A descrição do santuário, dos sacrifícios que, por serem imperfeitos, deviam repetir-se

1 Até a primeira aliança, na verdade, teve as suas *cp.Hb 9.10ordenanças de serviço sagrado e *Êx 25.8o seu santuário *cp.Hb 9.11,24;Hb 8.2terrestre. 2 Pois havia um *Êx 25.8-9tabernáculo preparado, o primeiro em que estava o *Êx 25.31-39candeeiro, e *Êx 25.23-29a mesa, e *Êx 25.30;Lv 24.5-9; cp.Mt 12.4os pães da proposição, e este se chama o Santo Lugar; 3 mas, atrás do *Êx 26.31-33segundo véu, o tabernáculo que se chama *Êx 26.33o Santo dos Santos, 4 tendo um *Êx 30.1-5;37.25s.altar de ouro para o incenso e *Êx 25.10ss.;37.1ss.a arca da aliança, coberta de ouro ao redor por todas as partes, na qual estava *Êx 16.32s.um vaso de ouro, que continha o maná, e *Nm 17.10a vara de Arão, que brotou, e *Êx 31.18;32.15;Dt 9.9,11,15as tábuas da aliança, 5 e, por cima dela, *Êx 25.18ss.os querubins de glória, *Êx 25.17,20que cobriam o propiciatório, das quais coisas não é oportuno, agora, falar individualmente. 6 Preparadas assim essas coisas, *Nm 28.3entram continuamente no primeiro tabernáculo os sacerdotes, para celebrar os serviços sagrados, 7 mas, *cp.Hb 9.3no segundo, entra, a sós, *Lv 16.12ss.o sumo sacerdote, *Êx 30.10;Lv 16.34; cp.Hb 10.3uma vez por ano, *Lv 16.11,14não sem sangue, que *vd.Hb 5.3oferece por si e pelas *Nm 15.25; cp.Hb 5.2ignorâncias do povo, 8 *vd.Hb 3.7significando, com isso, o Espírito Santo que *Hb 10.20; cp.Jo 14.6o caminho do Santo lugar não se tem manifestado, enquanto subsiste o primeiro tabernáculo, 9 o qual é *Hb 11.19; cp.Hb 10.1uma parábola para o tempo presente, conforme a qual *vd.Hb 5.1se oferecem tanto dons como sacrifícios, que não podem, quanto à consciência, *vd.Hb 7.19tornar perfeito o adorador, 10 sendo somente (com *Lv 11.2ss.; vd.Cl 2.16comidas *cp.Nm 6.3e bebidas e várias *Lv 11.25, etc.;Nm 19.13; cp.Mc 7.4abluções) umas *cp.Hb 7.16ordenanças da carne impostas até um *cp.Hb 7.12tempo de reforma.

O sacrifício de Cristo não se repete, é perfeito e eficaz

11 Mas Cristo, tendo vindo como *vd.Hb 2.17sumo sacerdote dos *Hb 10.1bens já realizados, por meio do *Hb 9.24; cp.Hb 8.2maior e mais perfeito tabernáculo, *Mc 14.58;2Co 5.1não feito por mãos de homens, isto é, *cp.2Co 4.18;Hb 12.27;13.14não desta criação, 12 nem pelo *Lv 4.3;16.6,15, etc.;Hb 9.19sangue de bodes e bezerros, mas *Hb 9.14;Hb 13.12pelo seu próprio sangue, *Hb 9.24entrou, *vd.Hb 7.27uma vez para sempre, no Santo Lugar, havendo obtido uma *cp.Hb 9.15;Hb 5.9redenção eterna. 13 Pois, se *Hb 9.12,19; cp.Hb 10.4o sangue de bodes e de touros e *Nm 19.9,17s.as cinzas de uma novilha, aspergidos sobre os contaminados, os santificam para a purificação da carne, 14 quanto mais o sangue de Cristo, que, pelo *cp.1Co 15.45;1Pe 3.18Espírito eterno, *Ef 5.2;Hb 7.27;10.10,12se ofereceu sem defeito a Deus, *At 15.9;Tt 2.14;Hb 10.2,22; cp.Hb 1.3purificará a nossa consciência de *Hb 6.1obras mortas, para servirmos *vd.Mt 16.16;Hb 3.12ao Deus vivo! 15 Por isso, *vd.Rm 3.24ele é *vd.1Tm 2.5;Hb 8.6;12.24Mediador de *vd.Hb 8.8uma nova aliança, para que, tendo intervindo a morte para a redenção das transgressões que havia debaixo da primeira aliança, os que têm sido *vd.Rm 8.28s.;Hb 3.1; cp.Mt 22.3ss.chamados *Hb 6.15;10.36; cp.Hb 11.39recebam a promessa da *vd.At 20.32eterna herança. 16 Pois, onde há um testamento, é necessário que intervenha a morte do testador; 17 pois um testamento não tem força senão pela morte, visto que nunca tem valor enquanto o testador vive. 18 Por isso, nem a primeira aliança foi celebrada sem sangue. 19 Pois, quando *vd.Hb 1.1Moisés havia falado a todo o povo todos os mandamentos segundo a Lei, *Êx 24.6ss.tomou o *vd.Hb 9.12sangue dos bezerros e dos bodes, com *cp.Lv 14.4,7, etc.;Nm 19.6,18, etc.água e lã tinta de escarlata e hissopo e aspergiu não só *cp.Êx 24.7o próprio livro como também a todo o povo, 20 dizendo: *cp.Mt 26.28;Êx 24.8Este é o sangue da aliança, que Deus ordenou para vós. 21 Também, da mesma maneira, aspergiu *cp.Êx 40.9;24.6;Lv 8.15,19;16.14-16o tabernáculo e todos os vasos do serviço sagrado. 22 Segundo a Lei, *cp.Lv 5.7ss.quase todas as coisas são purificadas com sangue, e, *Lv 17.11sem derramamento de sangue, não há remissão.

