A Volta de Jesus
And concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need of my writing to you,
for yourselves have known thoroughly that the day of the Lord as a thief in the night does so come,
for when they may say, Peace and surety, then sudden destruction does stand by them, as the travail does her who is with child, and they shall not escape;
36 'And concerning that day and the hour no one has known -- not even the messengers of the heavens -- except my Father only;
37 and as the days of Noah -- so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man;
38 for as they were, in the days before the flood, eating, and drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, till the day Noah entered into the ark,
39 and they did not know till the flood came and took all away; so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man.
And these things having said -- they beholding -- he was taken up, and a cloud did receive him up from their sight;
and as they were looking stedfastly to the heaven in his going on, then, lo, two men stood by them in white apparel,
who also said, 'Men, Galileans, why do you stand gazing into the heaven? this Jesus who was received up from you into the heaven, shall so come in what manner you saw him going on to the heaven.'
All these, then, being dissolved, what kind of persons does it behoove you to be in holy behaviors and pious acts?
waiting for and hasting to the presence of the day of God, by which the heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved, and the elements with burning heat shall melt;
and for new heavens and a new earth according to His promise we do wait, in which righteousness does dwell;
he says -- who is testifying these things -- 'Yes, I come quickly!' Amen! Yes, be coming, Lord Jesus!
And this one thing let not be unobserved by you, beloved, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day;
the Lord is not slow in regard to the promise, as certain count slowness, but is long-suffering to us, not counselling any to be lost but all to pass on to reformation,
and it will come -- the day of the Lord -- as a thief in the night, in which the heavens with a rushing noise will pass away, and the elements with burning heat be dissolved, and earth and the works in it shall be burnt up.
because the Lord himself, in a shout, in the voice of a chief-messenger, and in the trump of God, shall come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ shall rise first,
then we who are living, who are remaining over, together with them shall be caught away in clouds to meet the Lord in air, and so always with the Lord we shall be;
'And concerning that day and the hour no one has known -- not even the messengers who are in the heaven, not even the Son -- except the Father.
'For whoever may be ashamed of me, and of my words, of this one shall the Son of Man be ashamed, when he may come in his glory, and the Father's, and the holy messengers';
1 And we ask you, brethren, in regard to the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together unto him,
2 that you be not quickly shaken in mind, nor be troubled, neither through spirit, neither through word, neither through letters as through us, as that the day of Christ has arrived;
3 let not any one deceive you in any manner, because -- if the falling away may not come first, and the man of sin be revealed -- the son of the destruction,
4 who is opposing and is raising himself up above all called God or worshipped, so that he in the sanctuary of God as God has sat down, showing himself off that he is God -- the day does not come.
24 'But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
25 and the stars of the heaven shall be falling, and the powers that are in the heavens shall be shaken.
26 'And then they shall see the Son of Man coming in clouds with much power and glory,
27 and then he shall send his messengers, and gather together his chosen from the four winds, from the end of the earth unto the end of heaven.
in the house of my Father are many mansions; and if not, I would have told you; I go on to prepare a place for you;
and if I go on and prepare for you a place, again do I come, and will receive you unto myself, that where I am you also may be;
And lo, I come quickly, and my rewardis with me, to render to each as his work shall be;
'And whenever the Son of Man may come in his glory, and all the holy messengers with him, then he shall sit upon a throne of his glory;
and gathered together before him shall be all the nations, and he shall separate them from one another, as the shepherd does separate the sheep from the goats,
and he shall set the sheep indeed on his right hand, and the goats on the left.
'Watch you therefore, because you have not known in what hour your Lord does come;
and this know, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief does come, he had watched, and not permitted his house to be broken through;
because of this also you, become you ready, because in what hour you do not think, the Son of Man does come.
and as it is laid up to men once to die, and after this -- judgment,
so also the Christ, once having been offered to bear the sins of many, a second time, apart from a sin-offering, shall appear, to those waiting for him -- to salvation!
11 And I saw the heaven having been opened, and lo, a white horse, and he who is sitting upon it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness does he judge and war,
12 and his eyes are as a flame of fire, and upon his head are many diadems -- having a name written that no one has known, except himself,
13 and he is arrayed with a garment covered with blood, and his name is called, The Word of God.
14 And the armies in the heaven were following him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen -- white and pure;
15 and out of his mouth does proceed a sharp sword, that with it he may smite the nations, and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, and he does tread the press of the wine of the wrath and the anger of God the Almighty,
16 and he has upon the garment and upon his thigh the name written, 'King of kings, and Lord of lords.'
