1 When Yahweh thy God, shall cut off the nations whose land Yahweh thy God is giving thee,and thou shalt dispossess them, and dwell in their cities and in their houses,2 three cities, shalt thou set apart for thee,in the midst of thy land which Yahweh thy God is giving thee to possess.3 Thou shalt prepare for thee a way, and shalt divide into three parts the boundary of thy land which Yahweh thy God shall cause thee to inherit,and it shall be that every manslayer shall flee thither.4 And, this, is the case of the manslayer, who shall flee thither and live,Whoso shall smite his neighbour unwittingly, he, not having hated him aforetime;5 as when one entereth with his neighbour into a forest, to fell trees, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe, to cut down the tree, and the head flieth off from the handle, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die, he, shall flee into one of these cities, and live;6 lest the blood redeemer pursue the manslayer because his heart is hot, and overtake him because the way is long, and he smite him so as to take away his life,he not being worthy of death, seeing that he had not been hating him aforetime.7 For this cause, am I commanding thee saying,Three cities, shalt thou set apart for thee.8 But, if Yahweh thy God should enlarge thy heralds, as he aware unto thy fathers,and should give thee all the land, which he spake of giving unto thy fathers;9 because thou dost observe all this commandment to do it which I am commanding thee to-day, to love Yahweh thy God and to walk in his paths all the days, then shalt thou add unto thee yet three cities, unto these three;10 that innocent blood may not be sired in the midst of thy land, which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee as an inheritance,and so shed-blood be upon thee.11 But, when any man shall be hating his neighbour, and shall lie in wait for him and rise up against him, and smite him so as to take away his life that he dieth,and shall then flee into one of these cities,12 then shall the elders of his city send and fetch him from thence,and deliver him into the hand of the blood redeemer that he die;13 thine eye shall not look with pity upon him,so shall thou consume the shedding of innocent blood out of Israel and it shah go well with thee.14 Thou shall not move back the boundary of thy neighbour, by which they set bounds at first,in thine inheritance which thou shall receive in the land which Yahweh thy God is giving thee to possess.15 One witness I shall not rise up, against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, with regard to any sin that he may commit,at the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses, must a matter be establish.16 When there shall rise up a wrongful witness against a man,to answer against him perversely,17 then shall the two men who are at variance stand before Yahweh,before the priests and the judges who shall be in those days;18 and the judges shall make diligent inquisition,and lo! if the witness be, a false witness and, falsely, have answered against his brother,19 then shall ye do unto him as he had thought to de unto his brother,so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of thy midst;20 and, they who remain shall hear and fear,and not go on to do again according to this wicked thing, in thy midst:21 neither shall thine eye pity,life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

1 Quando o Senhor, teu Deus, desarraigar as nações, cuja terra te dará o Senhor, teu Deus, e tu as possuíres e morares nas suas cidades e nas suas casas, 2 três cidades separarás no meio da tua terra que te dará o Senhor, teu Deus, para a possuíres. 3 Preparar-te-ás o caminho e os termos da tua terra, que te fará possuir o Senhor, teu Deus, partirás em três; e isto será para que todo homicida se acolha ali.

4 E este é o caso tocante ao homicida que se acolher ali, para que viva: aquele que, por erro, ferir o seu próximo, a quem não aborrecia dantes. 5 Como também aquele que entrar com o seu próximo no bosque, para cortar lenha, e, pondo força na sua mão com o machado para cortar a árvore, o ferro saltar do cabo e ferir o seu próximo, e morrer, o tal se acolherá a uma dessas cidades e viverá; 6 para que o vingador do sangue não vá após o homicida, quando se esquentar o seu coração, e o alcance, por ser comprido o caminho, e lhe tire a vida; porque não é culpado de morte, pois o não aborrecia dantes. 7 Portanto, te dou ordem, dizendo: Três cidades separarás. 8 E, se o Senhor, teu Deus, dilatar os teus termos, como jurou a teus pais, e te der toda a terra que disse daria a teus pais 9 (quando guardares todos estes mandamentos que hoje te ordeno, para fazê-los, amando ao Senhor, teu Deus, e andando nos seus caminhos todos os dias), então, acrescentarás outras três cidades além destas três; 10 para que o sangue inocente se não derrame no meio da tua terra, que o Senhor, teu Deus, te dá por herança, e haja sangue sobre ti.

11 Mas, havendo alguém que aborrece a seu próximo, e lhe arma ciladas, e se levanta contra ele, e o fere na vida, de modo que morra, e se acolhe em alguma dessas cidades, 12 então, os anciãos da sua cidade mandarão, e dali o tirarão, e o entregarão na mão do vingador do sangue, para que morra. 13 O teu olho o não poupará; antes, tirarás o sangue inocente de Israel, para que bem te suceda.

14 Não mudes o marco do teu próximo, que colocaram os antigos na tua herança, que possuíres na terra, que te dá o Senhor, teu Deus, para a possuíres.

15 Uma só testemunha contra ninguém se levantará por qualquer iniquidade ou por qualquer pecado, seja qual for o pecado que pecasse; pela boca de duas ou três testemunhas, se estabelecerá o negócio. 16 Quando se levantar testemunha falsa contra alguém, para testificar contra ele acerca de transgressão, 17 então, aqueles dois homens, que tiverem a demanda, se apresentarão perante o Senhor, diante dos sacerdotes e dos juízes que houver naqueles dias. 18 E os juízes bem inquirirão; e eis que, sendo a testemunha falsa testemunha, que testificou falsidade contra seu irmão, 19 far-lhe-eis como cuidou fazer a seu irmão; e, assim, tirarás o mal do meio de ti, 20 para que os que ficarem o ouçam, e temam, e nunca mais tornem a fazer tal mal no meio de ti. 21 O teu olho não poupará: vida por vida, olho por olho, dente por dente, mão por mão, pé por pé.
