conceito mais elevado do que deve ter; mas, pelo contrário, tenha um conceito equilibrado, de acordo com a medida da fé que Deus lhe concedeu.4 Assim como cada um de nós tem um corpo com muitos membros e esses membros não exercem todos a mesma função,5 assim também em Cristo nós, que somos muitos, formamos um corpo, e cada membro está ligado a todos os outros.6 Temos diferentes dons, de acordo com a graça que nos foi dada. Se alguém tem o dom de profetizar, use-o na proporção da sua fé.7 Se o seu dom é servir, sirva; se é ensinar, ensine;8 se é dar ânimo, que assim faça; se é contribuir, que contribua generosamente; se é exercer liderança, que a exerça com zelo; se é mostrar misericórdia, que o faça com alegria.9 O amor deve ser sincero. Odeiem o que é mau; apeguem-se ao que é bom.10 Dediquem-se uns aos outros com amor fraternal. Prefiram dar honra aos outros mais do que a si próprios.11 Nunca lhes falte o zelo, sejam fervorosos no espírito, sirvam ao Senhor.12 Alegrem-se na esperança, sejam pacientes na tribulação, perseverem na oração.13 Compartilhem o que vocês têm com os santos em suas necessidades. Pratiquem a hospitalidade.14 Abençoem aqueles que os perseguem; abençoem, e não os amaldiçoem.15 Alegrem-se com os que se alegram; chorem com os que choram.16 Tenham uma mesma atitude uns para com os outros. Não sejam orgulhosos, mas estejam dispostos a associar-se a pessoas de posição inferior. Não sejam sábios aos seus próprios olhos.17 Não retribuam a ninguém mal por mal. Procurem fazer o que é correto aos olhos de todos.18 Façam todo o possível para viver em paz com todos.19 Amados, nunca procurem vingar-se, mas deixem com Deus a ira, pois está escrito: "Minha é a vingança; eu retribuirei", diz o Senhor.20 Pelo contrário: "Se o seu inimigo tiver fome, dê-lhe de comer; se tiver sede, dê-lhe de beber. Fazendo isso, você amontoará brasas vivas sobre a cabeça dele".21 Não se deixem vencer pelo mal, mas vençam o mal com o bem.

1 I plead with you therefore, brethren, by the compassionsof God, to present all your faculties to Him as a living and holy sacrifice acceptable to Him. This with you will be an act of reasonable worship.2 And do not follow the customs of the present age, but be transformed by the entire renewal of your minds, so that you may learn by experience what God's will is–that will which is good and beautiful and perfect.3 For through the authority graciously given to me I warn every individual among you not to value himself unduly, but to cultivate sobriety of judgement in accordance with the amount of faith which God has allotted to each one.4 For just as there are in the one human body many parts, and these parts have not all the same function;5 so collectively we form one body in Christ, while individually we are linked to one another as its members.6 But since we have special gifts which differ in accordance with the diversified work graciously entrusted to us, if it is prophecy, let the prophet speak in exact proportion to his faith;7 if it is the gift of administration, let the administrator exercise a sound judgement in his duties.8 The teacher must do the same in his teaching; and he who exhorts others, in his exhortation. He who gives should be liberal; he who is in authority should be energetic and alert; and he who succours the afflicted should do it cheerfully.9 Let your love be perfectly sincere. Regard with horror what is evil; cling to what is right.10 As for brotherly love, be affectionate to one another; in matters of worldly honour, yield to one another.11 Do not be indolent when zeal is required. Be thoroughly warm-hearted, the Lord's own servants,12 full of joyful hope, patient under persecution, earnest and persistent in prayer.13 Relieve the necessities of God's people; always practise hospitality.14 Invoke blessings on your persecutors–blessings, not curses.15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.16 Have full sympathy with one another. Do not give your mind to high things, but let humble ways content you. Do not be wise in your own conceits.17 Pay back to no man evil for evil. Take thought for what is right and seemly in every one's esteem.18 If you can, so far as it depends on you, live at peace with all the world.19 Do not be revengeful, my dear friends, but give way before anger; for it is written, »`Revenge belongs to Me: I will pay back,' says the Lord.«20 On the contrary, therefore, if your enemy is hungry, give him food; if he is thirsty, quench his thirst. For by doing this you will be heaping burning coals upon his head.21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome the evil with goodness.