Cristo oferece-se a si mesmo uma vez para sempre

23 Era necessário, portanto, que as *Hb 8.5figuras das coisas celestiais fossem purificadas com tais sacrifícios, mas *Hb 8.5as mesmas coisas celestiais, com sacrifícios melhores que estes. 24 Pois Cristo *Hb 9.12; cp.Hb 4.14não entrou num santo lugar feito por mãos de homens, figura do *Hb 8.2verdadeiro, mas no *Hb 9.12mesmo céu, para, agora, *cp.Hb 7.25;Mt 18.10aparecer diante de Deus por nós; 25 nem a fim de se oferecer muitas vezes a si mesmo, como *vd.Hb 9.7o sumo sacerdote entra *Hb 9.2;Hb 10.19no Santo Lugar *Hb 9.7de ano em ano com sangue alheio; 26 de outra forma, lhe seria necessário ter sofrido muitas vezes desde *vd.Mt 25.34;Hb 4.3o fundamento do mundo; mas, agora, tem sido *1Jo 3.5,8manifestado *Hb 9.12;Hb 7.27uma vez para sempre *vd.Mt 13.39; cp.Hb 1.2na consumação dos séculos, para abolição do pecado *Hb 9.12,14pelo sacrifício de si mesmo. 27 Porquanto *Gn 3.19é ordenado aos homens que morram uma só vez (e, depois disso, *2Co 5.10;1Jo 4.17vem o juízo), 28 assim também Cristo, tendo sido *vd.Hb 7.27imolado uma vez para sempre, a fim de *1Pe 2.24levar os pecados de muitos, aparecerá *At 1.11segunda vez, *Hb 4.15sem pecado, aos que *vd.1Co 1.7;Tt 2.13o aguardam para *Hb 5.9a salvação.

1 Now indeed even the first*9:1 TR adds "tabernacle" covenant had ordinances of divine service and an earthly sanctuary. 2 For a tabernacle was prepared. In the first part were the lamp stand, the table, and the show bread, which is called the Holy Place. 3 After the second veil was the tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies, 4 having a golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which was a golden pot holding the manna, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant; 5 and above it cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat, of which things we can’t speak now in detail.

6 Now these things having been thus prepared, the priests go in continually into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the services, 7 but into the second the high priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offers for himself and for the errors of the people. 8 The Holy Spirit is indicating this, that the way into the Holy Place wasn’t yet revealed while the first tabernacle was still standing. 9 This is a symbol of the present age, where gifts and sacrifices are offered that are incapable, concerning the conscience, of making the worshiper perfect, 10 being only (with foods and drinks and various washings) fleshly ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation.

11 But Christ having come as a high priest of the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation, 12 nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify to the cleanness of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without defect to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, since a death has occurred for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, that those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. 16 For where a last will and testament is, there must of necessity be the death of him who made it. 17 For a will is in force where there has been death, for it is never in force while he who made it lives. 18 Therefore even the first covenant has not been dedicated without blood. 19 For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 20 saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you."✝9:20 Exodus 24:8

21 He sprinkled the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry in the same way with the blood. 22 According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.

23 It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ hasn’t entered into holy places made with hands, which are representations of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest enters into the holy place year by year with blood not his own, 26 or else he must have suffered often since the foundation of the world. But now once at the end of the ages, he has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 Inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this, judgment, 28 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
