Deus salva e vinga ao seu povo

1 Quem é este que vem de *Is 34.5-6;Sl 137.7Edom, de *Is 34.6;Jr 49.13;Am 1.12Bozra, com *Is 63.2as vestiduras tintas de escarlate? Este que é glorioso no seu traje, que marcha na plenitude da sua fortaleza? Eu, que falo a justiça, *Sf 3.17poderoso para salvar. 2 Por que, então, é vermelho o teu traje, e as tuas vestiduras, como as do que *Ap 19.13,15pisa no lagar? 3 Sozinho pisei o lagar, e dos povos não se achava comigo homem algum; *Is 22.5;28.3pisei-os na minha ira e *Mq 7.10calquei-os aos pés no meu furor, e o seu sangue veio salpicar as minhas vestiduras, e manchei o meu traje todo. 4 Porque *Is 34.8;35.4;61.2;Jr 51.6o dia da vingança estava no meu coração, e é chegado o ano dos meus remidos. 5 Olhei, e não houve *Is 59.16quem me ajudasse; e admirei-me de que não houvesse quem me sustivesse; pelo que o *Is 40.10;51.9;52.10;Sl 44.3;98.1meu próprio braço me trouxe a salvação; e o meu furor, ele me susteve. 6 *Is 22.5;34.2;65.12Calquei aos pés os povos na minha ira, e *Is 29.9;51.17,21-22embriaguei-os no meu furor, e derramei sobre a terra *Is 34.3o seu sangue.

Ação de graças, confissões e súplicas do povo de Deus

7 Celebrarei as *Is 54.8,10;Sl 25.6;92.2benignidades de Jeová, os louvores de Jeová, segundo tudo o que ele nos tem concedido, e a *1Rs 8.66;Ne 9.25,35grande bondade para com a casa de Israel, a qual bondade ele lhes tem concedido segundo as suas *Is 54.7-8;Sl 51.1;86.5,15;Ef 2.4misericórdias e segundo a multidão das suas benignidades. 8 Pois ele disse: Certamente, eles são *Is 3.15;51.4;Êx 6.7o meu povo, filhos *Is 51.7que não serão falsos; assim se lhes tornou *Is 60.16Salvador. 9 Em toda a angústia deles, *Jz 10.16foi ele angustiado, *Êx 23.20-23;33.14-15e o Anjo da sua face os salvou; no seu *Dt 7.7-8amor e na sua clemência, *Is 43.1;52.9os remiu, *Is 46.3;Dt 1.31;32.10-12os tomou e os levou em todos os dias da antiguidade.

10 Eles, porém, *Sl 78.40;106.33;At 7.51;Ef 4.30se rebelaram e lhe contristaram *Is 63.11;Sl 51.11o seu Santo Espírito; por isso, ele *Sl 106.40se lhes tornou inimigo e pelejou contra eles. 11 Então, *Sl 106.44-45se lembrou dos dias da antiguidade, de Moisés e do seu povo, dizendo: Onde está *Is 51.9-10o que os tirou do mar com os pastores do seu rebanho? Onde está o que *Nm 11.17,25,29;Ag 2.5pôs no meio deles o seu Santo Espírito? 12 o que fez *Êx 6.6;15.16o seu braço glorioso andar à mão direita de Moisés; o que *Is 11.15;51.10-11;Êx 14.21-22dividiu as águas diante deles, para adquirir para si um nome sempiterno? 13 o que os fez passar pelos abismos como a um cavalo pelo deserto, *Jr 31.9sem que tropeçassem? 14 Como o gado que desce ao vale, o Espírito de *Js 21.44;23.1Jeová fê-los descansar; assim, *Dt 32.12guiaste o teu povo para adquirires um nome glorioso.

15 *Dt 26.15;Sl 80.14Atenta lá do céu e olha lá da *Sl 68.5;123.1habitação da tua santidade e da tua glória; onde está o *Is 9.7;26.11;37.32;42.13;59.17teu zelo e as tuas grandezas? *Jr 31.20;Os 11.8O anelo das tuas entranhas e as tuas misericórdias estancaram para mim. 16 Pois tu és nosso *Is 1.2;64.8Pai, ainda que *Is 29.22;41.8;51.2Abraão não nos conhece e Israel não nos reconhece; tu, Jeová, és nosso Pai; nosso *Is 41.14;44.6;60.16Redentor desde a antiguidade é o teu nome. 17 Por que *Is 30.28;Ez 14.7-9nos fazes, Jeová, errar dos teus caminhos e *Is 29.13-14endureces o nosso coração para te não temermos? *Is 52.8;Nm 10.36Volta por amor dos teus servos, das tribos da tua herança. 18 Só *Dt 4.26;11.17;28.20por um pouco de tempo, o teu povo santo possuiu o país; os nossos adversários *Is 64.11;Sl 74.3-7pisaram o teu santuário. 19 Somos feitos como *Lm 3.43-45;1Co 4.13aqueles sobre quem nunca dominaste, como aqueles sobre quem nunca foi invocado o teu nome.

1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.*63.1 glorious: Heb. decked 2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat? 3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. 4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. 5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. 6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. 8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour. 9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them. 11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?*63.11 shepherd: or, shepherds 12 That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name? 13 That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble? 14 As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

15 Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?*63.15 the sounding: or, the multitude 16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.*63.16 our redeemer…: or, our redeemer from everlasting is thy name

17 O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance. 18 The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary. 19 We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.*63.19 they…: Heb. thy name was not called upon them
