6 Devem ser escolhidos homens irrepreensíveis, casados com uma só mulher, que os seus filhos sejam crentes e não tenham fama de dissolutos, nem de desobedientes.

7 Convém, com efeito, que o pastor seja sem mancha, visto que é um responsável da casa de Deus. Não deve ser altivo, nem irritar-se facilmente; não deve ser dado a bebidas alcoólicas, nem meter-se em disputas violentas ou entregar-se à ganância e a especulações desonestas.

8 Deve antes ser dado à hospitalidade, zeloso por tudo o que é bom. Deve ser equilibrado e justo, sabendo dominar os seus sentidos, e ter uma vida submetida à vontade de Deus.

9 Que se mantenha firmemente apegado à palavra de Deus, tal como foi ensinado, para que se torne capaz de encorajar os outros pelo ensino da recta doutrina, e ao mesmo tempo convencer os que se opõem.

6 If anyone is unaccusable, a husband of, one wife, having children that believe, who are not charged with riotous excess, nor insubordinate;

7 For it is needful that the overseer beunaccusable, as Gods steward, not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, not ready to wound, not seeking gain by base means,

8 But hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, kind, possessing self-control,

9 Holding fast, in the matter of his teaching, the faithful word, that he may be able both to encourage with his healthful instruction, and, the gainsayers, to refute.
