1 Now when all this was finished, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah and broke in pieces the pillars and hewed down the Ashe'rim and broke down the high places and the altars throughout all Judah and Benjamin, and in E'phraim and Manas'seh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the people of Israel returned to their cities, every man to his possession.2 And Hezeki'ah appointed the divisions of the priests and of the Levites, division by division, each according to his service, the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and peace offerings, to minister in the gates of the camp of the LORD and to give thanks and praise.3 The contribution of the king from his own possessions was for the burnt offerings: the burnt offerings of morning and evening, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths, the new moons, and the appointed feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD.4 And he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, that they might give themselves to the law of the LORD.5 As soon as the command was spread abroad, the people of Israel gave in abundance the first fruits of grain, wine, oil, honey, and of all the produce of the field; and they brought in abundantly the tithe of everything.6 And the people of Israel and Judah who lived in the cities of Judah also brought in the tithe of cattle and sheep, and the dedicated things which had been consecrated to the LORD their God, and laid them in heaps.7 In the third month they began to pile up the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month.8 When Hezeki'ah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD and his people Israel.9 And Hezeki'ah questioned the priests and the Levites about the heaps.10 Azari'ah the chief priest, who was of the house of Zadok, answered him, "Since they began to bring the contributions into the house of the LORD we have eaten and had enough and have plenty left; for the LORD has blessed his people, so that we have this great store left."11 Then Hezeki'ah commanded them to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD; and they prepared them.12 And they faithfully brought in the contributions, the tithes and the dedicated things. The chief officer in charge of them was Conani'ah the Levite, with Shim'e-i his brother as second;13 while Jehi'el, Azazi'ah, Nahath, As'ahel, Jer'imoth, Jo'zabad, Eli'el, Ismachi'ah, Mahath, and Benai'ah were overseers assisting Conani'ah and Shim'e-i his brother, by the appointment of Hezeki'ah the king and Azari'ah the chief officer of the house of God.14 And Ko're the son of Imnah the Levite, keeper of the east gate, was over the freewill offerings to God, to apportion the contribution reserved for the LORD and the most holy offerings.15 Eden, Mini'amin, Jeshua, Shemai'ah, Amari'ah, and Shecani'ah were faithfully assisting him in the cities of the priests, to distribute the portions to their brethren, old and young alike, by divisions,16 except those enrolled by genealogy, males from three years old and upwards, all who entered the house of the LORD as the duty of each day required, for their service according to their offices, by their divisions.17 The enrollment of the priests was according to their fathers' houses; that of the Levites from twenty years old and upwards was according to their offices, by their divisions.18 The priests were enrolled with all their little children, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, the whole multitude; for they were faithful in keeping themselves holy.19 And for the sons of Aaron, the priests, who were in the fields of common land belonging to their cities, there were men in the several cities who were designated by name to distribute portions to every male among the priests and to every one among the Levites who was enrolled.20 Thus Hezeki'ah did throughout all Judah; and he did what was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God.21 And every work that he undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered.

1 Quando a festa terminou, todos os israelitas que estavam em Jerusalém foram pelas cidades de Judá, quebrando as colunas do deus Baal, cortando os postes da deusa Aserá e destruindo os altares e os lugares pagãos de adoração. Fizeram o mesmo em todo o território das tribos de Judá, de Benjamim, de Efraim e de Manassés. Depois todos voltaram para casa.

2 Ezequias organizou os sacerdotes e os levitas em grupos, dando a cada grupo a sua responsabilidade. Os sacerdotes apresentavam os sacrifícios que eram completamente queimados e as ofertas de paz; os levitas cantavam louvores, e davam graças a Deus, e guardavam os portões do Templo. 3 Dos seus touros e dos seus carneiros, o rei dava animais para os sacrifícios a serem completamente queimados que eram oferecidos de manhã e à tarde e também para os sacrifícios a serem completamente queimados que eram oferecidos nos sábados, nas Festas da Lua Nova e nas outras festas fixas, conforme mandava a Lei de Deus, o Senhor.

