Os sacrifícios dos santuários eram imperfeitos, mas o de Cristo é de eterna eficácia

1 Visto que a Lei tem *vd.Hb 8.5a sombra *Hb 9.11dos bens vindouros, não a mesma imagem das coisas, *Hb 10.4,11; cp.Hb 9.9;Rm 8.3nunca pode, pelos mesmos sacrifícios que eles oferecem continuamente de ano em ano, *vd.Hb 7.19fazer perfeitos aos que se chegam a Deus. 2 De outra sorte, não teriam cessado de se oferecer, porque os adoradores, tendo sido uma vez purificados, não teriam tido mais *cp.1Pe 2.19consciência de pecados? 3 *vd.Hb 9.7Nesses sacrifícios, porém, há recordação de pecados todos os anos; 4 pois é *vd.Hb 10.1,11impossível que *Hb 9.12s.sangue de touros e de bodes tire pecados. 5 Por isso, *Hb 1.6entrando no mundo, diz:

*Sl 40.6ss.Sacrifício e oferta não quiseste,

mas *cp.1Pe 2.24;Hb 2.14;5.7corpo me formaste;

6 não te deleitaste em holocaustos e sacrifícios pelos pecados.

7 Então, eu disse: Eis aqui venho

para fazer, ó Deus, a tua vontade.

8 Dizendo acima que *Hb 10.5s.sacrifícios, e ofertas, e *Mc 12.33holocaustos, e sacrifícios *Rm 8.3pelo pecado não quiseste, nem te deleitaste neles (os quais são oferecidos segundo a Lei), 9 então, disse: *Hb 10.7Eis aqui venho para fazer a tua vontade. Tira o primeiro para estabelecer o segundo. 10 Na qual vontade temos sido *vd.Ef 5.26;Hb 10.14,29;Hb 2.11;13.12; cp.Jo 17.19santificados pela *Hb 7.27;9.14,28;Hb 10.12;Ef 5.2; cp.Jo 6.51oferta do *cp.1Pe 2.24;Hb 2.14;5.7corpo de Jesus Cristo feita *vd.Hb 7.27uma vez para sempre. 11 Na verdade, todo sacerdote se apresenta, dia após dia, ministrando e *cp.Hb 5.1oferecendo muitas vezes os mesmos sacrifícios, os quais *vd.Hb 10.1,4;Mq 6.6-8, etc.nunca podem tirar pecados; 12 mas este, havendo oferecido, *Hb 10.14para sempre, um só sacrifício *vd.Hb 5.1pelos pecados, *vd.Hb 1.3sentou-se à destra de Deus, 13 daí em diante esperando até que os *vd.Hb 1.13seus inimigos sejam postos por escabelo dos seus pés. 14 Pois, com uma só oferta, tem *cp.Hb 10.1aperfeiçoado para sempre aos que são santificados. 15 *vd.Hb 3.7O Espírito Santo também nos testifica, porque, depois de haver dito:

16 *Hb 8.10;Jr 31.33Esta é a aliança que farei com eles,

depois daqueles dias, diz o Senhor:

Imprimindo as minhas leis nos seus corações,

eu as escreverei sobre a mente deles,

acrescenta:

17 *cp.Hb 8.12Dos seus pecados e das suas iniquidades não me lembrarei mais.

18 Ora, onde há remissão destes, não há mais oferta pelo pecado.

O privilégio de entrarmos na presença de Deus

19 Portanto, irmãos, tendo *Hb 10.35; vd.Hb 3.6confiança de *cp.Hb 9.25entrarmos no Santo Lugar pelo sangue de Jesus, 20 pelo *Hb 9.8caminho que nos inaugurou, caminho novo e de vida, pelo *cp.Hb 6.19;9.3véu, isto é, pela sua carne, 21 e tendo um *vd.Hb 2.17grande sacerdote *Hb 3.6; vd.1Tm 3.15sobre a casa de Deus, 22 *Hb 10.1; vd.Hb 7.19cheguemo-nos, com coração sincero, em *vd.Hb 6.11plena certeza da fé, tendo os nossos corações *Hb 12.24;1Pe 1.2; cp.Hb 9.19;Ez 36.25purificados de uma consciência má e *cp.At 22.16;1Co 6.11;Ef 5.26;Tt 3.5;1Pe 3.21lavados os nossos corpos com água pura; 23 firmes, guardemos inabalável a *vd.Hb 3.1confissão da nossa *vd.Hb 3.6esperança, porque *Hb 11.11; vd.1Co 1.9;10.13fiel é o que fez a promessa, 24 e consideremo-nos uns aos outros, para nos *cp.Hb 13.1estimularmos ao amor e *vd.Tt 3.8às boas obras, 25 *At 2.42não abandonando a nossa congregação, como é costume de alguns; mas *cp.Hb 3.13exortando uns aos outros e tanto mais quanto vedes *vd.1Co 3.13chegar o Dia.

