Os príncipes de Salomão e a grandeza do seu reino

1 O rei Salomão reinou sobre todo o Israel. 2 Estes eram os príncipes que tinha: Azarias, filho de Zadoque, era *1Cr 6.10sacerdote; 3 Eliorefe e Aías, filhos de Sisa, secretários; Josafá, filho de Ailude, era o cronista; 4 Benaia, filho de Joiada, era general do exército; Zadoque e Abiatar eram sacerdotes; 5 Azarias, filho de Natã, estava sobre os *1Rs 4.7oficiais; Zabude, filho de Natã, era ministro de Estado e amigo do rei; 6 Abisar era mordomo; e Adonirão, filho de Abda, estava sobre os que trabalhavam forçados.

7 Salomão tinha doze oficiais sobre todo o Israel, que proviam de mantimentos o rei e sua casa; cada um tinha que fornecer mantimento para um mês no ano. 8 São estes os seus nomes: Ben-Hur, *Js 24.33na região montanhosa de Efraim; 9 Ben-Dequer, em Macaz, *Jz 1.35Saalbim, *Js 21.16Bete-Semes e Elom-Bete-Hanã; 10 Ben-Hesede, em Arubote; a este pertencia *Js 15.35Socó e toda a terra de *Js 12.17Hefer; 11 Ben-Abinadabe, *Js 11.1-2no alto de Dor, o qual tinha por mulher a Tafate, filha de Salomão; 12 Baaná, filho de Ailude, *Jz 5.19em Taanaque, e Megido, e em toda *Js 17.11Bete-Seã, que está junto a *Js 3.16Zaretã, debaixo de Jezreel, desde Bete-Seã até *1Rs 19.16Abel-Meolá, para além de *1Cr 6.68Jocmeão; 13 Ben-Geder, em *1Rs 22.3-15Ramote-Gileade; a este pertenciam as *Nm 32.41aldeias de Jair, filho de Manassés, as quais estão em Gileade, e também *Dt 3.4a região de Argobe, que é em Basã, sessenta grandes cidades com muros e ferrolhos de bronze; 14 Ainadabe, filho de Ido, em *Js 13.26Maanaim; 15 *2Sm 15.27Aimaás, em Naftali, o qual tomou por mulher a Basemate, filha de Salomão; 16 Baaná, filho de *2Sm 15.32Husai, em Aser e Alote; 17 Josafá, filho de Parua, em Issacar; 18 *1Rs 1.8Simei, filho de Ela, em Benjamim; 19 Geber, filho de Uri, na terra de Gileade, *Dt 3.8-10país de Seom, rei dos amorreus, e de Ogue, rei de Basã; e era ele o único oficial que estava nessa terra.

20 *1Rs 3.8;Gn 32.12Judá e Israel eram tão numerosos como a areia que está à beira do mar; comiam, e bebiam, e se alegravam. 21 *2Cr 9.26Salomão dominava sobre todos os reinos desde o *Gn 15.18rio até a terra dos filisteus e até o termo do Egito, *2Sm 8.2,6os quais lhe pagavam tributo e o serviam todos os dias da sua vida. 22 Os víveres para a mesa de Salomão eram cada dia trinta coros de flor de farinha e sessenta coros de farinha; 23 dez bois cevados, e vinte bois tirados das pastagens, e cem ovelhas, afora veados, e gazelas, e cabras monteses, e aves cevadas. 24 Pois dominava ele sobre toda a região e sobre *Sl 72.11todos os reis aquém do rio, desde Tifsa *Jz 1.18até Gaza, *1Cr 22.9e tinha paz por todo o derredor. 25 *Jr 23.6;Mq 4.4;Zc 3.10Em Judá e Israel, habitava cada qual em segurança, debaixo da sua videira e debaixo da sua figueira, *1Sm 3.20desde Dã até Berseba, por todos os dias de Salomão. 26 *1Rs 10.26Salomão tinha quarenta mil manjedouras de cavalos para os seus carros e doze mil cavaleiros. 27 Os sobreditos oficiais, cada qual no seu mês, proviam de mantimentos o rei Salomão e todos os que chegavam à sua mesa; coisa nenhuma deixavam faltar. 28 Também levavam cevada e palha para os cavalos e *Et 8.10,14;Mq 1.13ginetes para o lugar em que estava o rei, cada um segundo o seu cargo.

A sabedoria de Salomão

29 *1Rs 3.12Deu também Deus a Salomão sabedoria e entendimento em alto grau e conhecimentos múltiplos, *1Rs 4.20como a areia que está à beira do mar. 30 A sabedoria de Salomão excedia *Gn 29.1;Jz 6.33à de todos os filhos do Oriente e a *Is 19.11;At 7.22toda a sabedoria do Egito. 31 *1Rs 3.12Era mais sábio do que todos os homens, mais sábio do que *1Cr 15.19;Sl 89, títuloEtã, ezraíta, e do que Hemã, e do que *1Cr 2.6Calcol, e do que Darda, filhos de Maol. Correu a sua fama por todas as nações circunvizinhas. 32 *Pv 1.1;Ec 12.9;Ct 1.1Falou também três mil provérbios, e foram os seus cânticos mil e cinco. 33 Tratou de todas as árvores, desde o cedro que está no Líbano até o hissopo que sai da parede; tratou também dos animais, e das aves, e dos répteis, e dos peixes. 34 *1Rs 10.1;2Cr 9.23De todos os povos vinham pessoas a ouvir a sabedoria de Salomão, da parte de todos os reis que tinham ouvido da sua sabedoria.

7 And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision. 8 And these are their names: The son of Hur, in mount Ephraim:*4.8 The son…: or, Ben-hur 9 The son of Dekar, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Beth-shemesh, and Elon-beth-hanan:*4.9 The son…: or, Ben-dekar 10 The son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him pertained Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:*4.10 The son…: or, Ben-hesed 11 The son of Abinadab, in all the region of Dor; which had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife:*4.11 The son…: or, Ben-abinadab 12 Baana the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach and Megiddo, and all Beth-shean, which is by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Beth-shean to Abel-meholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam: 13 The son of Geber, in Ramoth-gilead; to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars:*4.13 The son…: or, Ben-geber 14 Ahinadab the son of Iddo had Mahanaim:*4.14 Mahanaim: or, to Mahanaim 15 Ahimaaz was in Naphtali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon to wife: 16 Baanah the son of Hushai was in Asher and in Aloth: 17 Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar: 18 Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin: 19 Geber the son of Uri was in the country of Gilead, in the country of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer which was in the land.

20 Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry. 21 And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

22 And Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,*4.22 provision: Heb. bread*4.22 measures: Heb. cors 23 Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl. 24 For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him. 25 And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.*4.25 safely: Heb. confidently

26 And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. 27 And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing. 28 Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.*4.28 dromedaries: or, mules, or, swift beasts

29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. 30 And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about. 32 And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five. 33 And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes. 34 And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.
