Descrição dos sofrimentos do povo

1 A visão que *Is 2.1Isaías, filho de Amoz, teve acerca de *Is 2.1;40.9Judá e de Jerusalém, nos dias de *2Rs 15.1,13Uzias, *2Rs 15.32Jotão, *Is 7.1;2Rs 16.1Acaz e *2Rs 18.1Ezequias, reis de Judá.

2 *Dt 32.1Ouvi, ó céus, e dá ouvidos, ó *Mq 1.2terra, porque fala Jeová: Nutri e fiz crescer *Jr 3.22filhos, mas eles *Is 1.23;30.1,9;65.2se rebelaram contra mim. 3 O boi conhece ao seu possuidor, e o jumento, a manjedoura do seu dono; mas Israel *Is 5.13;Jr 8.7não tem conhecimento, o meu povo *Is 5.12;44.18não entende. 4 Ai da nação pecaminosa, do povo *Is 5.18carregado de iniquidade, da *Is 14.20semente que consta de malfeitores, dos filhos que *Ne 1.7praticam a corrupção! *Is 1.28Abandonaram Jeová, *Is 5.24desprezaram o Santo de Israel, retiraram-se para trás. 5 Por que quereis ainda ser feridos, *Is 31.6continuando na apostasia? Toda a cabeça está *Is 33.24;Ez 34.4,16enferma, e todo o coração, abatido. 6 *Jó 2.7Desde a planta do pé até a cabeça, não há nele *Sl 38.3coisa sã; há só feridas, *Is 30.26e contusões, e chagas vivas; não foram exprimidas, nem atadas, nem *Lc 10.34amolecidas com óleo. 7 A *Is 6.11;Lv 26.33;Jr 44.6vossa terra está desolada, as vossas cidades, abrasadas de fogo; a vossa lavoura, os estrangeiros devoraram-na na vossa presença, e ela fica desolada, uma assolação feita por estrangeiros. 8 A filha de Sião é deixada como a *Jó 27.18choupana na vinha, como a choça no pepinal, como cidade sitiada. 9 *Rm 9.29Se Jeová dos Exércitos não nos tivesse deixado alguns de *Is 10.20-22;11.11,16;37.4,31-32;46.3resto, teríamos sido como Sodoma, ter-nos-íamos tornado tais como Gomorra.

O formalismo é condenado

10 Ouvi a *Is 8.20;28.14palavra de Jeová, governadores de *Is 3.9;Ez 16.46;Ap 11.8Sodoma; dai ouvidos à lei do nosso Deus, povo de Gomorra. 11 *Is 66.3;Jr 6.20;Ml 1.10De que me serve a mim a multidão dos vossos sacrifícios? — diz Jeová. Já estou farto dos holocaustos de carneiros e da gordura de animais cevados; e não me agrado do sangue de novilhos, ou de cordeiros, ou de bodes. 12 Quando vindes a *Êx 23.17comparecer perante mim, quem requereu de vós isto, o pisardes os meus átrios? 13 Não continueis a trazer oblações; *Is 66.3o incenso para mim é abominação; a *1Cr 23.31lua nova e o sábado, *Êx 12.16a convocação das assembleias… não posso suportar *Jr 7.9-10a iniquidade e o ajuntamento solene. 14 As vossas *Is 29.1-2luas novas e as vossas festas fixas, a minha alma as aborrece; elas me são como carga; estou *Is 7.13;43.24cansado de as sofrer. 15 Quando *1Rs 8.22;Lm 1.17estenderdes as vossas mãos, *Is 8.17;59.2esconderei de vós os meus olhos; ainda quando *Mq 3.4multipliqueis as vossas orações, não ouvirei: *Is 59.3as vossas mãos estão cheias de sangue. 16 *Sl 26.6Lavai-vos, *Is 52.11purificai-vos; *Is 55.7tirai de diante dos meus olhos a maldade das vossas ações; *Jr 25.5cessai de fazer o mal. 17 Aprendei a fazer o bem, *Jr 22.3;Sf 2.3procurai o que é justo, *Is 58.6fazei que o opressor seja reto, *Sl 82.3fazei justiça ao órfão, defendei a causa da viúva.

