Jfr 6:8-10. på uppriktig hängivenhet*8:2hängivenhetAnnan översättning: "givmildhet".. 3 De har gett efter sin förmåga, ja, över sin förmåga. Och det var helt frivilligt, det kan jag intyga. 4 *Apg 11:29. Ivrigt vädjade de och bad oss om nåden att få vara med i hjälpen till de heliga. 5 Och de gav inte bara det vi hade hoppats, utan de gav sig själva, först och främst åt Herren och sedan åt oss efter Guds vilja.

6 Därför bad vi Titus, som redan hade påbörjat insamlingen, att fullborda denna kärleksgåva hos er. 7 *1 Kor 1:5f. När ni nu är rika på allt – tro, tal, kunskap, hängivenhet och den kärlek vi har väckt hos er – var då också rika på den här kärleksgåvan.

8 *1 Kor 7:6. Detta säger jag inte som en befallning, utan för att pröva äktheten i er kärlek när andra visar en sådan iver. 9 *Matt 8:20, Fil 2:6f. Ni känner ju vår Herre Jesu Kristi nåd. Han var rik men blev fattig för er skull, för att ni genom hans fattigdom skulle bli rika. 10 *Matt 10:42, 2 Kor 9:2. Jag ger mitt råd i den här saken för att hjälpa er.

I fjol var ni först både med att påbörja arbetet och att besluta om det. 11 Fullborda nu arbetet, så att ni som med god vilja tog beslutet också genomför det utifrån vad ni har. 12 *Mark 12:43f. Finns den goda viljan är den välkommen med vad den har och bedöms inte efter vad den inte har. 13 Vi vill inte att andra ska få det bättre och ni få det svårt, utan att alla ska ha det lika. 14 Just nu ska ert överflöd avhjälpa deras brist, så att deras överflöd en annan gång kan avhjälpa er brist. Så blir det lika för alla, 15 som det står skrivet: Den som samlat mycket hade ingenting över, och den som samlat lite saknade ingenting.*8:15 2 Mos 16:18.

16 Vi tackar Gud som har väckt samma iver för er i Titus hjärta. 17 Han lyssnade till vår maning och blev så ivrig att han av egen fri vilja gav sig i väg till er. 18 Tillsammans med honom har vi sänt den broder som får beröm*8:18den broder som får berömDet är för oss oklart vem Paulus menar, kanske Lukas eller någon av dem som nämns i Apg 20:4 eftersom brodern var "vald av församlingarna" (vers 19). i alla församlingarna för sitt arbete i evangeliets tjänst. 19 *Gal 2:10. Och inte bara det, han är också vald av församlingarna till att följa med oss på resan med gåvan som vi förmedlar till Herrens ära och som bevis på vår goda vilja. 20 *2 Kor 6:3. Så undviker vi att någon kritiserar oss för hur vi förmedlar den frikostiga gåvan. 21 *Ords 3:4, Apg 24:16, Rom 12:17, Fil 4:8. Vi är nämligen noga med att göra det som är rätt, inte bara inför Herren utan också inför människor.

22 Tillsammans med dem har vi sänt ännu en broder*8:22ännu en broderÄven denne är okänd. Kanske någon av dem som nämns i Apg 20:4., som vi ofta och på många sätt har prövat och funnit hängiven, särskilt nu eftersom han har så stort förtroende för er. 23 Titus är min vän och medarbetare hos er, och våra andra bröder är församlingarnas sändebud*8:23sändebud Ordagrant: "apostlar". Här syftar ordet på församlingarnas utsända representanter (jfr 11:5 med not) och inte på Kristi särskilt utvalda uppståndelsevittnen (Matt 10:2). till Kristi ära. 24 *2 Kor 7:14. Ge dem nu inför församlingarna bevis på er kärlek och på att vi hade rätt när vi berömde er inför dem.

1 Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; 2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. 3 For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; 4 Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. 5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God. 6 Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also. 7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. 8 I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love. 9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. 10 And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago. 11 Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have. 12 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not. 13 For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: 14 But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality: 15 As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack. 16 But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you. 17 For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you. 18 And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches; 19 And not that only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind: 20 Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us: 21 Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men. 22 And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you. 23 Whether any do enquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren be enquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ. 24 Wherefore shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.
