1 Como é bom estar no teu templo,

ó Senhor dos exércitos!

2 Eu anseio, tenho um desejo profundo

de entrar nos átrios da tua habitação.

Todo o meu ser reclama a presença do Deus vivo!

3 Até os pardais e as andorinhas têm a felicidade

de poder abrigar-se e fazer o ninho,

para si e para os filhotes, perto do teu altar,

Senhor dos exércitos, meu Rei e meu Deus!

4 Felizes os que têm o privilégio de habitar na tua casa

cantando a ti louvores! (Pausa)

5 Felizes aqueles cuja força vem de ti

e desejam, de coração, peregrinar nos teus caminhos!

6 Quando atravessarem o vale de Baca*84.6 Não se conhece a localização certa deste vale, nem o nome certo do mesmo. Aparece em hebraico com este nome, mas tem sido traduzido de diferentes formas, como vale árido. Havia neste vale umas plantas de bálsamo que pareciam chorar.,

farão dele um lugar de fontes,

um lugar cheio das chuvas das tuas bênçãos!

7 E assim, com as forças constantemente renovadas,

irão apresentar-se perante Deus, em Sião.

8 Ó Senhor, Deus dos exércitos, escuta a minha oração!

Inclina os teus ouvidos, ó Deus de Jacob! (Pausa)

9 Ó Deus, nosso defensor,

tem compaixão daquele que escolheste,

daquele que elegeste como rei!

10 Porque vale mais um dia passado nos teus átrios,

do que uma vida inteira noutro sítio qualquer.

Preferia ficar à porta da morada do meu Deus

a viver em palácios, onde haja maldade.

11 Porque o Senhor Deus é como um Sol e um escudo;

dá-nos a sua bondade e deseja honrar-nos.

Não negará bem algum aos que andam na retidão.

12 Senhor dos exércitos,

felizes são os que confiam em ti!

4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.

5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.
