Isaías 8

Devastação de Jeová

1 Jeová disse-me: Toma uma tabuinha grande e *Is 30.8;Hc 2.2escreve nela com estilo de homem: Para Maer-Salal-Hás-Baz. 2 Eu tomarei duas testemunhas fidedignas, *2Rs 16.10-11,15-16Urias, sacerdote, e Zacarias, filho de Jeberequias. 3 Cheguei-me à profetisa; ela concebeu e deu à luz um filho. Então, me disse Jeová: *Os 1.4Põe-lhe por nome Maer-Salal-Hás-Baz. 4 Pois, *Is 7.16antes que o menino saiba clamar: Pai meu e mãe minha, se levarão as riquezas de *Is 7.8-9Damasco e os despojos de Samaria diante do rei da Assíria.

5 Falou-me ainda outra vez Jeová: 6 Porquanto este povo tem *Is 1.20;5.24;7.9;30.12rejeitado as águas de *Ne 3.15;Jo 9.7,11Siloé, que correm mansamente, e se regozija em *Is 7.1Rezim e no filho de Remalias, 7 agora, pois, o Senhor faz subir sobre eles as *Is 17.12-13águas do *Is 7.20;11.15rio, águas fortes e grandes, a saber, o *Is 7.17;10.5-6rei da Assíria e toda a sua glória. Ele *Am 8.8;9.5subirá sobre todos os seus leitos e correrá por cima de todas as suas ribanceiras, 8 *Is 10.6passará adiante, entrando em Judá, trasbordará, passará por ele e *Is 30.28chegará até o pescoço; a extensão das suas asas encherá a largura da tua terra, *Is 7.14ó Emanuel.

Jeová, e não os inimigos, é quem deve ser temido

9 *Is 17.12-14Exasperai-vos, povos, e *Dn 2.34-35sereis despedaçados; dai ouvidos, todos os que sois de países longínquos; cingi-vos e sereis despedaçados; cingi-vos e sereis despedaçados. 10 *Is 28.18;Jó 5.12Tomai juntamente um conselho, e ele será frustrado; dizei uma palavra, e *Is 7.7ela não subsistirá. Pois *Is 8.8;Rm 8.31Deus é conosco. 11 Porque assim falou comigo Jeová *Ez 3.14com forte pressão de mão e me admoestou a que *Ez 2.8eu não andasse pelo caminho deste povo, dizendo: 12 Não chameis *Is 7.2;30.1conspiração a tudo o que este povo chama conspiração; *1Pe 3.14-15não temais aquilo que ele teme, nem o tenhais por temível. 13 *Is 5.16;29.23A Jeová dos Exércitos, *Nm 20.12a ele santificai; seja ele o vosso temor, seja ele o vosso pavor. 14 Ele servirá *Is 4.6;25.4;Ez 11.16de santuário, porém será *Lc 2.34;Rm 9.33;1Pe 2.8pedra de tropeço e rocha de escândalo para as duas casas de Israel, *Is 24.17-18armadilha e laço para os habitantes de Jerusalém. 15 Muitos dentre eles *Is 28.13;59.10;Mt 21.44;Lc 20.18;Rm 9.32tropeçarão, cairão e serão quebrantados, enredados e presos.

16 *Is 8.1-2;29.11-12Ata o Testemunho e *Dn 12.4sela a lei entre *Is 50.4os meus discípulos. 17 Eu *Is 25.9;30.18;Hc 2.3esperarei a Jeová, *Is 1.15;45.15;54.8;Dt 31.17que esconde da casa de Jacó o seu rosto, e a ele aguardarei. 18 *Hb 2.13Eis que eu e os filhos que Jeová me tem dado são para *Lc 2.34sinais e para portentos em Israel, da parte de Jeová dos Exércitos, que *Sl 9.11;Zc 8.3habita no monte de Sião.

Condenação de adivinhos e feiticeiros

19 Quando vos disserem: *Is 19.3;29.4;47.12-13;Lv 20.6;2Rs 21.6;23.24Consultai os que têm espíritos familiares e os feiticeiros, os quais chilram e murmuram, acaso, não *Is 30.2;45.11consultará o povo ao seu Deus? Acaso, a favor dos vivos consultará aos *1Sm 28.8-11;Sl 106.28mortos? 20 *Is 8.16;1.10;Lc 16.29À lei e ao Testemunho! Se o povo não falar segundo essa palavra, *Is 8.22;60.2;Mq 3.6não lhes raiará a alva. 21 Passarão pela terra *Is 9.20-21duramente oprimidos e famintos; sucederá que, quando estiverem famintos, se agastarão e, em nome do seu Deus e do seu rei, lançarão pragas, e olharão para cima. 22 *Is 5.30;59.9;Jr 13.16;Am 5.18,20;Sf 1.14-15Olharão para a terra, e eis tribulação, e trevas, a obscuridade da aflição, *Is 8.20e para a escuridão serão empurrados.

1 Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man’s pen concerning Maher-shalal-hash-baz.*8.1 Maher-shalal-hash-baz: Heb. In making speed to the spoil he hasteneth the prey, or, Make speed, etc 2 And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah. 3 And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz.*8.3 went: Heb. approached 4 For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.*8.4 the riches…: or, he that is before the king of Assyria shall take away the riches, etc

5 The LORD spake also unto me again, saying, 6 Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah’s son; 7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks: 8 And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.*8.8 stretching…: Heb. fulness of the breadth of thy land shall be the stretchings out of his wings

9 Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.*8.9 people, and: or, people, yet 10 Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

11 For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,*8.11 with…: Heb. in strength of hand 12 Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. 13 Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. 14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. 17 And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him. 18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? 20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.*8.20 no…: Heb. no morning 21 And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward. 22 And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.
