Os falsos profetas

1 Mas houve também, entre o povo, *Dt 13.1ss.;Jr 6.13, etc.falsos profetas, *cp.1Tm 4.1;Mt 7.15como entre vós haverá ainda *2Co 11.13falsos mestres, os quais *Gl 2.4;Jd 4introduzirão *cp.1Co 11.19;Gl 5.20heresias destruidoras, *Jd 4negando até ao *Ap 6.10Senhor, que *1Co 6.20os comprou, trazendo sobre si repentina destruição. 2 Muitos seguirão as suas *cp.Gn 19.5ss.;Jd 4;2Pe 2.2,7,18dissoluções, e por causa deles *Rm 2.24;1Tm 6.1será blasfemado *cp.At 16.17;22.4;24.14o caminho da verdade. 3 Em *2Pe 2.14;1Tm 6.5; cp.Jd 16avareza, com *cp.Rm 16.18;2Pe 1.16palavras fingidas, *cp.2Co 2.17;1Ts 2.5farão de vós negócio; *cp.Dt 32.25a sua condenação, já de longo tempo, não tarda, e a sua destruição não dormita. 4 Pois, *cp.Gn 6;Jd 6se Deus não poupou a anjos, quando pecaram, mas lançou-os no inferno *cp.Ap 20.1s.e os entregou aos abismos de escuridão, para serem reservados para o juízo; 5 se não poupou *2Pe 3.6; cp.Ez 26.20o mundo antigo, mas preservou a *1Pe 3.20Noé, pregador da justiça, com mais sete pessoas, quando trouxe o *2Pe 3.6dilúvio sobre o mundo dos ímpios; 6 se, *Gn 19.24;Jd 7reduzindo a cinzas as cidades de Sodoma e de Gomorra, condenou-as à total ruína, havendo-as posto para *Jd 7;Mt 10.15;11.23;Rm 9.29;Is 1.9exemplo dos que *cp.Jd 15vivessem impiamente; 7 e, *Gn 19.16,29se livrou ao justo Ló, atribulado pela vida dissoluta daqueles *2Pe 3.17insubordinados 8 (porque aquele *cp.Hb 11.4justo, habitando entre eles, com ver e ouvir, afligia a sua justa alma dia após dia com as suas obras iníquas), 9 *1Co 10.13; cp.Ap 3.10o Senhor sabe livrar da tentação aos piedosos e reservar aos injustos sob castigo para *Mt 10.15;Jd 6o dia do juízo, 10 mas principalmente àqueles que, seguindo a carne, *2Pe 3.3;Jd 16,18andam em desejos impuros e *Jd 8; cp.Êx 22.28desprezam dominações. Atrevidos, *Tt 1.7obstinados, não receiam caluniar a dignidades, 11 *Jd 9enquanto que os anjos, ainda que sejam maiores em força e poder, não proferem contra elas juízo caluniador diante do Senhor. 12 Mas *Jd 10estes, como *cp.Jr 12.3;Cl 2.22animais sem razão, por natureza nascidos para serem presos e mortos, caluniando nas coisas que ignoram, na destruição que fazem, certamente, serão destruídos, 13 recebendo *2Pe 2.15a paga da sua injustiça; homens estes que têm na conta de prazer *Rm 13.13o deleitarem-se *cp.1Ts 5.7à luz do dia, são manchas e defeitos, regalando-se nas suas dissimulações, *Jd 12; cp.1Co 11.21ao banquetear-se convosco. 14 Eles têm os olhos cheios de adultério, e não cessam de pecar, *2Pe 2.18engodando as *cp.Tg 1.8;2Pe 3.16almas inconstantes, tendo um coração exercitado na *2Pe 2.3avareza, *cp.Ef 2.3filhos de maldição. 15 Deixando *cp.At 13.10o caminho direito, desviaram-se, tendo seguido o *Nm 22.5,7;Dt 23.4;Ne 13.2;Jd 11; cp.Ap 2.14caminho de Balaão, filho de Beor, que amou o *2Pe 2.13prêmio da injustiça, 16 mas que foi repreendido pela sua transgressão: *Nm 22.21,23,28,30s.um jumento mudo, falando em voz de homem, refreou a loucura do profeta. 17 Estes são *cp.Jd 12fontes sem água, névoas levadas por uma tempestade, *Jd 13para os quais tem sido reservado o negrume das trevas. 18 Pois, proferindo *Jd 16palavras arrogantes de *Ef 4.17vaidade, nas concupiscências da carne, engodam, com *2Pe 2.2dissoluções, aqueles que apenas estão *2Pe 2.20;2Pe 1.4escapando dos que vivem no erro, 19 prometendo-lhes a liberdade, quando eles mesmos são escravos da corrupção; porque o homem é feito escravo *Rm 6.16;Jo 8.34daquele por quem há sido vencido. 20 Portanto, se, depois de terem *2Pe 2.18escapado das corrupções do mundo pelo *2Pe 1.2pleno conhecimento do *2Pe 1.11;3.18Senhor e Salvador Jesus Cristo, *2Tm 2.4se deixam enredar nelas de novo e são vencidos, torna-se *Mt 12.45;Lc 11.26o seu último estado pior do que o primeiro. 21 Pois *cp.Ez 18.24;Hb 6.4ss.;10.26s.;Tg 4.17melhor lhes fora não ter conhecido o caminho da justiça do que, depois de o conhecer, desviar-se do *2Pe 3.2; cp.Gl 6.2;1Tm 6.14santo mandamento *Jd 3que lhes fora dado. 22 Tem-lhes sucedido o que diz o verdadeiro provérbio: *Pv 26.11Voltou o cão ao seu vômito. E: A porca lavada tornou a revolver-se no lamaçal.

1 But false prophets also arose among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction. 2 Many will follow their immoral*2:2 TR reads "destructive" instead of "immoral" ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned. 3 In covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words: whose sentence now from of old doesn’t linger, and their destruction will not slumber.

4 For if God didn’t spare angels when they sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus,*2:4 Tartarus is another name for Hell and committed them to pits of darkness to be reserved for judgment; 5 and didn’t spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood on the world of the ungodly, 6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, having made them an example to those who would live in an ungodly way, 7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was very distressed by the lustful life of the wicked 8 (for that righteous man dwelling among them was tormented in his righteous soul from day to day with seeing and hearing lawless deeds), 9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 but chiefly those who walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, 11 whereas angels, though greater in might and power, don’t bring a slanderous judgment against them before the Lord. 12 But these, as unreasoning creatures, born natural animals to be taken and destroyed, speaking evil in matters about which they are ignorant, will in their destroying surely be destroyed, 13 receiving the wages of unrighteousness; people who count it pleasure to revel in the daytime, spots and defects, reveling in their deceit while they feast with you; 14 having eyes full of adultery, and who can’t cease from sin, enticing unsettled souls, having a heart trained in greed, accursed children! 15 Forsaking the right way, they went astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of wrongdoing; 16 but he was rebuked for his own disobedience. A speechless donkey spoke with a man’s voice and stopped the madness of the prophet.

17 These are wells without water, clouds driven by a storm, for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever. 18 For, uttering great swelling words of emptiness, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by licentiousness, those who are indeed escaping from those who live in error; 19 promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for a man is brought into bondage by whoever overcomes him.

20 For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in it and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, "The dog turns to his own vomit again,"✝2:22 Proverbs 26:11 and "the sow that has washed to wallowing in the mire."
