Nascimento e reinado do Príncipe da Paz

1 Mas para a que estava aflita não continuará a *Is 8.22obscuridade. Ameaças contra o reino de Israel

8 O Senhor enviou uma palavra a Jacó, e ela caiu sobre Israel. 9 Todo o povo o saberá, isto é, *Is 7.8-9;28.1,3Efraim e os habitantes de Samaria, os quais, em soberba e *Is 46.12em altivez de coração, dizem: 10 Os tijolos têm caído, mas *Ml 1.4edificaremos com pedra lavrada; os sicômoros têm sido cortados, mas, em lugar deles, poremos cedros. 11 Jeová, porém, exaltou contra eles os adversários de *Is 7.1,8Rezim e incitou os inimigos dele, 12 os *2Rs 16.6siros do oriente e os *2Cr 28.18filisteus do ocidente, e estes *Sl 79.7;Jr 10.15devoraram a Israel à boca aberta. *Is 5.25Com tudo isso, não se aplacou a sua ira, mas a sua mão ainda está estendida.

13 Todavia, o povo *Jr 5.3;Sl 7.10não se voltou para quem o feriu, nem *Is 31.1;Os 3.5buscou a Jeová dos Exércitos. 14 Portanto, Jeová, *Ap 18.8num só dia, exterminará de Israel *Is 19.15a cabeça e a cauda, o ramo da palmeira e o junco. 15 *Is 3.2-3O ancião e o homem acatado, este é a cabeça, e o profeta que ensina *Is 28.15;30.9;59.3-4;Jr 23.14,32;Mt 24.24mentiras, este é a cauda. 16 *Is 3.12;Mt 16.14;23.16,24Os que guiam a este povo o desencaminham; e os que por eles são guiados são destruídos. 17 Por isso, o Senhor *Jr 18.21;Am 4.10;8.13não se regozijará nos mancebos dele, *Is 27.11nem se compadecerá dos seus órfãos e das suas viúvas, porque todos eles são *Is 10.6;32.6profanos e *Is 1.4;14.20;31.2;Mq 7.2malfeitores, e *Mt 12.34toda boca fala loucuras. *Is 5.25Com tudo isso, não se aplacou a sua ira, mas a sua mão ainda está estendida.

18 *Is 1.7;Sl 83.14;Na 1.10;Ml 4.1A perversidade arde como um fogo; consome os espinhos e os abrolhos; acende-se nas brenhas do bosque, e elas sobem em espessas nuvens de fumo. 19 *Is 10.6;13.9,13;42.25Pelo furor de Jeová dos Exércitos, está *Jl 2.3queimada a terra; *Is 1.31;24.6o povo também vem a ser como pasto do fogo; *Mq 7.2,6ninguém poupa a seu irmão. 20 Devorará da banda direita e ficará com *Is 8.21-22fome; comerá da banda esquerda e não se fartará; cada um comerá a *Is 49.26carne do seu próprio braço. 21 Manassés será contra Efraim, e Efraim, contra Manassés; e *Is 11.13;2Cr 28.6,8estes, juntos, serão contra Judá. *Is 5.25Com tudo isso, não se aplacou a sua ira, mas a sua mão ainda está estendida.

1 But there shall be no more gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time, he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali; but in the latter time he has made it glorious, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.

2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.

The light has shined on those who lived in the land of the shadow of death.

3 You have multiplied the nation.

You have increased their joy.

They rejoice before you according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the plunder. 4 For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as in the day of Midian. 5 For all the armor of the armed man in the noisy battle, and the garments rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire. 6 For a child is born to us. A son is given to us; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on David’s throne, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of Yahweh of Armies will perform this.

8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob,

and it falls on Israel.

9 All the people will know,

including Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart,

10 "The bricks have fallen,

but we will build with cut stone.

The sycamore fig trees have been cut down,

but we will put cedars in their place."

11 Therefore Yahweh will set up on high against him the adversaries of Rezin,

and will stir up his enemies,

12 The Syrians in front,

and the Philistines behind;

and they will devour Israel with open mouth.

For all this, his anger is not turned away,

but his hand is stretched out still.

13 Yet the people have not turned to him who struck them,

neither have they sought Yahweh of Armies.

14 Therefore Yahweh will cut off from Israel head and tail,

palm branch and reed, in one day.

15 The elder and the honorable man is the head,

and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail.

16 For those who lead this people lead them astray;

and those who are led by them are destroyed.

17 Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men,

neither will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows;

for everyone is profane and an evildoer,

and every mouth speaks folly.

For all this his anger is not turned away,

but his hand is stretched out still.

18 For wickedness burns like a fire.

It devours the briers and thorns;

yes, it kindles in the thickets of the forest,

and they roll upward in a column of smoke.

19 Through Yahweh of Armies’ wrath, the land is burned up;

and the people are the fuel for the fire.

No one spares his brother.

20 One will devour on the right hand, and be hungry;

and he will eat on the left hand, and they will not be satisfied.

Everyone will eat the flesh of his own arm:

21 Manasseh eating Ephraim and Ephraim eating Manasseh, and they together will be against Judah.

For all this his anger is not turned away,

but his hand is stretched out still.