18 Vinde, pois, *Is 41.1-21;43.26;Mq 6.2arrazoemos, diz Jeová; *Is 44.22;45.25;Sl 51.7;Ap 7.14ainda que os vossos pecados sejam como o escarlate, ficarão brancos como a neve; ainda que sejam vermelhos como o carmesim, tornar-se-ão como a lã. 19 *Dt 30.15-16Se for da vossa vontade e obedecerdes, *Is 30.23-24;55.2;58.14;62.8-9;65.21-22;Ed 9.12comereis os produtos do país; 20 mas, se recusardes e fordes rebeldes, *Is 3.25;65.12sereis devorados pela espada. Pois *Is 34.16;40.5;58.14;Mq 4.4a boca de Jeová o disse.

Sião está corrompida, mas ainda será remida

21 Como se fez *Is 57.3-9;Jr 2.20prostituta a cidade fiel! Ela que estava cheia de justiça! Nela, habitava a retidão, mas, agora, *Is 59.7assassinos. 22 A tua prata tornou-se *Ez 22.18escória, o teu vinho foi misturado com água. 23 *Is 3.14-15;Os 5.10;Mq 7.3Os teus príncipes são rebeldes, companheiros de ladrões. Cada um deles *Êx 23.8;Mq 7.3ama peitas e anda atrás de recompensas. *Is 10.2;Jr 5.28;Ez 22.7;Zc 7.10Não fazem justiça ao órfão, nem a causa da viúva chega perante eles.

24 Portanto, diz o Senhor, Jeová dos Exércitos, o *Is 49.26;60.16;Sl 132.2Poderoso de Israel: Ah! Livrar-me-ei dos meus adversários e *Is 35.4;59.18;61.2;63.4vingar-me-ei dos meus inimigos; 25 voltarei a minha mão sobre ti, e *Ez 22.19-22;Ml 3.3purificarei como com potassa a tua escória, e tirarei de ti todo o teu estanho; 26 restituirei os teus *Is 60.17;Jr 33.7,11juízes como foram dantes e os teus conselheiros, como no princípio; depois, serás chamada a Cidade da Justiça, *Is 33.5;60.14;62.1-2;Zc 8.3a Cidade Fiel. 27 Sião será *Is 35.9;62.12;63.4remida pelo juízo, e os que regressam a ela, pela justiça. 28 Mas os transgressores e os pecadores serão *Is 24.20;66.24;Sl 9.5;2Ts 1.8-9destruídos juntos, e os que abandonarem a Jeová perecerão. 29 Pois se terá vergonha por causa dos *Is 57.5terebintos de que vos agradastes, e sereis confundidos por causa dos *Is 65.3;66.17jardins que escolhestes. 30 Pois vos tornareis como um terebinto, cujas *Is 64.6folhas são murchas, e como um jardim que não tem água. 31 O forte tornar-se-á como estopa, e a sua obra, como faísca, e ambos *Is 5.24;9.19;26.11;33.11-14arderão juntamente, *Is 66.24;Mt 3.12;Mc 9.43e não haverá quem os apague.

1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. 3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. 4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.*1.4 laden: Heb. of heaviness*1.4 gone…: Heb. alienated, or, separated

5 Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.*1.5 revolt…: Heb. increase revolt 6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.*1.6 ointment: or, oil 7 Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.*1.7 overthrown…: Heb. the overthrow of 8 And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city. 9 Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

10 Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. 11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.*1.11 he goats: Heb. great he goats 12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?*1.12 to appear: Heb. to be seen 13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.*1.13 iniquity: or, grief 14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. 15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.*1.15 make…: Heb. multiply prayer*1.15 blood: Heb. bloods

16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; 17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.*1.17 relieve: or, righten 18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: 20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

21 How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. 22 Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water: 23 Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them. 24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:*1.25 purely: Heb. according to pureness 26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city. 27 Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.*1.27 her…: or, they that return of her

28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.*1.28 destruction: Heb. breaking 29 For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen. 30 For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water. 31 And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.*1.31 maker…: or, and his work
