Prefácio e saudação

Conselhos e admoestação

4 *3Jo 3s.Folgo muito em ter achado alguns de teus filhos andando em verdade, conforme o mandamento que recebemos do Pai. 5 Agora, te rogo, senhora, *1Jo 2.7não como te escrevendo um novo mandamento, mas o mesmo que temos tido desde o princípio, que *1Jo 3.11nos amemos uns aos outros. 6 *1Jo 5.3; cp.1Jo 2.5Esse amor consiste em andarmos segundo os seus mandamentos; e esse mandamento consiste, *1Jo 2.24conforme ouvistes desde o princípio, em andardes neste amor. 7 Pois *1Jo 2.26muitos sedutores *1Jo 4.1; cp.1Jo 2.19têm aparecido no mundo, os quais *1Jo 4.2s.não confessam que Jesus Cristo veio em carne; esse tal é o sedutor e o *1Jo 2.18anticristo. 8 *Mc 13.9Acautelai-vos, para *Hb 10.35; cp.1Co 3.8que não percais o nosso trabalho, mas recebais pleno galardão. 9 Todo o que vai além do ensino de Cristo *Jo 8.31; cp.Jo 7.16;1Jo 2.23e não permanece nele não tem a Deus; o que permanece nesse ensino tem tanto ao Pai como ao Filho. 10 Se alguém vem ter convosco e não traz este ensino, *Rm 16.17; cp.1Rs 13.16s.não o recebais em casa, nem o saudeis; 11 porque aquele que o saúda *1Tm 5.22; cp.Jd 23participa de suas más obras.

Conclusão

12 *2Jo 12;3Jo 13-14Embora tenha muitas coisas para vos escrever, não o quero fazer com papel e tinta, mas espero ir visitar-vos e falar-vos face a face, para que o nosso *1Jo 1.4;Jo 3.29gozo seja completo. 13 Os filhos de tua *cp.2Jo 1irmã eleita te saúdam.

1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; 2 For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever. 3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. 5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. 6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. 7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full. 13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
