but as many as did receive him to them he gave authority to become sons of God -- to those believing in his name,
who -- not of blood nor of a will of flesh, nor of a will of man but -- of God were begotten.
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as a custom of certain is, but exhorting, and so much the more as you see the day coming near.
7 if chastening you endure, as to sons God bears Himself to you, for who is a son whom a father does not chasten?
8 and if you are apart from chastening, of which all have become partakers, then bastards are you, and not sons.
9 Then, indeed, fathers of our flesh we have had, chastising us, and we were reverencing them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of the spirits, and live?
10 for they, indeed, for a few days, according to what seemed good to them, were chastening, but He for profit, to be partakers of His separation;
33 And he answered them, saying, 'Who is my mother, or my brethren?'
34 And having looked round in a circle to those sitting about him, he said, 'Lo, my mother and my brethren!
35 for whoever may do the will of God, he is my brother, and my sister, and mother.'
An aged person you may not rebuke, but be entreating as a father; younger persons as brethren;
aged women as mothers, younger ones as sisters -- in all purity;
15 for you did not receive a spirit of bondage again for fear, but you did receive a spirit of adoption in which we cry, 'Abba -- Father.'
16 The Spirit himself does testify with our spirit, that we are children of God;
17 and if children, also heirs, heirs, indeed, of God, and heirs together of Christ -- if, indeed, we suffer together, that we may also be glorified together.
4 and when the fulness of time did come, God sent forth His Son, come of a woman, come under law,
5 that those under law he may redeem, that the adoption of sons we may receive;
6 and because you are sons, God did send forth the spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, 'Abba, Father!'
7 so that you are no more a servant, but a son, and if a son, also an heir of God through Christ.
26 for you are all sons of God through the faith in Christ Jesus,
27 for as many as to Christ were baptized did put on Christ;
28 there is not here Jew or Greek, there is not here servant nor freeman, there is not here male and female, for all you are one in Christ Jesus;
and the servant does not remain in the house -- to the age, the son does remain -- to the age;
so we, the many, one body are in Christ, and members each one of one another.
See you what love the Father has given to us, that children of God we may be called; because of this the world does not know us, because it did not know Him;
beloved, now, children of God are we, and it was not yet manifested what we shall be, and we have known that if he may be manifested, like him we shall be, because we shall see him as he is;
therefore, then, as we have opportunity, may we work the good to all, and especially unto those of the household of the faith.
and whether one member does suffer, suffer with it do all the members, or one member is glorified, rejoice with it do all the members;
For this cause I bow bend my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
of whom the whole family in the heavens and on earth is named,
having foreordained beforehand appointed, pre-selected us to the adoption of sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
to the praise of the glory of His grace, in which He made us accepted in the beloved Some Western MSS read his beloved (dear) Son ,
19 Then, therefore, you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens of the saints, and of the household of God,
20 being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being chief corner-stone,
21 in whom all the building fitly framed together does increase to an holy sanctuary in the Lord,
22 in whom also you are builded together, for a habitation an abode of God in the Spirit.
Jesus then said to them, 'If God were your father, you were loving me, for I came forth from God, and am come; for neither have I come of myself, but He sent me;
