1 Let, as many as are servants under a yoke, be counting, their own masters, worthy, of all honour, lest, the name of God and the teaching, be defamed.2 They, however, that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are, brethren but, the more, be doing them service, because, believing and beloved, are they who, from the good workmanship, receive advantage. These things, be teaching, and exhorting:3 If anyone doth otherwise teach, and doth not adhere to healthful discoursesthose of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the teaching that is, according to godliness,4 He is beclouded, knowing, nothing, rightly, but is diseased about questionings, and word-battlesout of which spring envy, strife, defamations, wicked surmising,5 incessant quarrellings of men wholly corrupt in their mind and bereft of the truth,supposing godliness to be, a means of gain!6 Now it is a great means of gaingodliness, with a sufficiency of ones own;7 For, nothing, brought we into the world, neither, to take anything out, are we able;8 And, having sustenance and covering, we shall be content;9 But, they who are determined to be rich, fall into temptation, and a snare, and many foolish and hurtful covetings, the which, sink men into ruin and destruction,10 For, a root of all the vices, is the love of money, which, some, being eager for, have been seduced from the faith, and have pierced, themselves, about with many pangs.11 But, thou, O man of God! from these things, flee! and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, meekness;12 Be contesting the noble contest of the faith,lay hold of the age-abiding lifeunto which thou wast called, and didst make the noble confession before many witnesses.13 I charge thee, before God, who engendereth life in all things, and Christ Jesus, who, before Pontius Pilate, witnessed the noble confession,14 That thou keep the commandment without spot, free from reproach, until the forthshining of our Lord Jesus Christ15 Which, in its own fit times, the happy and only Potentate will shewthe King of them that reign, and Lord of them that wield lordship,16 Who alone hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable,Whom no man hath seennor can see: unto whom, be honour and might age-abiding. Amen.17 Upon them who are rich in the present age, lay thou chargenot to be high-minded, nor to have set their hope on, riches, uncertainty,but on God, who offereth us all things richly for enjoying,18 To be doing good, to be rich in noble works, to be, generous in giving, ready for fellowship,19 Treasuring up for themselves a good foundation for the future, that they may lay hold on the life indeed.20 O Timothy! that which hath been entrusted, do thou guard, avoiding the profane pratings and oppositions of falsely named knowledge,21 Which, some professing, concerning the faith, have missed the mark! Favour be with you.

1 Todos os servos que estão debaixo do jugo estimem a seus senhores por dignos de toda a honra, para que o nome de Deus e a doutrina não sejam blasfemados. 2 E os que têm senhores crentes não os desprezem, por serem irmãos; antes, os sirvam melhor, porque eles, que participam do benefício, são crentes e amados. Isto ensina e exorta.

3 Se alguém ensina alguma outra doutrina e se não conforma com as sãs palavras de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e com a doutrina que é segundo a piedade, 4 é soberbo e nada sabe, mas delira acerca de questões e contendas de palavras, das quais nascem invejas, porfias, blasfêmias, ruins suspeitas, 5 contendas de homens corruptos de entendimento e privados da verdade, cuidando que a piedade seja causa de ganho. Aparta-te dos tais. 6 Mas é grande ganho a piedade com contentamento. 7 Porque nada trouxemos para este mundo e manifesto é que nada podemos levar dele. 8 Tendo, porém, sustento e com que nos cobrirmos, estejamos com isso contentes. 9 Mas os que querem ser ricos caem em tentação, e em laço, e em muitas concupiscências loucas e nocivas, que submergem os homens na perdição e ruína. 10 Porque o amor do dinheiro é a raiz de toda espécie de males; e nessa cobiça alguns se desviaram da fé e se traspassaram a si mesmos com muitas dores.

11 Mas tu, ó homem de Deus, foge destas coisas e segue a justiça, a piedade, a fé, o amor, a paciência, a mansidão. 12 Milita a boa milícia da fé, toma posse da vida eterna, para a qual também foste chamado, tendo já feito boa confissão diante de muitas testemunhas. 13 Mando-te diante de Deus, que todas as coisas vivifica, e de Cristo Jesus, que diante de Pôncio Pilatos deu o testemunho de boa confissão, 14 que guardes este mandamento sem mácula e repreensão, até à aparição de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo; 15 a qual, a seu tempo, mostrará o bem-aventurado e único poderoso Senhor, Rei dos reis e Senhor dos senhores; 16 aquele que tem, ele só, a imortalidade e habita na luz inacessível; a quem nenhum dos homens viu nem pode ver; ao qual seja honra e poder sempiterno. Amém!

17 Manda aos ricos deste mundo que não sejam altivos, nem ponham a esperança na incerteza das riquezas, mas em Deus, que abundantemente nos dá todas as coisas para delas gozarmos; 18 que façam o bem, enriqueçam em boas obras, repartam de boa mente e sejam comunicáveis; 19 que entesourem para si mesmos um bom fundamento para o futuro, para que possam alcançar a vida eterna.

20 Ó Timóteo, guarda o depósito que te foi confiado, tendo horror aos clamores vãos e profanos e às oposições da falsamente chamada ciência; 21 a qual professando-a alguns, se desviaram da fé. A graça seja contigo. Amém!
