Isaías 10

1 Ai dos que *Is 29.21;59.4,13;Sl 94.20fazem decretos injustos e dos escrivães que registram a opressão, 2 *Is 5.23para desviarem do juízo aos necessitados e para arrebatarem dos pobres do meu povo o direito, a fim de que as *Is 1.23;3.14-15viúvas sejam o seu despojo e os órfãos, a sua presa! 3 *Jó 31.14Que fareis no *Is 13.6;26.14,21;29.6;Jr 9.9;Os 9.7;Lc 19.44dia da visitação e na desolação que vem de *Is 5.26longe? *Is 20.6;30.5,7;31.3A quem recorrereis? E onde deixareis a vossa glória? 4 Terão de curvar-se debaixo dos *Is 24.22presos e cair debaixo dos *Is 22.2;34.3;66.16mortos. *Is 5.25Com tudo isso, não se aplacou a sua ira, mas a sua mão ainda está estendida.

Predição da ruína da Assíria

5 Ai *Is 7.17;8.7de Assur, *Jr 51.20vara da minha ira, em cujas mãos o bordão é a minha *Is 13.5;30.30;34.2;66.14indignação! 6 Enviá-lo-ei contra *Is 9.17uma nação profana e *Is 37.26-27;Jr 34.22despachá-lo-ei *Is 9.19contra o povo do meu furor, *Is 5.29para tomar o despojo, para arrebatar a presa e para os pisar como a *Is 5.25lama das ruas. 7 Todavia, *Gn 50.20;Mq 4.11-12;At 2.23-24não julga assim ele, nem pensa assim o seu coração; porém está no seu coração o destruir e exterminar não poucas nações. 8 Pois diz: *Is 10.9-11;36.18,20;37.10-13;2Rs 18.24,34;19.10Porventura, não são os meus príncipes, de todo, reis? 9 Não é *Gn 10.10;Am 6.2Calno como *2Cr 35.20Carquemis? não é *Nm 34.8Hamate como Arpade? Não é *2Rs 17.6Samaria como *2Rs 16.9Damasco? 10 Do mesmo modo que a minha mão achou os *2Rs 19.17-18reinos dos ídolos (as suas imagens esculpidas excederam as de Jerusalém e de Samaria.) — 11 não farei eu também a Jerusalém e aos *Is 2.8seus ídolos como tenho feito a Samaria e aos seus ídolos?

12 Quando o Senhor tiver cumprido toda a sua *Is 28.21-22;29.14;65.7;2Rs 19.31obra no monte de Sião e em Jerusalém, *Is 10.33-34;14.25;30.31-33;31.8-9;37.7,36-38;2Rs 19.35-37visitarei sobre o rei da Assíria o fruto da arrogância *Is 10.7do seu coração e *Is 37.23a glória da altivez dos seus olhos. 13 Porquanto *Is 37.24-27;2Rs 19.22-24;Ez 28.4;Dn 4.30ele disse: Eu o fiz pela força da minha mão e pela minha sabedoria, pois sou entendido; *Hc 2.6-11removi os termos do povo, roubei os seus tesouros e, como homem valente, abati os que se assentavam sobre tronos. 14 A minha mão achou como a *Jr 49.16;Ob 4um ninho as riquezas dos povos; como se ajuntam os ovos que são abandonados, assim ajuntei eu toda a terra; não houve quem movesse a asa, nem abrisse a boca, nem chilrasse.

15 Porventura, gloriar-se-á o *Jr 51.20machado contra *Is 29.16;45.9;Rm 9.20-21o que corta com ele? Porventura, engrandecer-se-á a serra contra o que a põe em movimento? Isso seria, como *Is 10.5se a vara movesse os que a levantam ou como *Is 10.5se o bordão levantasse aquele que não é pau. 16 Por isso, o Senhor Jeová dos Exércitos enviará *Sl 106.15magreza entre *Is 17.4os gordos dele, e debaixo da sua *Is 10.18;Is 8.7glória se acenderá uma queima como a queima do fogo. 17 *Is 30.33;31.9A luz de Israel tornar-se-á fogo, e o seu *Is 37.23Santo, labareda; num só dia, serão *Is 27.4;33.12;Nm 11.1-3;Jr 4.4;7.20abrasados e devorados os espinhos dele e os seus abrolhos. 18 A glória do seu *Jr 21.14;Ez 20.47-48bosque e do seu jardim será *Is 10.33-34consumida, tanto a alma como a carne; e será como quando um doente vai definhando. 19 *Is 21.17O resto das árvores do seu bosque será tão pouco em número, que um menino as possa escrever.

Um resto regressará

20 Naquele dia, *Is 1.9;11.11,16;46.3o resto de Israel e os da casa de Jacó que tiverem *Is 4.2;37.31-32escapado não tornarão a estribar-se sobre *2Rs 16.7;2Cr 28.20aquele que os feriu, mas *Is 17.7-8;50.10;2Cr 14.11estribar-se-ão em verdade sobre Jeová, o Santo de Israel. 21 *Is 6.13O resto, sim o resto de Jacó voltará para *Is 9.6Deus Poderoso. 22 Pois *Rm 9.27-28ainda que o teu povo, ó Israel, seja como a areia do mar, apenas um resto dele voltará; *Is 28.22;Dn 9.27;Rm 9.28uma consumação está determinada, trasbordando em justiça. 23 Pois uma consumação, e esta já determinada, o Senhor Jeová dos Exércitos a executará no *Is 6.12meio de toda a terra.

