1 Não clama, porventura, a sabedoria, E não eleva o entendimento a sua voz?2 No cume das alturas junto ao caminho, Nas encruzilhadas ela se coloca;3 Junto às portas, à entrada da cidade, À entrada das portas ela grita.4 A vós, ó homens, clamo: E a minha voz dirige-se aos filhos dos homens.5 Entendei, ó estúpidos, a prudência, Entendei, ó loucos, a sabedoria.6 Ouvi, pois falarei coisas excelentes; E proferirão os meus lábios coisas retas.7 A minha boca pronunciará a verdade, E os meus lábios abominam a perversidade.8 Justas são todas as palavras da minha boca, Nelas não há coisa torta ou perversa.9 Todas elas são claras para os que entendem, E retas para os que acham o conhecimento.10 Recebei a minha instrução, e não a prata; E o conhecimento antes do que o ouro escolhido.11 Pois a sabedoria é melhor do que os corais; E tudo o que se pode desejar, não é para ser comparado com ela.12 Eu, a sabedoria, tenho a prudência por morada, E possuo o conhecimento e a discrição.13 O temor de Jeová é odiar o mal: A soberba, e a arrogância, e o mau caminho, E a boca perversa, eu os odeio.14 Meu é o conselho, e a verdadeira sabedoria, Eu sou o entendimento, minha é a fortaleza.15 Por meio de mim reinam os reis, E os governadores decretam o que é justo.16 Por meio de mim governam os príncipes, E os nobres, todos os juízes da terra.17 Eu amo os que me amam; E os que me procuram diligentemente, me acharão.18 Riquezas e honra estão comigo, Bens duráveis e justiça.19 Melhor é o meu fruto do que o ouro, do que o ouro fino; E a minha renda do que a prata escolhida.20 Ando pelo caminho da justiça, No meio das veredas do juízo,21 Para dotar de bens os que me amam E encher os seus tesouros.22 Jeová me possuiu no princípio dos seus caminhos, Antes das suas obras da antigüidade.23 Desde a antigüidade fui constituída, desde o princípio, Antes de existir a terra.24 Quando ainda não havia abismos, fui dada à luz; Quando ainda não havia fontes cheias de água.25 Antes de serem firmados os montes, Antes de haver outeiros, fui dada à luz:26 Quando ele ainda não tinha feito a terra nem os campos, Nem o princípio do pó do mundo.27 Quando ele preparava os céus, lá estava eu; Quando traçava um círculo sobre a face do abismo,28 Quando estabelecia o firmamento lá em cima, Quando as fontes do abismo eram firmadas,29 Quando fixava ao mar o seu termo, Para que as águas não transgredissem o seu mando. Quando lançava os alicerces da terra,30 Então estava eu ao seu lado como arquiteto, E enchia-me de gozo dia após dia, Regozijando-me sempre diante dele;31 Regozijando-me na sua terra habitável, E achando as minhas delícias com os filhos dos homens.32 Agora, pois, filhos, ouvi-me; Pois felizes são os que observam os meus caminhos.33 Ouvi a instrução, e sede sábios, E não a rejeiteis.34 Feliz é o homem que me ouve, Velando todos os dias às minhas entradas, Esperando junto às ombreiras das minhas portas;35 Pois quem me achar, achará a vida, E alcançará o favor de Jeová.36 Aquele, porém, que pecar contra mim, faz o mal à sua própria alma: Todos os que me odeiam, amam a morte.

1 Doth not wisdom cry aloud, and prudence put forth her voice ?2 Standing in the top of the highest places by the way, in the midst of the paths.3 Beside the gates of the city, in the very doors she speaketh, saying:4 O ye men, to you I call, and my voice is to the sons of men.5 O little ones, understand subtilty, and ye unwise, take notice.6 Hear, for I will speak of great things: and my lips shall be opened to preach right things.7 My mouth shall meditate truth, and my lips shall hate wickedness.8 All my words are just, there is nothing wicked nor perverse in them.9 They are right to them that understand, and just to them that find knowledge.10 Receive my instruction, and not money: choose knowledge rather than gold.11 ,11For wisdom is better than all the most precious things: and whatsoever may be desired cannot be compared to12 I wisdom dwell in counsel, and am present in learned thoughts.13 The fear of the Lord hateth evil: I hate arrogance, and pride, and every wicked way, and a mouth with a double tongue.14 Counsel and equity is mine, prudence is mine, strength is mine.15 By me kings reign, and lawgivers decree just things,16 By me princes rule, and the mighty decree justice.17 I love them that love me: and they that in the morning early watch for me, shall find me.18 With me are riches and glory, glorious riches and justice.19 For my fruit is better than gold and the precious stone, and my blossoms than choice silver.20 I walk in the way of justice, in the midst of the paths of judgment,21 That I may enrich them that love me, and may fill their treasures.22 The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his ways, before he made any thing from the beginning.23 I was set up from eternity, and of old before the earth was made.24 The depths were not as yet, and I was already conceived. neither had the fountains of waters as yet sprung out:25 The mountains with their huge bulk had not as yet been established: before the hills I was brought forth:26 He had not yet made the earth, nor the rivers, nor the poles of the world.27 When he prepared the heavens, I was present: when with a certain law and compass he enclosed the depths:28 When he established the sky above, and poised the fountains of waters:29 When he compassed the sea with its bounds, and set a law to the waters that they should not pass their limits: when be balanced the foundations of the earth;30 I was with him forming all things: and was delighted every day, playing before him at all times;31 Playing in the world: and my delights were to be with the children of men.32 Now therefore, ye children, hear me: Blessed are they that keep my ways.33 Hear instruction and be wise, and refuse it not.34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, and that watcheth daily at my gates, and waiteth at the posts of my doors.35 He that shall find me, shall find life, and shall have salvation from the Lord:36 But he that shall sin against me, shall hurt his own soul. All that hate me love death.
