Salmo de David. Para o diretor do coro.

1 Ouve-me, ó Deus, nesta minha oração;

livra-me dos horrores dos meus inimigos.

2 Guarda a minha vida

das intenções malignas dessa gente ruim

e das maquinações desses malfeitores.

3 Transformam as suas línguas em armas de guerra;

apontam e atiram contra mim palavras venenosas.

4 Disparam, repentinamente e às escondidas,

contra o inocente, contra o justo,

e não têm medo das consequências.

5 Combinam bem os seus planos de maldade;

encontram-se para preparar armadilhas e dizem:

"Aqui, ninguém nos apanha!"

6 Investigam e inquirem tudo o que podem fazer,

para melhor atingirem os seus fins perversos

e ferir os outros no mais íntimo do seu ser.

7 Mas Deus mesmo disparará sobre eles

e num só momento serão abatidos.

8 Tudo o que disserem de mal contra os outros

servirá para sua própria condenação.

Os que virem isso acontecer

irão embora abanando a cabeça.

9 Toda a gente temerá a Deus

e confessará a grandeza das suas obras.

Todos compreenderão as coisas admiráveis que ele faz.

10 Os que seguem a justiça do Senhor

terão alegria e se refugiarão nele;

alegrem-se todos os que têm um coração íntegro.

1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

2 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

3 Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

4 That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?*64.5 matter: or, speech*64.5 of…: Heb. to hide his snares

9 And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.

10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