4 O rei ordenou aos moradores de Jerusalém que entregassem aos sacerdotes e levitas tudo o que, de direito, era deles, a fim de que pudessem gastar todo o seu tempo fazendo aquilo que a Lei do Senhor mandava. 5 Logo que a ordem do rei foi anunciada, o povo deu generosamente a melhor parte do seu trigo, vinho, azeite, mel e de todos os outros produtos das suas plantações; trouxeram também em grande quantidade a décima parte de tudo o que tinham. 6 Os que moravam em Israel e os moradores das outras cidades de Judá também trouxeram a décima parte dos seus touros e dos seus carneiros e a décima parte de tudo o que tinham dedicado ao Senhor, seu Deus, e juntaram as coisas em grandes montões. 7 Começaram a amontoar as ofertas no terceiro mês e terminaram no sétimo mês. 8 Quando Ezequias e as altas autoridades foram ver aqueles montões de ofertas, louvaram a Deus, o Senhor, e elogiaram o povo de Israel. 9 Ezequias falou com os sacerdotes e os levitas a respeito daqueles montões, 10 e o Grande Sacerdote Azarias, descendente de Zadoque, respondeu:

— Desde que o povo começou a trazer todas estas ofertas ao Templo, nós temos tido bastante para comer, e tem sobrado muita coisa; o Senhor Deus tem abençoado o seu povo, e por isso temos comida até demais.

11 Aí o rei Ezequias ordenou que preparassem depósitos no Templo, e isso foi feito. 12 Foram honestos e colocaram ali todas as ofertas, os dízimos e as coisas dedicadas a Deus. Para tomar conta dos depósitos, puseram um levita chamado Conanias, que tinha como ajudante o seu irmão Simei. 13 O rei Ezequias e o Grande Sacerdote Azarias nomearam os seguintes levitas para servirem debaixo da direção de Conanias e Simei: Jeiel, Azarias, Naate, Asael, Jerimote, Jozabade, Eliel, Ismaquias, Maate e Benaías. 14 O guarda do Portão Leste do Templo, Coré, filho de Imna, estava encarregado das ofertas feitas a Deus por vontade própria; ele distribuía as ofertas e as coisas dedicadas a Deus. 15 Nas outras cidades onde os sacerdotes moravam, os seguintes levitas trabalhavam fielmente debaixo da direção de Coré: Éden, Miniamim, Jesua, Semaías, Amariá e Secanias. Estes distribuíam as porções devidas a todos os seus colegas, os levitas, de acordo com os grupos a que pertenciam, dando a cada um a mesma porção. 16 Sem levar em conta se os seus nomes estavam ou não nas listas dos seus antepassados, a distribuição era feita a todos os homens de trinta anos para cima que iam ao Templo para fazer os seus serviços diários, de acordo com o grupo a que pertenciam e o trabalho que faziam. 17 A lista dos sacerdotes foi feita de acordo com os seus grupos de famílias; os levitas de vinte anos para cima estavam alistados de acordo com o trabalho que faziam e o grupo a que pertenciam. 18 Nas listas estavam também os nomes das mulheres, dos filhos e das filhas, isto é, da família inteira. Os sacerdotes e os levitas tinham sido consagrados a Deus e precisavam estar sempre prontos para fazer o seu trabalho sagrado. 19 Havia também homens nomeados para distribuírem os alimentos que eram para os sacerdotes, os descendentes de Arão, que moravam nas cidades dos sacerdotes ou nos campos que ficavam ao redor, e também os alimentos que eram para todos os levitas cujos nomes estavam nas listas.

20 Foi isso o que Ezequias fez em toda a terra de Judá. Ele sempre foi bom, correto e fiel em todos os serviços que prestou ao Senhor, seu Deus. 21 Tudo o que Ezequias fez para o Templo ou em obediência à lei deu certo porque ele procurou sempre seguir com todo o coração a vontade de Deus.
