A celebração da Páscoa em Jerusalém

1 *2Rs 23.21Josias celebrou a Páscoa a Jeová, em Jerusalém; *Êx 12.6;Nm 9.3e mataram o cordeiro da Páscoa no décimo quarto dia do primeiro mês. 2 Estabeleceu os sacerdotes nos seus cargos e *2Cr 29.11animou-os a servirem na Casa de Jeová. 3 Disse aos *2Cr 17.8-9;Ne 8.7levitas que ensinavam a todo o Israel e que estavam consagrados a Jeová: Ponde a arca sagrada na casa que Salomão, filho de Davi, rei de Israel, edificou; *1Cr 23.26não será mais uma carga sobre os vossos ombros. Agora, servi a Jeová, vosso Deus, e ao seu povo de Israel. 4 *1Cr 9.10-13Preparai-vos pelas vossas famílias, pelas vossas turmas, *2Cr 8.14conforme o que escreveram Davi, rei de Israel, e seu filho Salomão. 5 *Ed 6.18Ministrai no santo lugar segundo as divisões das famílias de vossos irmãos, filhos do povo, e haja para cada divisão uma parte de uma família de levitas. 6 *2Cr 35.1Matai o cordeiro pascoal, *2Cr 29.5santificai-vos e preparai a Páscoa para vossos irmãos, fazendo conforme a palavra de Jeová, dada por meio de Moisés.

Descrição da Páscoa observada por Josias

7 Josias deu aos filhos do povo, a todos os que se achavam presentes, cordeiros e cabritos do rebanho, em número de trinta mil, todos para as ofertas pascoais, e três mil novilhos: tudo da fazenda do rei. 8 Os seus príncipes fizeram dádivas ao povo, aos sacerdotes e aos levitas, para as ofertas voluntárias. Hilquias, Zacarias e Jeiel, *2Cr 31.13chefes da Casa de Deus, deram aos sacerdotes para as ofertas pascoais duas mil e seiscentas reses de gado miúdo e trezentos bois. 9 Também *2Cr 31.12Conanias, Semaías e Natanael, seus irmãos, e Hasabias, Jeiel e Jozabade, chefes dos levitas, deram aos levitas para as ofertas pascoais cinco mil reses de gado miúdo e quinhentos bois.

10 Assim, se preparou o serviço, e *2Cr 35.5os sacerdotes se puseram em seu lugar, como também os levitas pelas suas turmas, segundo o mandado do rei. 11 *2Cr 35.1,6Imolou-se a Páscoa; *2Cr 29.22os sacerdotes aspergiam o sangue que lhes era entregue, e *2Cr 29.34os levitas esfolavam as reses. 12 Removeram os holocaustos, para os distribuírem segundo as divisões dos filhos do povo, a fim de fazerem ofertas a Jeová, como está escrito no livro de Moisés. Assim fizeram com os bois. 13 *Êx 12.8-9Assaram a Páscoa no fogo, segundo a ordenança; *Lv 6.25as ofertas sagradas, cozeram-nas em panelas, em caldeirões e em tachos e distribuíram-nas prontamente a todo o povo. 14 Depois, as prepararam para si e para os sacerdotes; porque os sacerdotes, filhos de Arão, estavam ocupados até a noite em oferecerem os holocaustos e a gordura. Por isso, os levitas prepararam para si e para os sacerdotes, filhos de Arão. 15 Os cantores, filhos de Asafe, estavam no seu lugar, *1Cr 25.1segundo o mandado de Davi, de Asafe, de Hemã e de Jedutum, vidente do rei; e *1Cr 26.12-19os porteiros estavam a cada porta; não tinham necessidade de abandonarem o seu serviço, porque os levitas, seus irmãos, prepararam para eles.

16 Estabeleceu-se, naquele dia, todo o serviço de Jeová, para celebrar a Páscoa e para oferecer os holocaustos sobre o altar de Jeová, segundo o mandado do rei Josias. 17 Os filhos de Israel que se achavam presentes celebraram a Páscoa naquele tempo e *2Cr 30.21a Festa dos Pães Asmos, por sete dias. 18 *2Cr 30.5;2Rs 23.21Não se celebrou em Israel uma festa semelhante a essa desde os dias do profeta Samuel; e nenhum dos reis de Israel celebrou tal Páscoa qual celebrou Josias, com os sacerdotes, e os levitas, e todo o Judá e Israel que se achavam presentes, os habitantes de Jerusalém. 19 Foi celebrada essa Páscoa no décimo oitavo ano do reinado de Josias.