A apostasia é pecado terrível

26 Pois, se *cp.Hb 5.2;6.4-8;2Pe 2.20s.;Nm 15.30pecamos voluntariamente, depois de termos recebido o *vd.1Tm 2.4pleno conhecimento da verdade, já não resta mais sacrifício pelos pecados, 27 senão uma certa expectação terrível do *Jo 5.29;Hb 9.27juízo e *Is 26.11; vd.2Ts 1.7um ardor de fogo, que há de devorar os adversários. 28 *Dt 17.2-6; vd.Mt 18.16; cp.Hb 2.2Aquele que transgride a Lei de Moisés, sendo-lhe provado com duas ou três testemunhas, morre sem misericórdia; 29 *vd.Hb 2.3de quanto mais severo castigo, pensais vós, será julgado digno *cp.Hb 6.6aquele que calca aos pés o Filho de Deus e tem em conta de profano *Hb 13.20;Mt 26.28, etc.o sangue da aliança *vd.Ef 5.26;Ap 1.5; cp.Hb 9.13s.com que foi santificado, e *Hb 6.4;Ef 4.30;1Co 6.11ultraja ao Espírito da graça? 30 Pois conhecemos aquele que disse:

*Dt 32.35; vd.Rm 12.10Minha é a vingança, eu retribuirei.

E outra vez:

O *Dt 32.36Senhor julgará ao seu povo.

31 *vd.2Co 5.11Horrenda coisa é cair nas mãos *vd.Mt 16.16;Hb 3.12do Deus vivo.

Apelo para o passado

32 Lembrai-vos, porém, *cp.Hb 5.12dos dias anteriores, em que, depois que fostes *Hb 6.4iluminados, padecestes um grande *vd.Fp 1.30conflito de sofrimentos; 33 pois, por um lado, fostes *1Co 4.9; cp.Hb 12.4feitos um espetáculo tanto por ludíbrios como por aflições e, por outro, tendes-vos tornado *cp.Fp 4.14(Gr.);1Ts 2.14companheiros dos que foram assim tratados. 34 Pois não só *cp.Hb 13.3vos compadecestes dos encarcerados, mas aceitastes, *cp.Mt 5.12com gozo, o despojo de vossos bens, conhecendo que vós vos tendes a vós mesmos como *cp.Hb 9.15;11.16;13.14;1Pe 1.4s.uma possessão mais excelente e durável. 35 Não lanceis fora, portanto, a vossa *vd.Hb 10.19confiança, a qual tem uma grande *vd.Hb 2.2recompensa. 36 Pois tendes necessidade da *Hb 12.1; vd.Lc 21.19perseverança, para que, tendo feito a vontade de Deus, *vd.Hb 9.15alcanceis a promessa.

37 Pois, *cp.Hb 10.25;Hb 2.3s.;Ap 22.20ainda em bem pouco tempo,

*vd.Mt 11.3aquele que há de vir virá e não tardará.

38 Mas *cp.Rm 1.17;Gl 3.11o meu justo viverá da fé,

e, se ele recuar, nele não tem prazer a minha alma.

39 Mas nós não somos dos que retrocedem para perdição; mas dos que têm a fé para a salvação da alma.

1 For the law, having a shadow of the good to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Or else wouldn’t they have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins? 3 But in those sacrifices there is a yearly reminder of sins. 4 For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins. 5 Therefore when he comes into the world, he says,

"You didn’t desire sacrifice and offering,

but you prepared a body for me.

6 You had no pleasure in whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin.

7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come (in the scroll of the book it is written of me)

to do your will, O God.’"✝10:7 Psalms 40:6-8

8 Previously saying, "Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you didn’t desire, neither had pleasure in them" (those which are offered according to the law), 9 then he has said, "Behold, I have come to do your will." He takes away the first, that he may establish the second, 10 by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11 Every priest indeed stands day by day serving and offering often the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins, 12 but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting until his enemies are made the footstool of his feet. 14 For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. 15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying,

16 "This is the covenant that I will make with them

after those days," says the Lord,

"I will put my laws on their heart,

I will also write them on their mind;"✝10:16 Jeremiah 31:33

then he says,

17 "I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more."✝10:17 Jeremiah 31:34

18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

19 Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh, 21 and having a great priest over God’s house, 22 let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and having our body washed with pure water, 23 let’s hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful.

24 Let’s consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries. 28 A man who disregards Moses’ law dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment do you think he will be judged worthy of who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, "Vengeance belongs to me. I will repay," says the Lord.✝10:30 Deuteronomy 32:35 Again, "The Lord will judge his people."✝10:30 Deuteronomy 32:36; Psalms 135:14 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

32 But remember the former days, in which, after you were enlightened, you endured a great struggle with sufferings: 33 partly, being exposed to both reproaches and oppressions, and partly, becoming partakers with those who were treated so. 34 For you both had compassion on me in my chains and joyfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an enduring one in the heavens. 35 Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward. 36 For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.

37 "In a very little while,

he who comes will come and will not wait.

38 But the righteous one will live by faith.

If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him."✝10:38 Habakkuk 2:3-4

39 But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul.
