1 Escutem, pois a Sabedoria chama!

Ouçam, porque o entendimento levanta a voz!

2 No alto dos montes, junto ao caminho,

a Sabedoria se coloca nas encruzilhadas.

3 Ao lado das portas da cidade,

na entrada, ela anuncia:

4 "A vocês eu clamo, a todos vocês!

Levanto minha voz para todo o povo.

5 Vocês, inexperientes, mostrem discernimento!

Vocês, tolos, mostrem entendimento!

6 Ouçam, pois tenho coisas importantes a lhes dizer.

Tudo que digo é correto,

7 pois falo a verdade,

e toda espécie de engano é detestável para mim.

8 Meu conselho é justo;

não há nada nele que distorça a verdade ou dela se desvie.

9 Minhas palavras são claras para os que têm entendimento

e corretas para os que têm conhecimento.

10 Escolham minha instrução em vez da prata

e o conhecimento em vez do ouro puro.

11 Pois a sabedoria vale muito mais que rubis;

nada do que você deseja se compara a ela.

12 "Eu, a Sabedoria, moro com a prudência;

sei onde encontrar conhecimento e discernimento.

13 Quem teme o Senhor odeia o mal;

portanto, odeio o orgulho e a arrogância,

a corrupção e as palavras perversas.

14 O bom senso e o sucesso me pertencem,

o discernimento e o poder são meus.

15 Graças a mim, os reis governam

e as autoridades emitem decretos justos.

16 Com minha ajuda, as autoridades lideram

e os nobres julgam com justiça.

17 "Amo os que me amam;

os que me procuram por certo me encontrarão.

18 Tenho riquezas e honra,

bens duradouros e justiça.

19 Minha dádiva vale mais que ouro, mais que ouro puro;

meu rendimento é melhor que a fina prata.

20 Ando em retidão,

nos caminhos da justiça.

21 Os que me amam recebem riquezas como herança;

sim, encherei seus tesouros!

22 "O Senhor me estabeleceu desde o princípio,

antes de criar qualquer outra coisa.

23 Fui designada desde eras passadas,

logo no início, antes de a terra existir.

24 Nasci antes que os oceanos fossem criados,

antes que a água brotasse de suas fontes.

25 Nasci antes de serem formados os montes,

antes de existirem as colinas,

26 quando ele ainda não havia feito a terra e os campos,

nem o primeiro punhado de terra.

27 Eu estava lá quando ele estabeleceu o céu,

quando traçou o horizonte sobre os oceanos.

28 Estava lá quando ele pôs as nuvens no alto,

quando estabeleceu fontes nas profundezas da terra.

29 Estava lá quando ele determinou os limites do mar,

para que não avançasse além de suas divisas.

E, quando ele demarcou os alicerces da terra,

30 eu estava ao seu lado como arquiteta.

Eu era sua alegria constante,

sempre exultando em sua presença.

31 Como me alegrei com o mundo que ele criou!

Como exultei com a humanidade!

32 "Por isso, meus filhos, ouçam-me,

pois todos que seguem meus caminhos são felizes.

33 Ouçam minha instrução e sejam sábios;

não a desprezem.

34 Felizes os que me ouvem, que ficam à minha porta todos os dias,

esperando por mim na entrada de minha casa!

35 Pois quem me encontra, encontra vida

e recebe o favor do Senhor.

36 Quem não me encontra, prejudica a si mesmo;

todos que me odeiam amam a morte".

1 Doesn’t wisdom cry out?

Doesn’t understanding raise her voice?

2 On the top of high places by the way,

where the paths meet, she stands.

3 Beside the gates, at the entry of the city,

at the entry doors, she cries aloud:

4 "I call to you men!

I send my voice to the sons of mankind.

5 You simple, understand prudence!

You fools, be of an understanding heart!

6 Hear, for I will speak excellent things.

The opening of my lips is for right things.

7 For my mouth speaks truth.

Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness.

There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.

9 They are all plain to him who understands,

right to those who find knowledge.

10 Receive my instruction rather than silver,

knowledge rather than choice gold.

11 For wisdom is better than rubies.

All the things that may be desired can’t be compared to it.

12 "I, wisdom, have made prudence my dwelling.

Find out knowledge and discretion.

13 The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil.

I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.

14 Counsel and sound knowledge are mine.

I have understanding and power.

15 By me kings reign,

and princes decree justice.

16 By me princes rule,

nobles, and all the righteous rulers of the earth.

17 I love those who love me.

Those who seek me diligently will find me.

18 With me are riches, honor,

enduring wealth, and prosperity.

19 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold,

my yield than choice silver.

20 I walk in the way of righteousness,

in the middle of the paths of justice,

21 that I may give wealth to those who love me.

I fill their treasuries.

22 "Yahweh possessed me in the beginning of his work,

before his deeds of old.

23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning,

before the earth existed.

24 When there were no depths, I was born,

when there were no springs abounding with water.

25 Before the mountains were settled in place,

before the hills, I was born;

26 while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields,

nor the beginning of the dust of the world.

27 When he established the heavens, I was there.

When he set a circle on the surface of the deep,

28 when he established the clouds above,

when the springs of the deep became strong,

29 when he gave to the sea its boundary,

that the waters should not violate his commandment,

when he marked out the foundations of the earth,

30 then I was the craftsman by his side.

I was a delight day by day,

always rejoicing before him,

31 rejoicing in his whole world.

My delight was with the sons of men.

32 "Now therefore, my sons, listen to me,

for blessed are those who keep my ways.

33 Hear instruction, and be wise.

Don’t refuse it.

34 Blessed is the man who hears me,

watching daily at my gates,

waiting at my door posts.

35 For whoever finds me finds life,

and will obtain favor from Yahweh.

36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul.

All those who hate me love death."
