1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy my brother,2 Unto the holy and faithful brethren in Christ that are, in Colosse, favour unto you, and peace, from our God and Father.3 We are giving thanks unto God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ , always, for you, offering prayer,4 Having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love which ye have unto all the saints,5 Because of the hope that is lying by for you in the heavens, of which ye heard before, in the word of the truth of the glad-message,6 When it presented itself unto you; even as, in all the world also, it is bearing fruit and growing, even as also among you, from the day when ye heard, and came personally to know the favour of God in truth,7 Even as ye learned from Epaphras, our beloved fellow-servant, who is faithful in our behalf, as a minister of the Christ,8 Who also hath made evident unto us your love in spirit.9 For this cause, we also, from the day when we heard , cease not, in your behalf, praying and askingthat ye may be filled unto the personal knowledge of his will, in all spiritual wisdom and discernment,10 So as to walk worthily of the Lord, unto all pleasing, in every good work, bearing fruit, and growing in the personal knowledge of God,11 With all power, being empowered, according to the grasp of his glory, unto all endurance and long-suffering with joy,12 Giving thanks unto the Father that hath made you sufficient for your share in the inheritance of the saints in the light,13 Who hath rescued us out of the authority of the darkness, and translated into the kingdom of the Son of his love;14 In whom, we have our redemptionthe remission of our sins,15 Who, is an image of the unseen God, Firstborn of all creation,16 Because, in him, were created all things in the heavens and upon the earth, the things seen and the things unseen, whether thrones or lordships or principalities or authorities,they all, through him and for him, have been created,17 And, he, is before all, and, they all, in him, hold together;18 And, he, is the head of the body, the assembly, Who is the beginning, Firstborn from among the dead, in order that, he, might become, in all things, himself, pre-eminent;19 Because, in him, was all the fullness well pleased to dwell,20 And, through him, fully to reconcile all things unto him, making peace through the blood of his cross, through him whether the things upon the earth or the things in the heavens;21 And, you, who at one time were estranged and enemies in your mind in your wicked works, yet, now, hath he fully reconciled,22 In his body of flesh, through means of his death, to present you holy and blameless and unaccusable before him,23 If, at least, ye are abiding still in the faith, founded and firm, and not to be moved away from the hope of the glad-message which ye have heard, which hath been proclaimed in all creation which is under heaven,of which, I Paul, have become minister.24 Now, am I rejoicing in the sufferings on your behalf, and am filling up the things that lack of the tribulations of the Christ, in my flesh, in behalf of his body, which is the assembly,25 Of which, I, have become ministeraccording to the administration of God which hath been given unto me to you-ward, to fill up the word of God,26 The sacred secret which had been hidden away from the ages and from the generations, but, now, hath been made manifest unto his saints27 Unto whom God hath been pleased to make known what is the glorious wealth of this sacred secret among the nations, which is Christ in you, the hope of the glory,28 Whom we are declaring, admonishing every man, and teaching every man, in all wisdom, in order that we may present every man complete in Christ;29 Unto which I am even toiling, contending according to his energy which is energising itself in me with power.

3 Graças damos a Deus, Pai de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, orando sempre por vós, 4 porquanto ouvimos da vossa fé em Cristo Jesus e do amor que tendes para com todos os santos; 5 por causa da esperança que vos está reservada nos céus, da qual já, antes, ouvistes pela palavra da verdade do evangelho, 6 que já chegou a vós, como também está em todo o mundo; e já vai frutificando, como também entre vós, desde o dia em que ouvistes e conhecestes a graça de Deus em verdade; 7 como aprendestes de Epafras, nosso amado conservo, que para vós é um fiel ministro de Cristo, 8 o qual nos declarou também o vosso amor no Espírito.

9 Por esta razão, nós também, desde o dia em que o ouvimos, não cessamos de orar por vós e de pedir que sejais cheios do conhecimento da sua vontade, em toda a sabedoria e inteligência espiritual; 10 para que possais andar dignamente diante do Senhor, agradando-lhe em tudo, frutificando em toda boa obra e crescendo no conhecimento de Deus; 11 corroborados em toda a fortaleza, segundo a força da sua glória, em toda a paciência e longanimidade, com gozo, 12 dando graças ao Pai, que nos fez idôneos para participar da herança dos santos na luz.

13 Ele nos tirou da potestade das trevas e nos transportou para o Reino do Filho do seu amor, 14 em quem temos a redenção pelo seu sangue, a saber, a remissão dos pecados; 15 o qual é imagem do Deus invisível, o primogênito de toda a criação; 16 porque nele foram criadas todas as coisas que há nos céus e na terra, visíveis e invisíveis, sejam tronos, sejam dominações, sejam principados, sejam potestades; tudo foi criado por ele e para ele. 17 E ele é antes de todas as coisas, e todas as coisas subsistem por ele. 18 E ele é a cabeça do corpo da igreja; é o princípio e o primogênito dentre os mortos, para que em tudo tenha a preeminência, 19 porque foi do agrado do Pai que toda a plenitude nele habitasse 20 e que, havendo por ele feito a paz pelo sangue da sua cruz, por meio dele reconciliasse consigo mesmo todas as coisas, tanto as que estão na terra como as que estão nos céus. 21 A vós também, que noutro tempo éreis estranhos e inimigos no entendimento pelas vossas obras más, agora, contudo, vos reconciliou 22 no corpo da sua carne, pela morte, para, perante ele, vos apresentar santos, e irrepreensíveis, e inculpáveis, 23 se, na verdade, permanecerdes fundados e firmes na fé e não vos moverdes da esperança do evangelho que tendes ouvido, o qual foi pregado a toda criatura que há debaixo do céu, e do qual eu, Paulo, estou feito ministro.

24 Regozijo-me, agora, no que padeço por vós e na minha carne cumpro o resto das aflições de Cristo, pelo seu corpo, que é a igreja; 25 da qual eu estou feito ministro segundo a dispensação de Deus, que me foi concedida para convosco, para cumprir a palavra de Deus: 26 o mistério que esteve oculto desde todos os séculos e em todas as gerações e que, agora, foi manifesto aos seus santos; 27 aos quais Deus quis fazer conhecer quais são as riquezas da glória deste mistério entre os gentios, que é Cristo em vós, esperança da glória; 28 a quem anunciamos, admoestando a todo homem e ensinando a todo homem em toda a sabedoria; para que apresentemos todo homem perfeito em Jesus Cristo; 29 e para isto também trabalho, combatendo segundo a sua eficácia, que opera em mim poderosamente.
