1 Meu Deus, meu Deus, porque me abandonaste?

Porque não escutas o meu gemido

e estás longe, sem me salvares?

2 Chamo de dia e não me ouves, meu Deus;

de noite é a mesma coisa:

não tenho resposta e não consigo sossegar.

3 Porém, tu és santo;

os louvores de Israel

envolveram o teu trono.

4 Confiaram em ti

e tu os livraste.

5 Gritaram por socorro e escaparam;

buscaram a tua ajuda e não ficaram dececionados.

6 Mas eu sou verme e não homem;

escarnecido pelos homens e desprezado pelo povo.

7 Todos os que me veem fazem troça de mim,

encolhem os ombros, abanam a cabeça e dizem:

8 "Confiou nele?

Então ele que o livre,

já que diz que ele tem prazer nele."

9 Mas foste tu quem me tirou do ventre de minha mãe

e me protegeu desde os primeiros dias no seu seio.

10 Desde o meu nascimento que estou à tua guarda;

tens sido sempre o meu Deus.

11 Não me deixes agora,

porque a aflição está próxima

e não há mais ninguém que possa ajudar-me.

12 Estou cercado de gente má,

violenta como touros bravos de Basã.

13 Abriram contra mim as suas bocas,

como leões rugindo, quando atacam a presa.

14 A minha vida se desfez como água;

todos os meus ossos se desconjuntaram.

O meu coração, dentro de mim,

derreteu-se como cera.

15 Secou-se-me a força como barro ao Sol;

a língua pega-se-me à boca,

porque me lançaste no pó da morte.

16 Rodeou-me um bando de malfeitores,

como se fossem cães;

atravessaram-me as mãos e os pés.

17 Poderia até contar todos os ossos do meu corpo;

eles olham para mim, observam-me malignamente.

18 Repartem a minha roupa entre si

e tiram à sorte a minha túnica.

19 Mas tu, Senhor, não te afastes de mim;

és a minha força, vem socorrer-me depressa.

20 Livra a minha alma das armas de morte;

poupa a minha preciosa vida da maldade desses cães.

21 Salva-me da boca do leão;

sim, ouve-me quando estiver preso nos chifres de touros selvagens.

22 Então declararei o teu nome perante os meus irmãos;

falarei de ti perante a assembleia do povo.

23 Louvem o Senhor, todos os que o temem;

honrem-no, todos os que são da descendência de Jacob;

tenham-lhe reverência, todos os que descendem de Israel.

24 Porque não ficou indiferente

nem se esqueceu da dor daquele que estava aflito;

não virou a cara quando eu sofria;

quando o chamei, ouviu-me.

25 Eu te louvarei na grande assembleia do povo;

cumprirei publicamente os meus votos

na presença de todos os que te temem.

26 Os pobres, que vivem aflitos, comerão e ficarão fartos.

Todos os que buscam o Senhor o louvarão;

o vosso coração viverá para sempre.

27 A Terra inteira se lembrará dele

e se voltará para o Senhor.

Todos os povos das nações o adorarão,

28 pois o Senhor é Rei

e domina sobre as nações.

29 Os grandes da Terra o adorarão;

os que na vida só esperam pela morte

também se inclinarão perante ti para te adorar.

30 Nossos filhos também o servirão,

porque lhes falaremos do Senhor.

31 Gerações que ainda não nasceram

ouvirão falar sobre a justiça de Deus;

falarão de tudo o que ele fez.

4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

19 But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.

21 Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.

22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

23 Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.

24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.

25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.

26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.

27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

28 For the kingdom is the LORD’s: and he is the governor among the nations.

29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.
