1 Eu te louvarei, Senhor,

porque me levantaste

e não deixaste que os meus inimigos triunfassem sobre mim.

2 Senhor, meu Deus, eu chamei por ti

e tu deste de novo saúde à minha vida.

3 Tiraste-me da beira do mundo dos mortos;

não deixaste que descesse ao abismo da morte.

4 Cantem ao Senhor, todos os seus santos,

para que seja sempre lembrada a sua santidade.

5 A sua cólera dura só um momento,

mas sua boa vontade dura a vida inteira.

Posso chorar uma noite inteira,

mas sei que pela manhã virá a alegria.

6 Quando me encontrava bem e me sentia firme dizia:

"Isto está seguro; nada me perturbará."

7 Tu, Senhor, fizeste-me o favor

de me tornar forte como uma montanha.

Mas viraste o rosto e eu fiquei sem coragem.

8 Chamei por ti, Senhor,

e supliquei-te dizendo:

9 "Que ganharás, se eu descer à cova?

Como poderei louvar-te se estiver desfeito em pó?

Poderei anunciar a tua verdade aos outros?

10 Ouve-me então, Senhor,

tem piedade de mim e socorre-me!"

11 Então ele mudou o meu choro em dança alegre.

Arrancou-me a roupa da tristeza e fez-me vestir de alegria.

12 Agora posso cantar-lhe louvores,

em vez de jazer em silêncio.

Senhor, meu Deus, eu te cantarei para sempre!

1 I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

3 O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.

11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
