1 Os porteiros do templo pertenciam à divisão de Asafe, do clã de Coré. O chefe deles era Meselemias, filho de Coré.

2 Os seus auxiliares eram os seus filhos: Zacarias, o mais velho; Jediael, o segundo; Zebadias, o terceiro; Jatniel, o quarto; Elão, o quinto; Joanã, o sexto; Elioenai, o sétimo.

4 Os filhos de Obede-Edom também foram designados para porteiros do templo: Semaías, o mais velho; Jeozabade, o segundo; Joá, o terceiro; Sacar, o quarto; Netanel, o quinto; Amiel, o sexto; Issacar, o sétimo; Peuletai, o oitavo. Que bênção Deus lhe deu com todos estes filhos!

6 Os filhos de Semaías eram todos homens notáveis e tinham posições de grande autoridade no seu clã. Eram seus nomes: Otni, Refael, Obede e Elzabade. Os seus irmãos, Eliú e Semaquias, foram também homens muito capazes.

12 As divisões dos porteiros do templo indicavam-se segundo os nomes dos chefes. À semelhança dos outros levitas, o serviço que faziam era no templo. Tinham a função da guarda das várias entradas; e eram escolhidos por sorteio, sem se olhar nem a quem, nem a que família pertenciam.

14 A responsabilidade da guarda da porta oriental coube a Selemias e ao seu grupo; a da entrada do norte ao seu filho Zacarias, um homem de bom discernimento; da entrada do sul a Obede-Edom e ao seu grupo (aos seus filhos foi entregue o cuidado dos armazéns); a porta ocidental e a porta Salequete, que dava para o caminho que subia, ficou à responsabilidade de Supim e a Hosa.

17 Seis porteiros eram escalados diariamente para a porta oriental, quatro para a do norte, quatro para a do sul e dois para cada armazém. Seis porteiros eram escalados diariamente para a porta do oeste, quatro para o lado do caminho que subia, e dois para as áreas próximas. Os guardas do templo eram escolhidos dos clãs de Coré e de Merari.

20 A outros levitas, chefiados por Aías, foi dado o cargo de velarem pelos dons trazidos ao Senhor e que eram colocados no tesouro do templo. Estes homens, de Ladã, um sub-clã de Gerson, eram entre outros Zetão e Joel, filhos de Jeieli. Sebuel (filho de Gerson e neto de Moisés) era o guarda-mor do tesouro. Tinha responsabilidade sobre as divisões do nome de Amrão, Izar, Hebron e Uziel.

25 A linha de descendentes de Eliezer passava por Reabias, Jesaías, Jorão, Zicri e Selomote. Selomote e os seus irmãos cuidavam dos dons trazidos ao Senhor pelo rei David e os outros líderes da nação, tais como governantes e oficiais do exército. Estes homens consagraram os despojos das guerras ao suporte dos encargos com o templo.

28 Selomote e os seus irmãos eram também responsáveis pela manutenção de tudo quanto fora dedicado ao Senhor pelo profeta Samuel, por Saul (filho de Cis), por Abner (filho de Ner), por Joabe (filho de Zeruía).

29 Quenanias e os seus filhos - do sub-clã de Izar - foram designados como administradores públicos e como juízes. Hasabias e 1.700 da gente do seu clã de Hebrom, todos pessoas destacadas, foram postos como supervisores do território de Israel a oeste do rio Jordão; eram pois responsáveis pelos assuntos religiosos e de administração pública nessa área. Dois mil e setecentos homens competentes, do clã dos hebronitas, sob o controlo de Jerias, ficaram com o cargo dos assuntos religiosos e de administração pública nas tribos de Rúben, Gad e da meia-tribo de Manassés. Estes homens, todos bem qualificados, foram nomeados na base dos seus antepassados e da sua habilidade, em Jazer de Gileade, no quadragésimo ano do reinado de David.

1 To the courses of the door-keepers, pertained,of the Korahites, Meshelemiah son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph;

2 and, Meshelemiah, had sons,Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth;

3 Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.

4 And, Obed-edom, had sons,Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Josh the third, and Sacar the fourth, and Nethanel the fifth;

5 Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peullethai, the eighth,for God had blessed him.

6 And, to Shemaiah his son, were born sons, who bare rule to their ancestral house,for, heroes of valour, were they.

7 the sons of Shemaiah, were Othni and Rephael, and Obed, Elzabad, whose brethren were sons of valour,Elihu, and Semachiah.

8 All these, were of the sons of Obed-edom, they and their sons and their brethren, able men in strength for the service,sixty-two, pertaining to Obed-edom.

9 And, Meshelemiah, had sons, and brethren, sons of valour, eighteen.

10 And, Hosah of the sons of Merari, had sons,Shimri the chief, for though he was not the firstborn, yet his father, made him, chief.

11 Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth,all the sons and brethren of Hosah, were thirteen.

12 To these, belonged the courses of door-keepers, to the chiefs of the strong men, belonged charges, equally with their brethren,to be in attendance in the house of Yahweh.

13 Yea they east lots, as the small so the great, by their ancestral house, for every several gate.

14 And the lot eastward fell to Shelemiah. And, for Zechariah his son, a discreet counselor, they cast lots, and his lot came out, northward.

15 To Obed-edom, southward,and, to his sons, the storehouse.

16 To Shuppim and to Hosah, westward, near the refuse-gate, in the causeway that goeth up,one ward as well as another.

17 Eastwarddaily, were six,northwarddaily, four, southwarddaily, four, and, for the stores, two and two.

18 For the precinctwestward, four, at the causeway, twoby the precinct.

19 These, were the courses of the door-keepers, of the sons of the Korahites, and of the sons of Merari.

20 And, the Levites, their brethren, were over the treasuries of the house of God, even to the treasuries of hallowed things.

21 The sons of Ladanthe sons of the Gershonites belonging to Ladanthe ancestral chiefs belonging to Ladan the Gershonite, were Jehieli;

22 the sons of Jehieli, Zetham and Joel his brother who were over the treasuries of the house of Yahweh.

23 Then came certain of the Amramites, of the Izharites, of the Hebronites, of the Uzzielites.

24 And, Shebuel, son of Gershom, son of Moses, was chief ruler over the treasuries.

25 And, his brethren pertaining to Eliezer, were Rehabiah his son, and Jeshaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zichri his son, and Shelomoth his son.

26 The same Shelomoth and his brethren, were over all the treasuries of the hallowed things, which David the king and the ancestral chiefs, with the captains of thousands and hundreds and the captains of the army, had hallowed:

27 out of the battles and out of the spoil, had they hallowed for the house of Yahweh.

28 And, all that Samuel the seer, and Saul son of Kish, and Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah, had hallowed, whosoever had hallowed anything, it was under the direction of Shelomoth, and his brethren.

29 Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons, were for the outward business over Israel,as officers, and as judges.

30 Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, sons of valour, one thousand seven hundred, had the oversight of Israel, across the Jordan westward,for all the business of Yahweh, and for the service of the king.

31 Of the Hebronites, Jerijah, was chief, of the Hebronites by his generations, by his fathers,in the fortieth year of the reign of David, were they sought out, and there were found among them heroes of valour, in Jazer of Gilead;

32 and, his brethren that were heroes of valour, were two thousand and seven hundred, ancestral chiefs,so David the king gave them oversight, over the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manassites, in all the affairs of God, and the affairs of the king.
