1 "Não deixem que seu coração fique aflito. Creiam em Deus; creiam também em mim. 2 Na casa de meu Pai há muitas moradas. Se não fosse assim, eu lhes teria dito. Vou preparar lugar para vocês 3 e, quando tudo estiver pronto, virei buscá-los, para que estejam sempre comigo, onde eu estiver. 4 Vocês conhecem o caminho para onde vou."

5 "Não sabemos para onde o Senhor vai", disse Tomé. "Como podemos conhecer o caminho?"

6 Jesus disse: "Eu sou o caminho, a verdade e a vida. Ninguém pode vir ao Pai senão por mim. 7 Se vocês realmente me conhecessem, saberiam quem é meu Pai. Mas, de agora em diante, vão conhecer e ver o Pai".

8 Filipe disse: "Senhor, mostre-nos o Pai, e ficaremos satisfeitos".

9 Jesus respondeu: "Filipe, estive com vocês todo esse tempo e você ainda não sabe quem eu sou? Quem me vê, vê o Pai! Então por que me pede para mostrar o Pai? 10 Você não crê que eu estou no Pai e o Pai está em mim? As palavras que eu digo não são minhas, mas de meu Pai, que permanece em mim e realiza suas obras por meu intermédio. 11 Apenas creiam que eu estou no Pai e que o Pai está em mim. Ou creiam pelo menos por causa das obras que vocês me viram realizar.

12 "Eu lhes digo a verdade: quem crê em mim fará as mesmas obras que tenho realizado, e até maiores, pois eu vou para o Pai. 13 Vocês podem pedir qualquer coisa em meu nome, e eu o farei, para que o Filho glorifique o Pai. 14 Sim, peçam qualquer coisa em meu nome, e eu o farei!"

15 "Se vocês me amam, obedeçam a meus mandamentos. 16 E eu pedirei ao Pai, e ele lhes dará outro Encorajador, que nunca os deixará. 17 É o Espírito da verdade. O mundo não o pode receber, pois não o vê e não o conhece. Mas vocês o conhecem, pois ele habita com vocês agora e depois estará em vocês. 18 Não os deixarei órfãos; voltarei para vocês. 19 Em breve o mundo não me verá mais, mas vocês me verão. Porque eu vivo, vocês também viverão. 20 No dia em que eu for ressuscitado, vocês saberão que eu estou em meu Pai, vocês em mim, e eu em vocês. 21 Aqueles que aceitam meus mandamentos e lhes obedecem são os que me amam. E, porque me amam, serão amados por meu Pai. E eu também os amarei e me revelarei a cada um deles."

22 Judas (não o Iscariotes) disse: "Por que o Senhor vai se revelar somente a nós, e não ao mundo em geral?".

23 Jesus respondeu: "Quem me ama faz o que eu ordeno. Meu Pai o amará, e nós viremos para morar nele. 24 Quem não me ama não me obedece. E lembrem-se, estas palavras não são minhas; elas vêm do Pai, que me enviou. 25 Eu digo estas coisas enquanto ainda estou com vocês. 26 Mas quando o Pai enviar o Encorajador, o Espírito Santo, como meu representante, ele lhes ensinará todas as coisas e os fará lembrar tudo que eu lhes disse.

27 "Eu lhes deixo um presente, a minha plena paz. E essa paz que eu lhes dou é um presente que o mundo não pode dar. Portanto, não se aflijam nem tenham medo. 28 Lembrem-se do que eu lhes disse: ‘Vou embora, mas voltarei para vocês’. Se o seu amor por mim é real, vocês deveriam estar felizes porque eu vou para o Pai, que é maior que eu. 29 Eu lhes disse estas coisas antes que aconteçam para que, quando acontecerem, vocês creiam.

30 "Não tenho muito tempo mais para falar com vocês, pois o governante deste mundo se aproxima. Ele não tem poder algum sobre mim, 31 mas farei o que o Pai requer de mim, para que o mundo saiba que eu amo o Pai. Levantem-se e vamos embora!"

1 "Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. 3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also. 4 You know where I go, and you know the way."

5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?"

6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him and have seen him."

8 Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us."

9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, ‘Show us the Father?’ 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake. 12 Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father. 13 Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it. 15 If you love me, keep my commandments. 16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever: 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive, for it doesn’t see him and doesn’t know him. You know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world will see me no more; but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also. 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 One who has my commandments and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him."

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, what has happened that you are about to reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?"

23 Jesus answered him, "If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 He who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.

25 "I have said these things to you while still living with you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. 28 You heard how I told you, ‘I am going away, and I will come back to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced because I said ‘I am going to my Father;’ for the Father is greater than I. 29 Now I have told you before it happens so that when it happens, you may believe. 30 I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me. 31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father commanded me, even so I do.