24 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Jeová dos Exércitos: Ó povo meu, que habitas em *Sl 87.5-6Sião, *Is 7.4;12.2;37.6não temas a Assur, ainda que te *Êx 5.14-16fira com a vara e levante contra ti o seu bordão, ao modo do Egito. 25 Pois ainda *Is 17.14;Ag 2.6um pouquinho, e será cumprida *Is 10.5;26.20a indignação, e a minha ira servirá para os consumir. 26 Jeová dos Exércitos *Is 37.36-38suscitará contra ele um flagelo, como na matança de *Is 9.4;Jz 7.25Midiã junto à rocha de Orebe; *Êx 14.16a sua vara estará sobre o mar, e ele a levantará *Êx 14.27ao modo do Egito. 27 Naquele dia, *Is 9.4;14.25a carga dele se retirará dos teus ombros, e o seu jugo, do teu pescoço e o jugo será quebrado por causa da *Is 30.23;55.2gordura.

28 Assur vem a Aiate, passa por *1Sm 14.2Migrom; em *1Sm 13.2,5Micmás, deixa depositada *Jz 18.21;1Sm 17.22a sua bagagem. 29 Atravessam o desfiladeiro, já se alojam em *Js 21.17;1Sm 13.16Geba; *Js 18.25;1Sm 7.17Ramá treme, *1Sm 10.26Gibeá de Saul foge. 30 Levanta a tua voz em gritos, filha de *1Sm 25.44Galim! Escuta, Laís! Pobrezinha de *Js 21.18;Jr 1.1Anatote! 31 *Js 15.31;Jr 48.2Madmena vai-se; os moradores de Gebim salvam-se pela fuga. 32 Hoje mesmo, parará em *1Sm 21.1;22.9Nobe; *Is 19.16;Zc 2.9moverá a sua mão contra o monte da *Is 1.8;Jr 6.23filha de Sião, o outeiro de Jerusalém.

33 Eis que o Senhor Jeová dos Exércitos *Is 18.5;27.11cortará os ramos com grande violência; *Is 37.24,36-38;Ez 31.3;Am 2.9os altos de estatura serão cortados, e os elevados serão abatidos. 34 Cortará as brenhas do bosque com ferro, e o *Is 2.13;33.9;37.24Líbano cairá pela mão de um poderoso.

1 Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers who write oppressive decrees 2 to deprive the needy of justice, and to rob the poor among my people of their rights, that widows may be their plunder, and that they may make the fatherless their prey! 3 What will you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? Where will you leave your wealth?

4 They will only bow down under the prisoners,

and will fall under the slain.

For all this his anger is not turned away,

but his hand is stretched out still.

5 Alas Assyrian, the rod of my anger, the staff in whose hand is my indignation! 6 I will send him against a profane nation, and against the people who anger me I will give him a command to take the plunder and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. 7 However, he doesn’t mean so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off not a few nations. 8 For he says, "Aren’t all of my princes kings? 9 Isn’t Calno like Carchemish? Isn’t Hamath like Arpad? Isn’t Samaria like Damascus?" 10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, whose engraved images exceeded those of Jerusalem and of Samaria, 11 shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

12 Therefore it will happen that when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the insolence of his arrogant looks. 13 For he has said, "By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I have understanding. I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a valiant man I have brought down their rulers. 14 My hand has found the riches of the peoples like a nest, and like one gathers eggs that are abandoned, I have gathered all the earth. There was no one who moved their wing, or that opened their mouth, or chirped."

15 Should an ax brag against him who chops with it? Should a saw exalt itself above him who saws with it? As if a rod should lift those who lift it up, or as if a staff should lift up someone who is not wood. 16 Therefore the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, will send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory a burning will be kindled like the burning of fire. 17 The light of Israel will be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame; and it will burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day. 18 He will consume the glory of his forest and of his fruitful field, both soul and body. It will be as when a standard bearer faints. 19 The remnant of the trees of his forest shall be few, so that a child could write their number.

20 It will come to pass in that day that the remnant of Israel, and those who have escaped from the house of Jacob will no more again lean on him who struck them, but shall lean on Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. 21 A remnant will return, even the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God. 22 For though your people, Israel, are like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will return. A destruction is determined, overflowing with righteousness. 23 For the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, will make a full end, and that determined, throughout all the earth.

24 Therefore the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, says, "My people who dwell in Zion, don’t be afraid of the Assyrian, though he strike you with the rod, and lift up his staff against you, as Egypt did. 25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation against you will be accomplished, and my anger will be directed to his destruction." 26 Yahweh of Armies will stir up a scourge against him, as in the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb. His rod will be over the sea, and he will lift it up like he did against Egypt. 27 It will happen in that day that his burden will depart from off your shoulder, and his yoke from off your neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing oil.

28 He has come to Aiath. He has passed through Migron. At Michmash he stores his baggage. 29 They have gone over the pass. They have taken up their lodging at Geba. Ramah trembles. Gibeah of Saul has fled. 30 Cry aloud with your voice, daughter of Gallim! Listen, Laishah! You poor Anathoth! 31 Madmenah is a fugitive. The inhabitants of Gebim flee for safety. 32 This very day he will halt at Nob. He shakes his hand at the mountain of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

33 Behold, the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, will lop the boughs with terror. The tall will be cut down, and the lofty will be brought low. 34 He will cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon will fall by the Mighty One.
