Abolição da idolatria

1 Acabado tudo isso, todos os de Israel que se acharam presentes saíram pelas cidades de Judá, *2Rs 18.4despedaçaram as colunas, cortaram os Aserins e demoliram os altos e altares em toda a Judá e Benjamim, como também em Efraim e Manassés, até que destruíram tudo. Depois, voltaram todos os filhos de Israel, cada um para a sua possessão, e entraram nas suas cidades.

Leis referentes às ofertas e aos dízimos

2 Ezequias organizou as *1Cr 24.1turmas dos sacerdotes e dos levitas, segundo as suas turmas, cada um segundo o seu serviço, sacerdotes e levitas, para *1Cr 23.28-31os holocaustos e ofertas pacíficas e para ministrarem, renderem ação de graças e cantarem louvores nas portas do arraial de Jeová. 3 Também determinou *2Cr 35.7a parte que tocava ao rei, dar da sua fazenda para os holocaustos, para os holocaustos da manhã e da tarde, e os holocaustos dos sábados, das luas novas e das festas fixas, *Nm 28.1—29.40como está escrito na lei de Jeová. 4 Ordenou, além disso, ao povo que morava em Jerusalém que desse *Nm 18.8a porção pertencente aos sacerdotes e aos levitas, para que se pudessem entregar à lei de Jeová. 5 Logo que essa ordem se divulgou, os filhos de Israel deram em abundância as primícias de trigo, mosto, azeite, mel e de toda a novidade do campo; e trouxeram em abundância o *Ne 13.12dízimo de tudo. 6 Os filhos de Israel e de Judá que moravam nas cidades de Judá trouxeram também o dízimo de bois e de ovelhas e o *Lv 27.30;Dt 14.28dízimo de coisas dedicadas que foram consagradas a Jeová, seu Deus, e depositaram-nas em montões. 7 No terceiro mês, começaram a formar os montões e, no sétimo mês, acabaram. 8 Vindo Ezequias e os príncipes a ver os montões, bendisseram a Jeová e ao seu povo de Israel. 9 Então, perguntou Ezequias aos sacerdotes e aos levitas acerca dos montões. 10 Respondeu-lhe o sumo sacerdote Azarias, *1Cr 6.8-9da casa de Zadoque: *Ml 3.10Desde que o povo começou a trazer as oblações para a Casa de Jeová, temos comido e nos temos fartado delas, e nos tem sobejado bastante, porque Jeová abençoou ao seu povo, e os sobejos constituem essa abastança.

11 Ezequias ordenou que se aprontassem *1Rs 6.5,8celeiros na Casa de Jeová; e os aprontaram. 12 Ali, recolheram fielmente as oblações, e os dízimos, e as coisas dedicadas; e delas *2Cr 35.9tinha cargo o levita Conanias, e, depois dele, Simei, seu irmão. 13 Jeiel, Azarias, Naate, Asael, Jerimote, Jozabade, Eliel, Ismaquias, Maate e Benaia eram superintendentes sob a direção de Conanias e de seu irmão Simei, por mandado do rei Ezequias e de *2Cr 31.10Azarias, chefe da Casa de Deus. 14 O levita Coré, filho de Imná e guarda da Porta Oriental, estava encarregado das ofertas voluntárias que se faziam a Deus, para distribuir as oblações de Jeová e as coisas santíssimas. 15 Debaixo das suas ordens, tinham *2Cr 29.12Éden, Miniamim, Jesua, Semaías, Amarias, e Secanias, *Js 21.9-19nas cidades dos sacerdotes, o *1Cr 9.22ofício de fazer a distribuição por turmas a seus irmãos, pequenos e grandes, 16 excluídos os que foram registrados nas genealogias dos homens, desde a idade de três anos e daí para cima, a saber, todos os que entravam na Casa de Jeová, *Ed 3.4como exigia o dever de cada dia, pelo seu serviço nos seus cargos segundo as suas turmas. 17 Quanto ao registro dos sacerdotes, foi ele feito segundo as suas famílias, e o dos levitas *1Cr 23.24de vinte anos e daí para cima foi feito segundo os seus cargos nas suas turmas, 18 e o de todos os seus pequeninos, mulheres, filhos e filhas foi feito por toda a corporação, porque no seu ofício se houveram com fidelidade. 19 Além disso, os sacerdotes, filhos de Arão, que moravam nos *Lv 25.34;Nm 35.2-5arrabaldes das suas cidades, em cada cidade, *2Cr 31.12-15tinham homens, designados por nome, para fazer a distribuição a todos os homens dos sacerdotes e a todos os levitas que foram registrados.

20 Assim fez Ezequias em todo o Judá. *2Rs 20.3;22.2Fez o que era bom, reto e fiel perante Jeová, seu Deus. 21 Em toda a sua obra que começou no serviço da Casa de Deus, e na lei, e nos mandamentos, para buscar ao seu Deus, ele o fez de todo o seu coração e foi bem sucedido.

1 Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and brake the images in pieces, and cut down the groves, and threw down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. 2 And Hezekiah appointed the courses of the priests and the Levites after their courses, every man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the tents of the LORD. 3 He appointed also the king’s portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, to wit, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD. 4 Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD.

5 And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of corn, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly.*31.5 came…: Heb. brake forth*31.5 honey: or, dates 6 And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelt in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated unto the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps.*31.6 by heaps: Heb. heaps, heaps 7 In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. 8 And when Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and his people Israel. 9 Then Hezekiah questioned with the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps. 10 And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: for the LORD hath blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.

11 Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD; and they prepared them,*31.11 chambers: or, storehouses 12 And brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated things faithfully: over which Cononiah the Levite was ruler, and Shimei his brother was the next. 13 And Jehiel, and Azaziah, and Nahath, and Asahel, and Jerimoth, and Jozabad, and Eliel, and Ismachiah, and Mahath, and Benaiah, were overseers under the hand of Cononiah and Shimei his brother, at the commandment of Hezekiah the king, and Azariah the ruler of the house of God.*31.13 under…: Heb. at the hand 14 And Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the porter toward the east, was over the freewill offerings of God, to distribute the oblations of the LORD, and the most holy things. 15 And next him were Eden, and Miniamin, and Jeshua, and Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, in their set office, to give to their brethren by courses, as well to the great as to the small:*31.15 next…: Heb. at his hand*31.15 set…: or, trust 16 Beside their genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even unto every one that entereth into the house of the LORD, his daily portion for their service in their charges according to their courses; 17 Both to the genealogy of the priests by the house of their fathers, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their charges by their courses; 18 And to the genealogy of all their little ones, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, through all the congregation: for in their set office they sanctified themselves in holiness:*31.18 set…: or, trust 19 Also of the sons of Aaron the priests, which were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city, the men that were expressed by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites.

20 And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and wrought that which was good and right and truth before the LORD his God. 21 And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.
