A transfiguração

1 *Mt 17.1-8;Mc 9.2-8;Lc 9.28-36Seis dias depois, tomou Jesus consigo a *Mt 26.37;Mc 5.37; cp.Mt 13.3Pedro e aos irmãos, Tiago e João, e levou-os a sós a um alto monte. 2 Foi transfigurado diante deles; o seu rosto resplandeceu como o sol, e as suas vestes tornaram-se brancas como a luz. 3 Eis que lhes apareceram Moisés e Elias falando com ele. 4 Pedro *vd.At 3.12disse a Jesus: Senhor, bom é estarmos aqui; se queres, *cp.Mc 9.5;Lc 9.33farei aqui três tabernáculos: um para ti, outro para Moisés e outro para Elias. 5 Falava ele ainda, quando uma nuvem luminosa os envolveu; e da nuvem saiu *2Pe 1.17s.uma voz, dizendo: *vd.Mt 3.17Este é o meu Filho dileto, em quem me agrado; ouvi-o. 6 Os discípulos, ouvindo-a, caíram de bruços e ficaram com muito medo. 7 Aproximando-se Jesus, tocou-os e disse: Levantai-vos e *vd.Mt 14.27não temais. 8 Eles, erguendo os olhos, a ninguém viram mais, senão só a Jesus.

A vinda de Elias

9 *Mt 17.9-13;Mc 9.9-13Enquanto desciam do monte, ordenou-lhes Jesus: *vd.Mt 8.4A ninguém conteis esta visão, até que *Mt 17.12,22; vd.Mt 8.20o Filho do Homem *vd.Mt 16.21ressuscite dentre os mortos. 10 Perguntaram-lhe os discípulos: Por que dizem, então, os escribas que *vd.Mt 11.14; cp.Mt 16.14Elias deve vir primeiro? 11 Respondeu ele: Na verdade, Elias há de vir e restaurará todas as coisas; 12 declaro-vos, porém, que Elias já veio, e não o conheceram; antes, fizeram-lhe tudo quanto quiseram. Assim também o Filho do Homem há de padecer às suas mãos. 13 Então. os discípulos entenderam que lhes falara a respeito de João Batista.

A cura de um epilético

14 *Mt 17.14-19;Mc 9.14-28;Mt 5.14-18;Lc 9.37-42Quando chegaram à multidão, procurou a Jesus um homem que, ajoelhando-se diante dele, disse: 15 Senhor, compadece-te de meu filho! Porque é *Mt 4.24epilético e vai mal; pois muitas vezes cai no fogo e, muitas outras, na água. 16 Eu o trouxe a teus discípulos, e eles não puderam curá-lo. 17 Jesus exclamou: Ó geração incrédula e perversa! Até quando estarei convosco? Até quando vos sofrerei? Trazei-me aqui o menino. 18 Jesus ameaçou o demônio, o qual saiu do menino; e, desde aquela hora, ficou o menino curado.

O poder da fé

19 Então se chegaram os discípulos a Jesus em particular e perguntaram: Por que não pudemos nós expulsá-lo? 20 Respondeu-lhes: Por causa da vossa pouca fé. De novo prediz Jesus a sua morte e ressurreição

22 *Mt 17.22-23;Mc 9.30-32;Lc 9.44-45Enquanto eles se reuniam na Galileia, disse-lhes Jesus: O Filho do homem há de ser entregue às mãos dos homens. 23 *Mt 17.9;16.21Tirar-lhe-ão a vida, e ele, ao terceiro dia, ressuscitará. Os discípulos entristeceram-se em extremo.

Jesus paga o tributo

24 Tendo chegado a Cafarnaum, dirigiram-se a Pedro os que cobravam *Êx 30.13;38.26as duas dracmas*Uma dracma valia 315 réis, moeda brasileira. e perguntaram: Não paga vosso Mestre as duas dracmas? 25 Respondeu ele: Paga. Ao entrar Pedro em casa, antes que falasse, perguntou-lhe Jesus: Que te parece, Simão? De quem recebem os reis da terra *Mt 22.17,19tributo ou *Rm 13.7imposto? De seus filhos ou dos estranhos? 26 Respondendo ele: Dos estranhos, concluiu Jesus: Logo, são isentos os filhos. 27 Mas, para que *Mt 5.29-30;18.6,8,9;Mc 9.42-43,45,47;Lc 17.2;Jo 6.61;1Co 8.13os não escandalizemos, vai ao mar, lança o anzol, e o primeiro peixe que subir, tira-o; e, abrindo-lhe a boca, acharás um estáter*Moeda que valia 4 dracmas.. Toma-o e entrega-lhes por mim e por ti.

1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. 9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. 10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? 11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. 12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. 13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, 15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. 16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. 17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. 18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. 19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: 23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? 25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? 26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. 27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