Josias provoca ao rei do Egito e é morto

20 *2Rs 23.29-30Depois de tudo isso, havendo Josias já preparado o templo, subiu Neco, rei do Egito, para pelejar contra *Is 10.9;Jr 46.2Carquemis junto ao Eufrates. Josias saiu-lhe ao encontro. 21 Mas Neco mandou-lhe mensageiros, que lhe dissessem: *2Cr 25.19Que tenho eu contigo, rei de Judá? Não venho contra ti hoje, mas contra a casa à qual faço guerra; Deus me mandou que me apressasse. Deixa de te opores a Deus, que está comigo; não suceda que ele te mate. 22 Todavia, não quis virar dele o seu rosto, mas *2Cr 18.29disfarçou-se, para pelejar contra ele e, não dando ouvidos às palavras que Neco *2Cr 35.21lhe falou da parte de Deus, veio pelejar no vale de *Jz 5.19Megido. 23 Os flecheiros atiraram contra o rei Josias. Disse o rei ao seus servos: Tirai-me daqui, pois estou gravemente ferido. 24 Os seus servos o removeram do carro, o puseram no segundo carro que lhe pertencia e o levaram para Jerusalém. Ele morreu, e sepultaram-no nos sepulcros de seus pais. *Zc 12.11Todo o Judá e Jerusalém prantearam a Josias. 25 *Jr 22.10;Lm 4.20Jeremias fez uma lamentação sobre Josias. Todos os cantores e cantoras, nas suas lamentações, têm falado de Josias até o dia de hoje; estabeleceram-nas como costume em Israel, e estão escritas nas lamentações. 26 Ora, o resto dos atos de Josias, e as suas boas obras, segundo o que está escrito na lei de Jeová, 27 e os seus atos, tanto os primeiros como os últimos, estão escritos no Livro dos Reis de Israel e de Judá.

1 Moreover Josiah kept a passover unto the LORD in Jerusalem: and they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month. 2 And he set the priests in their charges, and encouraged them to the service of the house of the LORD, 3 And said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy unto the LORD, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; it shall not be a burden upon your shoulders: serve now the LORD your God, and his people Israel, 4 And prepare yourselves by the houses of your fathers, after your courses, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son. 5 And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the families of the fathers of your brethren the people, and after the division of the families of the Levites.*35.5 the families of the fathers: Heb. the house of the fathers*35.5 the people: Heb. the sons of the people 6 So kill the passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare your brethren, that they may do according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses. 7 And Josiah gave to the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all for the passover offerings, for all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks: these were of the king’s substance.*35.7 gave: Heb. offered 8 And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen.*35.8 gave willingly: Heb. offered, etc 9 Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for passover offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen.*35.9 gave: Heb. offered 10 So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites in their courses, according to the king’s commandment. 11 And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levites flayed them. 12 And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen. 13 And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance: but the other holy offerings sod they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the people.*35.13 divided…: Heb. made them run 14 And afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: because the priests the sons of Aaron were busied in offering of burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron. 15 And the singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s seer; and the porters waited at every gate; they might not depart from their service; for their brethren the Levites prepared for them.*35.15 place: Heb. station 16 So all the service of the LORD was prepared the same day, to keep the passover, and to offer burnt offerings upon the altar of the LORD, according to the commandment of king Josiah. 17 And the children of Israel that were present kept the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days.*35.17 present: Heb. found 18 And there was no passover like to that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Israel keep such a passover as Josiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.*35.18 present: Heb. found 19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this passover kept.

20 After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Carchemish by Euphrates: and Josiah went out against him.*35.20 temple: Heb. house 21 But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war: for God commanded me to make haste: forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not.*35.21 the house…: Heb. the house of my war 22 Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and hearkened not unto the words of Necho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo. 23 And the archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, Have me away; for I am sore wounded.*35.23 wounded: Heb. made sick 24 His servants therefore took him out of that chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in one of the sepulchres of his fathers. 25 And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah: and all the singing men and the singing women spake of Josiah in their lamentations to this day, and made them an ordinance in Israel: and, behold, they are written in the lamentations. 26 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his goodness, according to that which was written in the law of the LORD,*35.26 goodness: Heb. kindnesses 27 And his deeds, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
