A antiga aliança era um símbolo transitório; Cristo é mediador de uma aliança melhor e eterna

1 No que estamos dizendo, o ponto principal é este: temos um tal *vd.Hb 2.17sumo sacerdote que se assentou à *vd.Hb 1.3destra do trono da *vd.Hb 1.3Majestade nos céus, 2 *cp.Hb 10.11ministro do santuário e do *cp.Hb 9.11,24verdadeiro tabernáculo, que o Senhor *cp.Êx 33.7armou, e não o homem. 3 Pois todo sumo sacerdote é constituído *vd.Hb 5.1; cp.Hb 8.4para oferecer dons e sacrifícios, porquanto é necessário que esse sumo sacerdote também tenha alguma coisa que oferecer. 4 Se ele estivesse, pois, sobre a terra, nem sacerdote seria, havendo os que oferecem dons segundo a Lei; 5 os quais servem ao que é *Hb 9.23modelo e *vd.Cl 2.17;Hb 10.1sombra das coisas celestiais, como Moisés foi *Hb 11.7;12.25; vd.Mt 2.12divinamente avisado, quando estava para construir o tabernáculo; pois diz ele: *Êx 25.40Vê que faças todas as coisas conforme o modelo que te foi mostrado no monte. 6 Mas, agora, este tem conseguido tanto melhor ministério, quanto é *vd.1Tm 2.5Mediador ainda de *Hb 7.22; cp.Hb 8.8;Hb 9.15;12.24; vd.Lc 22.20uma melhor aliança, a qual tem sido decretada sobre melhores promessas. 7 Pois, *vd.Hb 7.11se aquela primeira aliança tivesse sido livre de defeito, não se teria buscado ocasião para uma segunda. 8 Pois, repreendendo-os, diz:

*Jr 31.33ss.Eis aí vêm dias, diz o Senhor,

e estabelecerei com a casa de Israel e com a casa de Judá *Hb 8.13;Hb 9.15;12.24;2Co 3.6; vd.Lc 22.20; cp.Hb 7.22;8.6uma nova aliança,

9 não conforme a aliança que fiz com seus pais,

no dia em que *cp.Hb 2.16;Êx 19.5s.os tomei pela mão para os conduzir para fora da terra do Egito;

pois eles não perseveraram na minha aliança,

e eu não atentei para eles, diz o Senhor.

10 *Hb 10.16; cp.Rm 11.27Esta é a aliança que estabelecerei com a casa de Israel:

depois daqueles dias, diz o Senhor,

imprimindo as minhas leis na mente deles,

eu as escreverei também *cp.2Co 3.3sobre os seus corações;

serei para eles Deus,

e eles serão para mim povo.

11 Cada um não ensinará ao seu concidadão,

nem cada um ao seu irmão, dizendo:

Conhece ao Senhor;

pois *cp.Is 54.13;Jo 6.45;1Jo 2.27todos me conhecerão,

desde o menor até o maior deles.

12 Pois eu lhes perdoarei as suas iniquidades

*Hb 10.17e não me lembrarei mais dos seus pecados.

13 Dizendo *vd.Hb 8.8Nova aliança, ele tem feito antiquada a primeira; *cp.Hb 1.11;2Co 5.17mas aquilo que se está tornando antiquado e envelhecendo perto está de desaparecer.

1 Now in the things which we are saying, the main point is this: we have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 2 a servant of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord pitched, not man. 3 For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer. 4 For if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, seeing there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law, 5 who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses was warned by God when he was about to make the tabernacle, for he said, "See, you shall make everything according to the pattern that was shown to you on the mountain."✝8:5 Exodus 25:40 6 But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which on better promises has been given as law.

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. 8 For finding fault with them, he said,

"Behold,*8:8 "Behold", from "ἰδοὺ", means look at, take notice, observe, see, or gaze at. It is often used as an interjection. the days are coming", says the Lord,

"that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;

9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers

in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt;

for they didn’t continue in my covenant,

and I disregarded them," says the Lord.

10 "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel

after those days," says the Lord:

"I will put my laws into their mind;

I will also write them on their heart.

I will be their God,

and they will be my people.

11 They will not teach every man his fellow citizen*8:11 TR reads "neighbor" instead of "fellow citizen"

and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’

for all will know me,

from their least to their greatest.

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness.

I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more."✝8:12 Jeremiah 31:31-34

13 In that he says, "A new covenant", he has made the first obsolete. But that which is becoming obsolete and grows aged is near to vanishing away.
