1 Ó Deus de Sião, esperamos diante de ti,

enquanto te louvamos,

e cumprimos as nossas solenes promessas.

2 Visto que respondes às orações,

toda a humanidade virá a ti com os seus pedidos.

3 Embora os meus pecados pesem em meu desfavor,

tu perdoas todas as transgressões.

4 Como são felizes aqueles a quem escolheste

para morar contigo no interior do teu santuário!

Que alegrias nos esperam ali,

rodeados da tua bondade, no teu santo templo!

5 Com feitos espantosos da tua justiça

nos trarás a salvação que te pedimos, ó Deus.

Tu és a esperança da humanidade inteira,

de um extremo ao outro da Terra,

até aos confins dos mares.

6 Tu formaste as montanhas,

por meio da tua poderosa força.

7 Acalmas os oceanos em fúria

e a violência das suas vagas;

dominas a agitação dos povos.

8 Até os que habitam em sítios mais afastados

ficarão pasmados com os teus atos gloriosos.

Tanto o nascer como o pôr-do-sol

serão momentos de alegria para todos.

9 Tu regas a terra para a tornar fértil;

os rios de Deus nunca secam.

Preparas a terra do teu povo

enviando-lhe ricas colheitas de cereais.

10 Regas e nivelas os sulcos com chuvas abundantes;

os aguaceiros amolecem os terrenos,

fazendo a semente brotar.

11 Tudo coroas com abundantes colheitas;

por onde quer que vás há abundância.

12 Até no deserto há ricas pastagens verdes;

as encostas das montanhas florescem de alegria.

13 Os campos cobrem-se de imensos rebanhos

e os vales enchem-se de cereais.

Por tudo isto, cantam de alegria!

4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

5 By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:

6 Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:

7 Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.

8 They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.*65.8 rejoice: or, sing

9 Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.*65.9 and…: or, after thou hadst made it to desire rain
