1 Por amor de Sião, por amor de Jerusalém, não me calarei! Não deixarei de fazer oração por ela, nem de clamar a Deus a favor dela, até que resplandeça na sua justiça e se torne gloriosa na sua salvação! 2 As nações verão a tua justiça. Os chefes das nações ficarão ofuscados pela tua glória. Serás chamado por um novo nome, o qual foi escolhido pelo Senhor. 3 Serás como uma esplêndida coroa, um diadema real, que o Senhor, o teu Deus, segura na sua mão. 4 Nunca mais serás chamada Abandonada, nem a tua terra será chamada Desolada. Antes o teu novo nome será a Terra Preferida de Deus, e também a Esposa, pois terás a preferência do Senhor e a tua terra será desposada. 5 Os teus filhos terão cuidado de ti, ó Jerusalém, com a mesma alegria com que um noivo se ocupa da sua jovem esposa. Deus se regozijará em ti como um noivo na mulher com quem acaba de casar.

6 Ó Jerusalém, coloquei intercessores sobre os teus muros, para que clamassem ao Senhor dia e noite pelo cumprimento das suas promessas. Não descansem, os que oram a Deus! 7 Não lhe deem descanso enquanto não tiver restabelecido Jerusalém, enquanto não a tiver tornado respeitada e admirada por toda a Terra.

8 O Senhor jurou a Jerusalém com toda a integridade: "Nunca mais te darei aos teus inimigos! Nunca mais soldados estrangeiros virão pilhar o azeite e o vinho novo, que tanto te custou a cultivar! 9 Tudo aquilo que colheres guardarás e darás graças a Deus. Dentro dos átrios do templo só tu beberás o vinho que pisaste nos teus lagares."

10 Saiam! Saiam! Preparem a estrada pela qual regressará o povo! Construam-na onde for preciso, limpem-na de pedregulhos, ergam a bandeira de Israel!

11 Vejam! O Senhor enviou os seus mensageiros a cada terra com este recado: "Digam a Sião que eu, o teu Salvador, estou a chegar, trazendo a recompensa que cada um merece de acordo com as suas obras." 12 Serão chamados o Povo Santo e os Redimidos do Senhor. Jerusalém será apelidada Terra Desejada e Cidade não Abandonada.

5 For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.*62.5 as the…: Heb. with the joy of the bridegroom

6 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,*62.6 make…: or, are the LORD’s remembrancers 7 And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.*62.7 rest: Heb. silence 8 The LORD hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:*62.8 Surely…: Heb. If I give, etc 9 But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the LORD; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.

10 Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people. 11 Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.*62.11 work: or, recompence 12 And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.
