Cristo é superior aos sumos sacerdotes da antiga aliança

1 Pois todo sumo sacerdote, *Êx 28.1sendo escolhido dentre os homens, é constituído a favor dos homens nas *vd.Hb 2.17coisas pertencentes a Deus, para que *Hb 8.3s.;9.9; cp.Hb 7.27;10.11ofereça tanto dons como sacrifícios *Hb 7.27;10.12; vd.1Co 15.3pelos pecados, 2 *cp.Hb 2.18;4.15o qual possa condoer-se dos *cp.Hb 9.7; vd.Ef 4.18ignorantes e *Tg 5.19; cp.1Pe 2.25dos que erram, pois que ele também está *cp.Hb 7.28cercado de enfermidades, 3 e, por essa razão deve, *Hb 7.27;9.7;Lv 9.7;16.6tanto pelo povo como também por si mesmo, oferecer sacrifício pelos pecados. 4 *Nm 16.40;18.7;2Cr 26.18Ninguém arroga para si essa honra, senão quando é chamado por Deus, *Êx 28.1;1Cr 23.13como também foi Arão. 5 Assim, também Cristo *Jo 8.54não se exaltou a si mesmo para ser feito *cp.Hb 2.17;Hb 5.10sumo sacerdote, mas aquele que lhe *vd.Hb 1.1,5;Sl 2.7disse:

Tu és meu Filho,

hoje eu te gerei;

Tu és sacerdote para sempre segundo *Hb 5.10;Hb 6.20;Hb 7; esp.7.11,17a ordem de Melquisedeque.

7 Ele, nos dias da sua carne, *Mt 26.39,42,44;Mc 14.36,39;Lc 22.41,44tendo oferecido preces, e súplicas com *Mt 27.46,50;Mc 15.34,37;Lc 23.46forte clamor, e lágrimas ao que *Mc 14.36podia salvá-lo da morte e tendo sido ouvido pela sua *Hb 12.28; cp.Hb 11.7reverência, 8 embora fosse *vd.Hb 1.2Filho, aprendeu *vd.Fp 2.8a obediência pelas coisas que sofreu, 9 e, tendo sido *vd.Hb 2.10aperfeiçoado, tornou-se autor da salvação eterna para todos os que lhe obedecem, 10 chamado por Deus *cp.Hb 2.17;Hb 5.5sumo sacerdote segundo *Hb 5.6;Hb 6.20;Hb 7; esp.7.11,17a ordem de Melquisedeque.

Os cristãos hebreus não tinham progredido

11 Acerca deste muito temos que dizer e difícil de explicar, visto que vos tendes tornado tardios em ouvir. 12 Pois, devendo já ser mestres em razão do tempo, tendes ainda mister de que alguém vos ensine *vd.Gl 4.3os rudimentos dos *Hb 6.1princípios elementares dos *vd.At 7.38oráculos de Deus e vos tendes tornado tais, que tendes precisão de *1Co 3.2; cp.1Pe 2.2leite e não de mantimento sólido. 13 Todo o que usa de leite é inexperiente na palavra da justiça, pois é *1Co 3.1; cp.1Co 14.20;1Pe 2.2criança; 14 mas o mantimento sólido é para *vd.1Co 2.6;Ef 4.13;Hb 6.1os adultos, para aqueles que têm, pela prática, as suas faculdades *cp.1Tm 4.7exercitadas para *cp.Rm 14.1discernirem tanto o bem como o mal.

1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: 2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. 3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. 4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. 5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. 6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; 10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
